He looks absolutely nothing like the Beneteau designs. His outfit is not ragged nor does he have a huge hood with just his eyes showing. It screams MK9 alt by far.
I can't wait until his official render is released. Surprised they didn't do it right away like Quan Chi last year.

I'm telling you.

Some people are going to hate on it until the bitter end because how NRS talked about the game at first made them expect this to be MK: Third Strike or something and it's just not.

But I am of the opinion this could actually dethrone MKII and MK9, becoming the best MK we have had yet.

The guys said during the steam, that they will be doing at least 2 more before game release.

Sometime next month and one in March. The next stream could be mid February, just guessing.

Absolutely love Ermac's fatality. Really happy to see a "decapitation and trophy head" fatality. the Decapitation fatalities are my favorite. Subzero's classic head with spine rip is my all time favorite. I really hope they bring this fatality back to this game, would love to see how it looks with the new graphics. Even if subzero doesn't have it, perhaps another character can pull it off in their own way and show off the trophy head.

For some reason, I think that Goro may have this fatality now. I can see him using his four arms to dismember the body and then rip off the head with spine at the end. It would be fitting for him.

I have finally had some time to watch the stream in all of it's glory, so even though I am late for the party, I will still throw my two cents in. I will try not to repeat things people have been mentioning in this thread. Let's just say, that this stream got me even more PUMPED!!!!

First: Ermac floating is cool, but poses some questions gameplay wise. I already mentioned it would be weird if he could be tripped, as he now works as sg that is not really affected by gravity. But what about ground effects, like ice puddle by subby, or reptiles new puddle of acid from his trailer. Wouldn't he just float over them? I guess they will damage him for the sake of balance, but i still find this a little bit lame. Also Lao's ground hat saw thing, wouldn't Ermac just float over that too? So it is a good concept, but will be either gamebreakingly OP (if he can float over stuff on the ground) or just a bit weird (if he won't be able to). I would also like to see how it interacts with a jax-like ground slam type of ability. Or if Jax is not in then Goro's ground stomp.

Second: Ermac by design -in my oppinion- is freaking awesome. I can live with him being without the mask, it is always good to see the ninjas individualized, I know for most people who mained Ermac in MKT he was THE ninja, but I like interesting designs. He looks really menacing, especially his emotionless dead face, looks just terrifying, like really an amalgam of souls within a husk. So good job on that.

Third: Select screen wise: I like how different the height of characters are, though it is a bit weird how short reptile is, almost as short as Kitana. So the lizard-raptor thing in this timelime will devolve into a procompsognatus I guess. Still the walkaway, and everything else looks awesome.

Fourth: Overall UI design: I think the UI is a bit underwhelming at the moment, literally it's feels like just some stuff thrown on screen, it is functional, but e.g. comparing the energy meter to MK9-s, as well as the health bars, you can clearly see why i find it underwhelming.

Fifth: Two new fatalities: Ermac's pretty insane, though once again the case of overkill, but Lao's is something I find really amazing. What would have been even cooler is if the head would not split into two vertically, rather than just have the spinning hat get stuck in the face of the victim half way and then stop, it might be less gory but would have been more cringeworthy. Overally though what I find really promising of the fatalities is that there are finally no arm rips, head knockoffs, and other stuff that would not work on an opponent who is not made of styrofoam. Every dismemberment is "believable" which makes it more terrifyng and less ridiculous.

This might seem like bitching, but these are very minor complaints, overall I can't wait to pick the dvd up on the 14th! :)

Agreed, fully. At the very least, the energy meter on the bottom needs to be far more colorful so it is more obvious when you are "charged" up for enhanced attacks. As is, the UI looks like a clone of Injustice. That said, it is one of the very few complaints I have about the current build(s) of the game. Most aspects of the game have met, and far exceeded, my expectations.

Head decapitations are the staple of fatalities. I don't mind them unless they find different ways to do them, like Ermac's.

I agree. I thought he would have used it as a grinder as to grinding their head down to shreds.

I got to thinking during the stream...

Why are people so set on the idea that Sub-Zero has to be Kuai Liang OR Bi-han? One or the other?

I mean he was both in the last game? He could easily be both again in this game. It seemed to work out for them.

We've already seen a masked and an unmasked Sub-Zero in the comic book, wearing completely different, yet both entirely new costumes. Only the masked of which we've seen in game.

The Unmasked one was conveniently scarred across his eye in the same distinguishing way we're used to seeing on the younger brother.

We've now been told at least one of the costumes we've seen in action is an alt.

I'm personally banking on Unmasked Kuai Liang being the primary costume and masked Bi-Han being the alt. But they use the masked version for promotion because it's the far more iconic "Sub-Zero" look.

That's my personal guess.

Both Sub-Zero's in MK9 were Kuai Liang.

No, the primary costume was Kuai Liang, and the alt costume was Bi-Han. Both of whom appeared in story mode.

And on top of that, Cyber Sub was Kuai Liang, and Noob was obviously Bi-Han as well.

But the playable Sub-Zero character itself pulled double duty, with one costume representing each brother. I see no reason why that couldn't be the case again in this game.

He does. It was either Mystic or Spectral. But it was also the same variation where you're able to take flight. So at least there's the option, lol.

I just re-checked the stream. He's floating in all three variations. sad

Really? I could have sworn that I heard them say he didn't float in one of the variations.

Bummer. =/

I agree that there must be variations in how they do the same kind of fatality. Ermac's is really creative. I also agree that Kung Lao's fatality could have ended differently. First part where the opponent is screaming and scared shitless is a good way to start it, but the ending feels dull. The grinder idea, i feel, works best here. it would have been more impactfull if kung lao would have gotten the opponent by the shoulders and just moved the head around so that it could be grinded into pieces, resulting in a puddle of head pieces.

Anybody else notice that when they pick Kano his Cutthroat variation is red? I'm wondering if they changed it (Cybernetic made more sense to be red) or if they let you pick what visual aid you want with your variation?

If it's the latter I'll be pleased.

I think that would mess up players if the colour indicator can be changed.
