I really don't want any of the "alities" to return, except fatalities obviously. Brutalities I fail to see the point of as they're practically fatalities. I might warm up to the idea if they really added a bit flare to them. Animalities for 25-30 characters could get quite silly. Only way I'd be cool with either returning is if they returned for specific characters. Sort of how Li Mei's Deception fatality was practically a Brutality and Liu Kang's fatality in MK9 was practically an animality.

That's where the line should be drawn. Hara-kiris do not interest me at all and I rather not see them return unless they really tweak them, I found them pretty useless in Deception as I hardly used them.

The only other finisher that I think would be nice besides Fatalities are Friendships. Babalities were absolutely adorable in MK9 and I think many casual gamers loved those, so Friendships would be a nice jab at cuteness for MK10.

Also, I'm not going to lie- I can be a lazy gamer. A shame, I know, but at least I'm being honest. That however, doesn't mean that I don't understand that sheer feeling of AWESOME when you unlock a character you fought your ass off to get! MK10 really needs to go back to having majority of the characters unlockable. That's what I loved about Deadly Alliance and Deception, you had to work for at least half of the cast. With MK9 everyone was unlocked at start with the only characters unlockable being Quan Chi and Cyber Sub...big whoop! *rolls eyes*

I'm hoping we get unlockable characters back and I'm not talking one or two. I want at least a good number of the characters to be earned. Helps with replay value when it comes to me.

Wish there was hype music in MK10. Music to hype up the fights. House and Electronic Dance Music is hype music because it's rave/party music and that kind of music is played out loud in nightclubs and bars. Having eastern or creepy music isn't meant to be played out loud. Hype in MK will never stop if there's hype music

Just read something in TYM and I found it pretty interesting. Basically there was a guy guessing that Boon might be revealing a lot more in his latest tweet. First of all the tweet was backwards; people in Chaosrealm are known for speaking backwards. Now Boon didn't type that completely backwards which is...well what Chaos is all about. Could that lead to leakage of Chaosrealm characters? We all know that Havik is almost deffinitely coming back since he was one of the few 3D MK games that was shown in MK9. Plus in most of his moves he used to twist his body and break his bones. And the poster that was leaked...well that was a broken spine too.
Is that all a coincidence? Might be. People might also be looking into stuff way more than they should. Despite it making great sense! Nonetheless, food for thought

I would argue that if NRS doesn't use the same engine as MK9, this game is in serious trouble. If all the old characters are now in the Netherrealm anyway, you wouldn't be doing any real harm to the story by putting them in. They'd simply be a part of the background. Don't get me wrong, though: I do agree that they shouldn't arbitrarily bring back characters for gameplay purposes. You're 100% on that. I just think MKX has a foundation to go that route.

But I seriously hope they keep the fundamental engine. Instead of Tekken, let's look at Street Fighter. Super Turbo, Third Strike, and SF4 all essentially use the same engine with added or removed mechanics. I think the absolute worst thing they can do is re-invent the wheel with the gameplay.

And truthfully, I don't think the genre died out because of lack of change. It died because the net quality of the genre was atrocious. People remember Street Fighter and Tekken, but they don't remember Dark Rift or Bloody Roar (I love Bloody Roar, but those sequels were some of the most broken shit I've ever played).

Despite the Fighting Game dark age, Tekken and MK were still selling pretty well. Street Fighter would have sold better, but Capcom stopped making Street Fighter games.


It's a difficult metric to gauge because the learning curve for Tekken is so much higher than it is for 2D games. If Mortal Kombat used the same model as Tekken, the new game would probably be far inferior to what we're actually getting in 2015, but I'd wager it would pull in far more new blood. EDIT: KungLaodoesntsuck sorta beat me to this last point.

So this is obviously going to be for PS4 and Xbox One. But I wonder is there a chance for a 360/PS3 release? I know some games are releasing on current and last gen systems and I would sort of hope MKX would be one of them. Mainly because I don't see myself getting a PS4 atm and definitely not an Xbox One(yuck).

But this game won't be out until 2015 I'm guessing, so I have time.

I hope MK10 is on Unreal Engine 4 for PS4 and Xbox One. Dead characters are reimagined with moves tweaked and new characters.

I'd be really happy if MKX is available for both PS3/PS4 and 360/XBone.

I don't want to buy a PS4 any time soon. But if MKX is next-gen exclusive, I will buy a PS4. Plus a true, next-gen MK experience would get me even more hype!

I would think it would be a wise decision to release on both current and last gen consoles. That said, if this game is indeed being built to be played on current gen consoles, then I'll just suck it up and get a PS4 for it. But if releasing it on PS3/360 doesn't hamper anything, then I say why not? But I could see Neathrealm Studios being dirty and giving certain consoles awesome exclusives and leaving the 360/PS3 players in the dust. So maybe it's best they just stick with current gen.


I'm hoping the characters are revealed a bit better than they were in MK9. Don't get me wrong, I like the nostalgic way they revealed some of them through magazines and screenshots ect, but I still find it sad how a good number of the characters never got an official render for the game. I want good high quality renders of the MK4-MKD characters in this game, I want them to get good promotional art.

@MKWhopper, I'm really not for guest characters at all. Only way I'll be fine with a guest character is if they were DLC and it was up to us if we wanted them in or not. But I do not want a Kratos situation.

That said, a KI character could be fun. I'd take that over Batman or Superman appearing. Though Harley Quinn being a guest character would be kinda cool... Her and Mileena would make a fun tag team duo lol

The problem with Freddy (and Scorpion in Injustice) is that they were selling them in the season pass and didn't let people know before hand who was in it.

People expected 4 MK characters, not 3 + a horror movie character.

Having them optional, not taking up main roster spots or part of the season pass would be the best solution IF we are to have them at all.

I have to admit I was biased when it came to Freddy lol I'm a HUGE slasher movie buff so having Freddy in MK was like a dream, I remember also pulling hard for Jason lmao But yes, I remember all the controversy. Good times lol

But I hope like you said they avoid all of that this time around. Try and focus 100% on MK characters. Like I said, if they wanna throw in a guest as DLC I could care less(as long as they don't have to come with the season pass), but I don't want any in the initial roster.
