I am loving this fucking character. He looks like the cool headed badass type that always keeps his calm no matter the situation. I love ninjas and i love cowboys so this is my new favorite MK character by far. I haven't been this excited for an MK character since the announcement of Kotal Kahn. Oh man it looks like if Blondie (Clint Eastwood's character from The Good, the bad, and the Ugly) had sweet passionate love to a female ninja and gave birth to Erron motha fucking Black.

He absofuckinglutely belongs in MK. More so than the majority of post-MK3 characters.

Like I said on another thread he better not be another Art Lean just to be killed and never talked about ever again it just sounds lame as hell for a great character like this.sad

I'm grooving on it. I really like that introductory shot, how they are all the primary colors. Gives that trio in particular a really cool visual impact.

Everything about Erron Black says "that's a guy to watch out for." He's not something I'd ever think to include in the MK Universe, but he really fits well. To me, most MK characters touch on broad ideas in popular culture, with their own twist that makes them unique. A ninja-esque loner cowboy is something that feels extremely Mortal Kombat to me. I wasn't really feeling the Salazar description, but I'm totally sold if Erron is Salazar. I'm excited to see more of him for sure.

And Kotal's ally will be someone else. Erron Black is going to stick around. You don't design a character as audacious as Erron Black to be a red shirt. Jacqui on the other hand...

Hope Black is in the gam ..... Jacqui however is really generic. Unless she ends up getting Cyber arms or something , she just seems very boring.

For me personally, this guy has the same appeal that Kabal and Kenshi have: any move this man makes is practically guaranteed to be badass. Even when you strip away all story context, you take one look at this guy and you know he's going to be fun. One of the rare designs that sells itself -- it's a little more apparent that he isn't just "some guy" like Mavado, or Kobra, or arguably Takeda or even Cassie. He's carving a clear archetypal niche for himself.

You could say that's possible for anyone who isn't specifically a spotlight character (and in the wake of MK9, even the spotlight characters aren't safe anymore).

The biggest thing I don't get is how he got into Special Forces lockup with all of his munitions still on his person.

I'd wait to see what Takeda will look like as an adult before writing him off as "some guy." I imagine his final design will be completely its own thing.

... And that's why I say "arguably." Takeda is showing signs of promise, especially after pulling out that whip. But the fact that we're having to "wait and see" with him underscores my point: Erron Black has immediate appeal, driven by a striking initial design. That's why so many people are going nuts; we already see what there is to like about him. Takeda, almost literally, has to grow on us as he establishes his identity, which is very nebulous at this point. Erron Black already has an identity (archetype-wise).

Apologies mate, I was juggling too many quotes and copied the wrong name. It's now corrected.

Even though I am not as excited about this character as many others are, I do agree that he fits, I don't really get the "he doesn't fit" thing considering how diverse the MK universe is already

The more I look at the picture and try to imagine him in the game the cooler he is getting to me. Hopefully he keeps the hat and mask, it an adds an element of mystery to me and that's something I always enjoy because you get to imagine what's under the mask for the most part.

Although, I have never been a huge fan of characters that mainly rely on firearms, so idk how much I will end up liking him IF he is in the game.

Forrest Fox barely had any detail to him(simple outfit) and was just used to move the story along. Where as Erron has a full detailed badass outfit, i really hope he doesn't get killed off. i think they wouldnt waste all that detail on someone that was just going to die.

Oh an no Fox isn't coming back, hes dead as dead(unless a noob saibot kind of way since bi-han is now sub-zero again but that's off topic wink )

Literally, all it takes is a cowboy hat, a ninja mask, and a cape thrown together over and old Mavado costume and everyone is head over heels for it.

It makes no sense for his character first off. If he was such an outlaw, I dont get why he would align himself with Kotal Kahn, and travel in a team with him to places. His outfit suites more of a loner stereotype.

Secondly, nothing is known about any of his abilities or fighting styles, other than the presumption that he is indeed "salazar" from the casting sheet, with the vague description of a weapons mercenary type.

Now I know it sounds like I'm hating, but I'm literally judging by the TWO poor background images of weird angles of the costume displayed in the comics.

I'll hold off further judgement to the character ACTUALLY speaks! or thinks! or something.

Agreed. Honestly, when I read the comic I was expecting the main issue to be how Kotal is a more diplomatic leader, looking for an Earthrealm alliance as opposed to 'SHAO SMASH' and how great Frost looked

It also suits a mercenary. If Kotal's paying him, I don't think he'd care how many people he's working with.

Remember back in the day when you walked by the arcade, and all you had to really go on was how a character looked? No back story, no dialogue, just a costume. Maybe you don't. I don't know.

All i'm saying is sometimes a good visual presentation can capture the imagination way better than a back story. A picture's worth a thousand words, etc., etc.

I'm really hoping Salazar was just a code name for this guy. Because Erron Black is a great name and that is a fantastic look that he has.

It seems to be par for the course a lot of the time. It's one thing to not like a character, it's another to act like anyone who likes him is daft. His appeal speaks for itself.

Exactly, what a character looks like is what first attracts you to it (works the same way in real life, shower and shave guys)
