I think boon needs to do an interview and explain their rationale and thought process behind the character choices for this pack. because I consider myself a massive MK fan and I am just stumped at these charcaters. Regardless of how well they play or don't play I am just having such a hard time figuring out the reason behind their choices. They say that they listened to the fans yet I have followed this games release on numerous sites since it was announced and never anywhere have I seen a request for leatherface! Or many requests for other guests for that matter. Their has been very few requests for alien and most of those requests I hve seen were on the back of predators inclusion in the game. What I have seen tons of requests for though funnily enough are more MK charcaters! Who'd have thought people would want them in an MK game???

It really appears to me that NRS has been pressured into including so many guests to help promote future movies. There is a new Friday the 13th movie on the horizon, more alien movies coming out and a brand new chainsaw massacre movie coming out next year titled...... Leatherface! So have these stupid character decisions been made to help promote and launch upcoming movies? It certainly looks that way to me.

Either way I think the fans of the game deserve some explanation from NRS because these choices are just bizarre! I watched the trailer again today and it still seems like a bad joke to me I mean come on leatherface?????? Seriously????

I think I speak for a lot of fans when I say we want to want their stuff. We love Mortal Kombat, but as consumers a lot of us don't like what we got regarding the roster so yeah, some are gonna raise hell in the hopes that they don't make the same decisions again in the future.

Baraka xenomorph is a "jumping the shark" moment for me. I cringe and am embarrassed I ever loved this game franchise for 20+ years. MKX now has more wrong with it than right. Considering the comics have the only decent story, one would assume Reiko, Havik, Sareena and Fujin would be obvious choices for KP2. I never would have thought my interest in MK would fall to zero, but it has. There is not one character in this roster I care about as their plot/purpose is shit. Warner Brothers gave new life to the series with MK9, but it has now devolved the game in to Warner Kombat.

You know what pisses me off...well, a lot of things about this situation. But one more thing is if a fan asked him about this. What possessed them to snub actual Mortal Kombat characters in favor of more guest characters. He'll just have that Ed Boon smile and try and sell the hype and go "Yeah we always wanted to have Alien in the game and we finally had an opportunity and fans really wanted it and we're just really excited to do it."

I have no more faith in Boon. If you remember what he did with MKA i can only imagine that he wasnt happy with the lore and mytholgy of the older MK. apperantly Boon was not on the same page with Tobias all along. And was was slowly changing the entire franchise. in other words killing the franchise.

Im aware now that most thing from the old good MK days will be history, lost if it's up to Boon and NRS. They have not the same vision as what Tobias had for MK. Don't forget that most of us are fans of the series because of what Tobias made up, not what Boon did. Boon had some good additions to the series like, secrtets, krypt and konquest but that's all. And it was fun because it was in the style of the older MK games.

I have lost faith. I can't help to see Boon as a hater on the old lore and decisions. And deleting 90% of what we know and love from the old MK days.

Yeah, sue MK n have it end. That wouldn't make sense n just ruin it for everybody.

I'm just waiting on some gameplay. I'm upset about the pack (mainly Leatherface) but I will admit Xenoraka is looking pretty sweet and I'm sure his gameplay won't disappoint.

But Bo fucking Rai Cho dudes. Belly Bounce footsies, Acid Puddle infinites, Monkey Flip AAs...oh my.

And I've said this elsewhere, but I really want to be more excited for Tri-Borg as I've always liked all three but I just feel like I won't be actually playing Sektor or Cyrax but some random cyborg who's uploaded their consciousness and movesets. 6 in one, half dozen in the other I guess, but still.

Even if this wasn't the ideal pack, I'd bet that the gameplay will sway quite a few people. All I know at this point is that I'm constantly thinking about BRC to stay positive. I can't wait to take him online and rep him in tournaments. He's been getting a lot if hate as well since he "took the spot" of Trilogy classics like Noob, Rain, or Shang Tsung.

They BOTH are probably to blame. Let's not make it out that NRS are just these poor helpless victims who had no say in the matter and that WB bullied them to have two more guest characters. I don't believe that.

I believe WB knows guest characters sell and of course wanted some for this game, but I don't believe NRS is exactly innocent in this either.

I was surprised when a co-worker at work became excited when I told him Bo'Rai'Cho was one of the new DLC characters- and he doesn't even care for MK. Alien didn't impress him, Leatherface didn't impress him, that Triborg bullshit didn't impress him- but he got hyped when I mentioned Bo was back.

So Bo has some footing out there in the casual arena despite what some snobby MK fans like to believe.

I think NRS had a hand in it but I'd say it was 80% WB. Leatherface was 100% WB and that's the worst part of the pack. I can only speculate as to how involved NRS is when it comes to decision making since WB is the one who calls the shots.

Disagreed,Why would WB choose Leatherface? WB choosing Freddy Krueger made sense considering they own the A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. WB choosing Jason Voorhees made sense considering they have rights to the character(though Paramount is temporary holding the rights for future theatrical films in the Friday The 13th series). WB choosing Alien makes sense considering they own the Alien films and they're in the middle of resurrecting that franchise with Alien: Covenant and not to mention all that buzz about Neil Blomkamp's proposed Alien 5. As for Predator, well you can't have Alien without him so ok.

But Leatherface? Why in the hell would WB choose Leatherface? Texas Chainsaw 3D was released damn near three years ago and bombed hard- and the upcoming film still has no release date. Sorry, I don't see WB going "Get Leatherface, we need Leatherface". That's totally NRS doing.

I'm not disagreeing that WB doesn't run a tight ship and have their demands, but we have to be careful not to put every single piece of blame on them while exempting NRS from any wrong doing.

Intresting to note that they explored much more options for the DLC. Michael Myers and the Terminator were talked about but for whatever reason they never worked out. I think the Terminator would have been a huge sell.

Other than balance patches, after kombat pack 2, I hope NRS drops support for MKX. I'd rather have the most requested MK characters appear in MK11, rather than DLC for MKX. Seriously, what is the point of having Sareena or even Fujin at this point when MKX's prime is over. The player base is around 130 (room population) at least on PS4. I'd rather have Sareena in the next game with an updated graphics and fighting engine. Also, I hope the variation system doesn't return.

With the lame direction of the story,the writing, the reboot, the botched incorrect retelling of events of MK1 to MK3 , guest characters, dumbing down characters like Kitana and Milenna, countless rectons that ruin characters, half ass forced main protagonist characters that we were FORCED to follow like Shujinko, Taven, the Kombat Kids taking priority over the real characters trope. I miss John Tobias way of telling a story, the way he encompassed every character within a story, so that EVERYONE had a role to play AND shed light on who they are. This way , you weren't forced to following anyone story. Instead, you could pick any character and feel like you aren't playing someone less important. The last MK game to do this was, Deadly Alliance. I am near a breaking point with the MK series. It is like others have said, I feel like the MK team doesn't even know what makes MK special.


I enjoyed MK9 and MKX gameplay, but to me, MK lost its uniqueness. Now it is about nostalgia , rehashing, retelling, redoing, inserting modern hipster tropes, aka the kombat kids. The MK series hasn't really done anything exciting or anything new in almost 10 years plus (Armageddon turns ten next year). Of course I am looking toward MK11. Though, I fear what will they do to the characters and lore next. I am sure the gameplay will will be new and improved.
Myself, I won't purchase any of the KP2 characters. I've never liked Bo Rai Cho. Like all of the post MK4 characters, I hope they never return in a MK game. TriBorg sounds lame. I won't even mention other 2 guest characters. Tremor and Tanya are the only DLC I've bought. I've done my part in just saying NO to guest characters.
