Eh, I don't think we should make assumptions and think he is boot #2. I mean, Sub-Zero and Kano had different costumes in the comic than their in-game renders.

I'm really hoping that this is one of the two people they announce this week. I love his concept and like the thought of a gun based character. I'm hoping that he will be not so much like Deathstroke and more like Noel Vermillion from BlazBlue. I know that is very unlikely, but a guy can hope. Plus, I never liked Deathstroke in any of the fighters he's been in.

Of course, we don't even know if this guy is a character, but I'm really really hoping he is. Because he is someone new. I don't think I'm the only one sick and tired of the same old bullshit that NRS has been giving us. I was really hoping this game would be a new beginning, but it hasn't looked that way since the first reveal. If the 2 reveals this week are Mileena and Shang Tsung, I'm going to be seriously disappointed.

He has a great design. Looking forward to seeing more of him and hopefully in the game too

He's definitely one of my most wanted characters now.

He might be boot #2--we never actually get a good look at his feet in Chapter 4--but I think the big thing pointing against that is how boot #2 seems to have this jacket or something behind it, yet Erron's poncho doesn't go down that far.

What can I say? His design is fucking amazing. The idea for a gunslinger sounds interesting, and he has connections to Kotal. So he has shit going for him.

Other than Cassie, Erron has to be my favorite new character.

He's not everyone's favorite. His design is just well recieved and we are excited about a new bad ass.

I love the old characters with a passion, but new characters are welcome in my book if they are done right. So far he looks like he's going to be interesting ,so we are anticipating him. The mystery is also a heavy appeal.

My theory is that NRS are allowing the comic to introduce the next-gen characters, hence why we haven't seen any next-gen character reveals since E3.

Takeda, Jacqui and now Erron Black I suspect are all playable additions to the roster. Look how hyped we all are. If my theory is correct, it's a great marketing strategy.

Interesting...A good strategy for the die-hard MK fans who will read the comics, gets them hyped for the new characters in the game. Not so much for the casual fans since they're less likely to buy the comics.

This Erron Black dude just oozes awesomeness. Really hope he's playable.

The character's look alone is a breath of fresh air for the franchise, along with Kotal and D'Vorah. So far, these new characters, in-game or comic only, are heavily impressing me.

I don't have any firm data, but I think you might be underestimating the reach of the comic. The first run of MKX #1 is sold out!

Also, word of mouth is beginning to penetrate social media. Searching the hashtag #MKX on Instagram and Twitter brings up all kinds of pics and screenshots of the comic - especially the panels that show next-gen characters, and people are commenting/discussing those pics.

He's ok, never been a fan of the western gunslinger thing (I liked Red Dead Redemption though) but ill need to see more of him before I decide whether I like him or not.

Also, "fallen ally"...so this is the ally of Kotal Kahn who gets killed in an upcoming issue of the comic?


If so, it kinda sucks if he is really as awesome as you guys are saying because we know he will only be in MKX if he dies during the Outworld civil war.

a cowboy ninja is fucking amazing. its not 2 things i would have thrown together but it works. if hes not in then these comic guys need a job in the NRS design crew.

I am all about Erron Black. His aesthetic is pretty close to what I was going for with the Western-themed character I did for MKO's last Kreate-a-Kharacter contest. The name and the design on this guy have an immediate edge -- he feels so Mortal Kombat that I would be disappointed if he isn't in the game... but also fairly impressed with Kittelson for creating someone with such instant appeal.

I found a picture of him from the new comic and I must say...

HE LOOKS AMAZE-BALLS.

He makes me think of Roland Deschain the Gunslinger from the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. The way this character blends the mysterious stranger/gunslinger aesthetic from Westerns with an Eastern influence is very reminiscent of how King blended various influences with Western elements in the Dark Tower books.


It is also VERY MK because one thing MK has always been about is blending Western and Eastern.

I'm going to be PISSED if this character isn't in the game. This is easily the best design/concept for a new character out of the ones we have seen so far.

Sign me up for the 'I don't get it' camp. I 've nothing against the character and if he's a new playable character then cool, but I'm not getting the excitement everyone else is. Which is odd, because every little thing I see about Kotal or Cassie or D'Vorah give a fresh shot of hype-drenaline. To each their own I suppose

i agree and i think he's in. i cant go with fallen ally thing. devorah and black are just his strongest warriors, do you think their deaths would make him go kamidogu? when i hear fallen ally i think of alliance not a comrade. im thinking they are talking about sonya or somebody kotal cares about back in outworld.

What do we really know about him? Not much actually. He's a ninja cowboy with guns and a mask. Maybe he's one of the fallen ninjas in disguise (Noob because Black or Ermac or Chameleon because Chameleon was there the entire time!) or maybe he's an intelligent and eloquent mercenary from Earthrealm.

Erron is an odd first name; apparently it's Celtic meaning 'Irish man or Ireland'. So E. Black could be an Irish samurai ninja Outworlder. Fun.

Agreed. D'vorah and Erron come across more like sidekicks than allies (I say "sidekicks" and not "henchmen," since Kotal doesn't seem especially evil.) Whoever he loses is more likely to be a major league player. I'm not so sure it would be Sonya; it kind of seems like Earthrealm would be a tenuous ally at best, and it would be an important Outworld ally that he loses.
