One of the "overtimes" (Jade vs Cage) I believe was due to a technical problem on the site. It was mentioned in the discussion.

The other "overtime" was because Smoke got a bunch of spam votes. Again, this was mentioned in the discussion. The mods had to sort through two messes.

I'm fairly certain Ermac won fair and square even with the spam votes for Smoke. As for Jade/Cage, I don't know if the technical problem(s) had an impact on the final outcome or not, but the tournament was hardly rigged.

Sub-Zero OWNED almost everyone xD. Stop, saying it was predictable when most of you probably voted for him.

Hell, I know I voted for him and Noob after Smoke lost. Lol long live the Cybernetic Lin Kuei Grandmaster.

I only voted for him once and that was against Daegon. I mean come on, Daegon really? I wanted him and Scorp to go to round 2 but no further. Never voted for Sub with the intention of him winning. Same thing with Scorpion.

I can see why people voted for him though. Good story, good moves, good costumes, good fatalitys. It's been consistent with him for years, obviously he'll build up a fan base.

Funny though, if his current rendition (as a cyborg) was used as his icon and his latest story was used as an arguement in his favour, I doubt his votes would have been so high. Subtle little things like that can play on the subconscious, you'd see a huge difference if the more controversial Cyborg Sub-Zero was used in the vote rather than his ninja form.

Even on the first page, his automation in the current timeline and death at the hands of Sindel are very briefly acknowledged despite them being the most recent events in his lifetime. I think MKO has a bit of an over exaggerated boner for the ice ninja: the very same timeline changes were used against Kitana, Mileena, Reptile, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, Sheeva, Smoke, Cyrax and pretty much half of the MK9 roster in their perspective rounds to vote against them, yet I've noticed the fans never used any of Sub-Zero's current changes against him.

He's a great character, but Champion? Only with MKO.

So, Sub-Zero have won...sad. I hoped that Ermac will be the winner, but well...predictable.

It was not a bad poll, however, it was setup in a wrong way, where multiple matches had very predictable outcome, which lead to the whole poll being quite predictable, save for the few surprises.
If I did this poll I'd divivded all characters into two groups - old one (32 chars from MK1-MKT) and a new one (32 chars from MK4-MK9) and made they battle each other separately. Then winners of the both groups would have fought for the champion title.

But then it would have almost certainly been Sub-Zero vs. Kenshi/Quan Chi/Shinnok, and that wouldn't have been close. Most of the newer characters can't hold a candle to the older ones in the eyes of the community.

In case you didn't know, there can still be a predicted outcome in a poll where you are able to vote on the winner. It's common knowledge that Sub-Zero is ridiculously popular so it is predictable that he would win this. Case Closed.





Based off my opinion, but I forgot that people here tend to take everything said as if the OP is saying it is gospel and fact. People generally post what their opinion is so I hope that people learn to start reading that way.

People also typically state something along the lines like "IMO" or actually use the word "opinion." I guess that was too hard. A majority of the time, once an opinion is given, posters also explain their reasoning, but again I guess that would have taken too much of an effort.

I would hope that people didn't get so bitter over a fun popularity poll . JMO though.

SUBZERO is the champion =). Not a bit surprised to be honest, although I am very surprised to see how close it really was.
Idk how I would have reacted if Ermac had won, it wouldn't feel right to me.

I wasn't expecting Ermac nor Smoke to make it this far. Congratulations to both of these character's fans.

Subzero is the champion and I am very happy because he is one of my top 2 favorite characters. But for me the best part of this tournament was the fact that only one female made it in the top 8.

The Edenian Princess kicked some serious ass in this tournament. She was the female that lasted the longest in the competition. Kitana also did the best against SubZero, besides Ermac of course. This is a victory for all Kitana fans that have stayed by her side since day one. Sonya and Mileena fans =P

The Sub-Zero who won is the same who is Cyber Sub-Zero. They are both Kuai Liang. Just because they have two different spots on the roster with different playstyles doesn't mean that they are two different characters. They are one and the same.

So basically, Cyber Sub-Zero won this poll too. No matter his form, he is still Kuai Liang. ^^

I voted for all of Kuai Liang, both human and cyborg. Well, not in the last vote-off though. I voted for Ermac then.

Was it not for the human Sub-Zero, the cyborg version of him would not have existed. I acknowledge all of him.

However, we do not know if Subbie will stay a cyborg throughout the future games. He might change back to human, though I prefer his cyborg form over the other, so I personally hope he will stay that way.

What's hard is actually trying to get myself to waste the time to talk to someone close-minded such as yourself. Clearly when you read something you seem to take it as "This person is speaking facts and there is a 0% chance this could be their opinion, so I will be a Jackass in my retort.'. It's kind of sad to be honest.

Anyway, you want an explanation just so your Jimmies aren't rustled anymore? Fine. I'll bite. Sub-Zero is crazy popular and well... we all know that. It's kind of obvious that he would win that, meanwhile Ermac is a character who has a pretty awesome history, and a story which I, Among many others that I have spoken to, find enjoyable. I don't think it would hurt to give another character some exposure time even if it is just on a post in this site. Who is going to see it you might ask? Yes, probably people who are already users on this site and have opinions of their own on each character. They probably wouldn't change their views on a certain character since they already have their own opinion. Then again, the poll results don't tell you that maybe some people really like both characters but had to make the tough decision of picking Sub-Zero over Ermac, so it's not like they wouldn't be happy either way. It would nice to see another character get the exposure so a character other than Sub-Zero or Scorpion may have a chance of being seen by people on the site who are just people who have heard of the game or are a very basic casual fan who just plays and doesn't know much about the characters or stories. It would be nice to let the casual fan read about a different storyline in the MK Universe on the homepage of the site. Maybe it would give the rest of the roster a small light to stop living under the shadow of Sub-Zero and Scorpion.

And yes, I know what I said about the very basic casual fan and someone who just heard about the game could apply to them learning about Sub-Zero's story as well but people talk about Sub-Zero so often around here regarding various things about the character that if someone decided to join the site, they would learn about him in a matter of seconds because he seems to ALWAYS be discussed amongst people. Ermac on the other hand, doesn't seem to get that kind of attention and I feel that it would benefit a casual fan to see his story and then just learn about Sub-Zero's amongst all of the discussion because honestly, there is so much to Sub-Zero's story (as stale as it has gotten IN MY OPINION) that it would be better (IN MY OPINION) to read about it in a thread where you can get different takes on the story from all of the users who are hardcore fans. But again... that is JUST MY OPINION.

And I enjoy Sub-Zero. I enjoy everything about him, even his Cyber form. One of my mains when I play to be quite honest so I wouldn't want you to try and jump to the "you must hate Sub-Zero and be upset about him winning" conclusion so please don't try to even go there. It's nice to see that on the first page of the MK (2011) forum there are no threads dedicated to a character that is overexposed to us such as Sub-Zero or Scorpion other than the tournament and tournament result thread (IN MY OPINION). I'm not counting the Sub-Zero Bust news thread because while that is exposure being dedicated to him, a chunk of the characters are getting their exposure through threads regarding the Syco products, and while the Bust may not be a Syco product it's along the same lines so no further explanation is needed on that. It's nice to see characters like Skarlet, Sindel, and yes... Even Shujinko and Taven (as much as I may not like them) getting discussed. Need I say it again to please you? I'm going to go with yes so here it goes.... IN MY OPINION.

And yes this was chosen by the people so I have no real reasons to complain but I am just giving MY OPINION as you seem to want it so badly. Just my two cents. It's not like a mod just went "I'm going to say Sub-Zero wins this without a poll by the community" so there is no real reason to complain. I know that. People feel he is deserving and I am fine with that but IN MY OPINION he is the less deserving of the two. I should have expected someone to jump down my throat for having a different opinion.
