I grew up with the Genesis version so those are the tunes I remember the most. I love The Pit's theme, it sounds like something from a horror flick. Would be nice to hear some of those re-done for MK9!

Yeah, the sound effects I like so far.

Except for Nightwolf's lightning. Lightning in the original 2D games always sounded really intense, especially Raiden's win pose, but it always sounds sorta weak and drowned out in the 3D games. Thunder is supposed to be REALLY loud. When it claps, it should dominate over every other sound in the game.

I liked MK3s track a lot as well. Soul Chamber, Subway, and Graveyard are my favorites. Like the tracks so much in fact that I actually bought the Musik CD from Toasty Productions...

I do like the asian-themed tunes as well though, but if they are going to go with a more modern-type of sound, they can't go too far wrong from taking a cue from MK3s music. The way they have been going since MKA is just awful.

I want to say that personally, I thought there were at least one or two background themes in Armageddon that were kinda catchy and up to the standard of the earlier games. Particularly the Hell and Meteor Shower tracks. The Subway remix wasn't bad either.

MK4 had some a lot of good tracks too when I think about it. I can even recall the character select scene theme from memory.

So really, it's just DA, Deception, and MK vs DCU where the music sounded generic and all blended together.
PS, is anyone sick of Hernan Sanchez as the announcer? I hope they get someone who sounds more like Shao Kahn to do all the "FIGHT"s and "FINISH HIM"s for this one since we're going back to that era. The one in Shaolin Monks was good, they should use him.

The Living Forest was really good, but the one that ALWAYS really made impact on me was the one when you fight Goro. It amplified the fear and respect you feel for that huge motha-f...a since he was by far the toughest to beat.

I've always thougth the best MK music was found in Mortal Kombat 3, and knowing that this MK game is going to have a lot of MK3 arenas, I'm just hoping they incorporate the classic soundtracks with a twist.

As long as Dan'Toasty' Forden is working on the music, there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The man knows how to do his job.

MKA's soundtrack wasn't much special, but it had a few gems. Prison remix was decent, Hell and the Meteror Storm were alright, and the Belltower had some very creative moments. The ones that really grabbed me though were its version of Goro's Lair, and the Lumber Mill theme. That one was nice, slow-paced, yet lethal-sounding and very ominous...while staying very groovy.

Man MK3 Soundtrack was one of the best for me!
Everything should be remix tracks or some just altered a little bit!
All Im worried about is the character select!
My Faves are the MK2,MK3,MKD,MKDA,MKD.

Just a question, is Hernan Sanchez the same voice actor who did the voice overs in MK2 & MK3? Cause I've been playing MK2 and MK3 a lot lately and the voice that announces your character or ' Finish Him' or 'Fatality' or whatever sounds great to me.

Sanchez started doing the announcer in MK4. He's also the voice actor of Quan Chi in most of the games.

The announcer in MK2 and 3 is the guy who voice acted Shao Kahn's taunts.

And the announcer in MK1 is supposed to be Shang Tsung. That's why the voice sounded like a wheezy old Asian guy in MK1, lol.

See, that's the thing. The announcer is supposed to be whoever the main villain or host of the tournament is. That's why when Kahn beats you in MK3, the game doesn't say "Shao Kahn Wins", it says "I Win"
And they stayed true to that in the first several games...then every game after Deadly Alliance, they stopped caring and kept just re-using Quan Chi.
