Ah MKvsDC where Baraka was the only nice surprise in a 10 man lineup of MK1 stinkers and Kitana+Jax....oh yeah and Shao Kahn woo.

Fuck that game though I refuse to call that a true MK game. It was DC/Midways pathetic attempt at mimicking Marvel vs Capcom and should generally be ignored.

And I'm not going after you I just find that often repeated statement to be pretty dumb. Edit: Yeah I think he's going to sit out a couple games now that he's fuckin dead. No one has gotten the shaft more in MKX than Baraka.

It's all good, we all have our opinions man. You think he should be in, I personally would prefer that spot to go to someone else. No big deal.

I'm just saying, Baraka is in an elite crew of only Sub, Scorp, Raiden, Liu, and himself. That's pretty high honor. Regardless if one sees it as an actual MK game or not, the fact remains we've been playing Baraka for the past 10-11 years. No reason he can't sit out a game, to ensure someone else who wasn't in MKD, MKvsDC, MK9, or any of the 3. That's all I'm saying here.

I know he's your 2nd favorite behind Reptile. Baraka is in my top 15-20. I just think there's room for others that could use some play. Everyone on that list I posted who I'd prefer to see in, either sat out MKD, MKvsDC, MK9, or all 3.

Fujin wasn't in any.
Cyrax wasn't in MKD or MKvsDC.
Smoke wasn't in MKvsDC.
Sareena wasn't in any.
Li Mei wasn't in MKvsDC or MK9.
Havik wasn't in MKvsDC or MK9.
Reiko wasnt in any.
Bo wasn't in MKvsDC or MK9.
Frost wasn't in any.

As for the part of him getting the shaft the most in MKX. That's debatable, but I understand where you're coming from. You saw your 2nd favorite serve no purpose other than to just get killed. I guess it depends on if that's worse or better than no mention at all, or being just a head on a table.

Regardless, I understand your frustrations are more aimed at all the people who crap on Baraka, think he's boring, or bland, and just don't want him in because they don't like him. That's not how I feel or what my point was about, so no issue here.

Baraka wasn't a MK8 surprise though, like when they started throwing around iconic I knew he'd be in. The real surprise was no Johnny Cage.

Baraka's death served as the changing of the guards in Outworld. While the new kids were the new blood of Earthrealm, Kotal and D'Vorah killing Mileena's last ally(and klassic character) put them in the same position in Outworld.

It definitely could have been executed better but his death wasn't useless.

I wouldn't even know how to properly react to Baraka being dlc for mkx. On one hand I'd be fine with it because, well, he's my favorite character, but on another I'm more looking forward to him coming back another time. Conflicting emotions for sure.

Sektor I'd be on board with. Never cared for Cyrax and thought Sektor was far cooler and interesting imo, but I do get why it wouldn't make sense to put sektor besides cyrax, so again, more conflictions.

How is Sektor not getting any love from the community? I know Cyrax is popular but Sektor has NEVER had an appearance without being paired up with Cyrax, whereas Cyrax got Deadly Alliance. If it is true and Sektor is DLC then I'll be psyched. He was my main in MK3 and had easily one of the best fatalities in MK9.

Cyrax will be back. Let Sektor have a little spotlight for once.

I don't even think they were doing that. I think it was just an excuse to show off D'Vorah for her roll later in the story.

This would be the only thing I like about his inclusion over Cyrax, the fact that he's never been the solo Cyborg of a game. Beyond that, it's a real head scratcher to me, and it just further makes me question their roster decisions.

Sektor gets some love from the community, it just seems like there's more overall love for Cyrax from what I've seen. On this poll: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2015/jul/26/which-mortal-kombat-characters-would-you-hope-see-future-dlc-mkx-cast-your-votes-here/

As well as the competitive community in MK9, and from what I've seen around here, Cyrax was the more favored of the 2. But yeah, like I said, I like Sektor, and of course I'm biased towards Cyrax but...

What bugs me the most is we have no word of what Cyrax is up to, or if he's even alive. He was a living character coming out of MK9 and he is nowhere to be found, not even a mention in Story Mode. It's just odd.

I wish I could think that Cyrax going without mention in story mode meant something but NRS seldom has that much foresight especially when it comes to roster.

Maybe they didn't but it made sense to me. That being said, I'm fine with Baraka staying out this time. He had a weak showing.

He came back in Gold after getting cut in two by Kung Lao. Maybe in the new timeline his impossible survival could be surviving getting his brain and heart mushed together.

Ah, now it feels like the old MKO again..... Good times, good times. I love good speculation. :)
Ok good just want to make sure that's clear. Never take my shit or salty language personally I'm irritated with the situation not the user. Can apply that to most of my grievances of MKX which are surprisingly little outside of character choices and Story Mode.

Whats starting to bug me about the cyborgs is that while Cyrax and Sektor didn't make it into Deception they were in Deadly Alliance/Tournament Edition 2 years before that. And MK: Gold before that (along with Baraka I know).

Cyborg Smoke was in Deception and now we've reached the point where the thought process among fans (myself included) is "Well you have to have a cyborg, its not MK without a Cyborg" and I don't know there's something about that that really bothers me.

One last thing about Baraka (second favorite male btw) is that what always steams me is not that he died, it's that he died as an NPC. It's that fact alone that makes me angry. I'm not too broken up about Mileena because I can still play her, y'know?
If I wasn't tired of Quan Chi's bullshit from MK9 I'd feel similar about him too. Sektor was my favorite cyborg from MK9 and I even got someone salty on this forum from using him back then.

So if he was in a story mode fight with a new design, I'd feel the same way as I do with you know who.

I also like Kintaro, Havik and Drahmin and despite them dying in comics I'm alright with it. Hell some of them had a better comic run than the last timeline.

And believe you me I just KNOW Kittelson has got something sinister planned for Queen Sheeva for S2. But I won't mind because she managed to be made as a noble Queen that aided on the side of good for once and that fulfills all that I've wanted to see from her.

What I'm trying to say is that I DESPISE the idea of killing unplayable cameos with even the slightest hint of new assets because that seems like such a waste. Sektor despite being a head on the table is still the same MK9 head on a table.

Like fuck if they had simply just copied either one of Baraka's MK9 models and put it here so he could do the job it wouldn't hurt nearly as much.

And whose to say that Cameo Deaths won't be a new thing for future MK games?

Bo Rai Cho was pretty damn close to sharing that fate in story mode. All they have to do is say "Bo Rai Cho died from Shinnok's attack and was never seen again." You know like Poochie, It's that simple to kill him off.

Know what the real solution to all this is and I guarantee it would shut everybody up.

More DLC. Let this be NRS's Street Fighter IV.

But that's sadly not going to happen.
/endRant.

I know Sindel's not super popular, but if they did her right she could be the great zoning character everyone's been begging for in this game. Her broad concept (banshee screams, prehensile hair, flight tricks) really lends itself to the three-variation system, as well.

What was the hint implying Sektor? I missed that.

Idk lately sindel has become more popular. I guess it's cus people always want what they can't have especially when it been dangled in there face. One moment people are like god I hope she not in the game and the next there like sindel should of been in this game wtf. I don't care. The dlc will most likely have a second female and I like all the female characters who have a high chance so I'm happy. Fujin is also good the only character I can see making it better for me would be havik.

I wouldn't mind Sektor.

I'm assuming the "Encore" hint is for the characters that canonically died this game (Baraka, Sektor) giving them a chance to go out with a bang.

They might have something special in store for Cyrax (and Jade) in the next installment.

A lot of people over at Gamefaqs seem to want her.

If it's handled that way then yeah I'd really like that. I'd rather have characters that are only around for here and now like Sektor, Baraka and maybe Sareena than those I would have to worry about making it into MK11.

Basically avoids the Skarlet treatment since you don't have to put them in the next game.

.................

Just wanted to point out that this was very well said.

I'm under the believe that the main roster should have been 29 characters and those 4 characters in Story Mode should've been present in the core game as playable fighters from the beginning. There is absolutely no reason what-so-ever Baraka, Tanya, Sindel and Rain had to sit out yet characters like Ferra/Torr and Reptile got to grace our presence and hardly have a thing to do, if not the same amount of screen time as those 4 characters who missed the cut. (And no, that's not a jab at those certain characters, just an honest opinion) They simply should have allowed the roster to be four characters larger and incorporate those 4 into the base game. It's a complete mistake and a wasted opportunity that it didn't happen that way.

With that said, however, I had no problems with the deaths. No doubt Baraka will miraculously come back anyway as he has a very nasty habit of surviving what we shall call "incidents" with other characters. lol Hell, I'm even under the belief that Mileena may find a way to clone him if she wakes up in a cloned body herself, as alluded to in her ending. If she does indeed come back, she's going to need her ever-faithful companion by her side, after all.

Cameo deaths I'm fully okay with and this is why. I would rather these characters show up and be involved somehow, someway than us sitting here for potentially another 4-8 years (since that seems to be the development cycle now) and wait almost 2 decades to see some of these characters again. If Kai came back just as death bait, I would be perfectly fine with it and I even like Kai. It would make him useful and he may be remembered which leads me to this thought..... As we know, death doesn't mean diddly-squat in this game and if anything, getting a glorious, brutal death is almost like an honor in this franchise. It doesn't happen to many and once it happens and you witness it, you don't easily forget it (Liu Kang in DA, the Earthrealm massacre in MK9, Mileena in MKX).

As for the others (Shang Tsung, Jade, Cyrax that have been mentioned here), I fully believe they're purposefully being saved for MK11 for whatever purposes. Perhaps (if he doesn't die Sunday) Cyrax may rejoin the Lin Kuei instead of joining the Special Forces? Hell even if he does die, Sub-Zero could just collect the remaining parts and rebuild him. He kept Sektor's pieces after all. lol Perhaps Shang Tsung will team-up with Liu Kang this time around instead of Quan Chi? Perhaps Jade will bring that mysterious woman into the picture and the Dreamrealm (which I'm supposing is where her subconscious went considering it looks an awful lot like the area we were shown in Tremor's ending) will play an important role in a future plot? Time will tell, obviously, but the quiet surrounding these characters is deafening and leads me to believe it's fully on purpose.
