Great stream! I kinda wish that Paolo had spoken up a bit, but he seems kinda shy / reserved compared to thevother guys, so certainly won't hold it against him.

As for Ermac, I like him a lot. The floaty version seems fun, but I'll probably use the soul version more. His look sets him even further apart from the ninjas, which I definitely dig. I mean, look how skinny he is! And the hood, and the powers... He's just so unique now. More than ever before. Well done NRS!

Kung Lao looks fun as hell. Buzz saw version looks awesome, and the one where you throw it in to the background is intriguing. The fatalities for both new characters were also very well done. The detail they're getting I'd insane!!

Also liked the other characters. Raiden looked more fun to me in game then his initial reveal.

Still not seeing a character that I'm over the moon "holy crap, definitely going to main them" just yet. Let's of well done characters though. Very happy with how it looks and plays so far, even if it worries me slightly that the devs were having such a hard time pulling off combos...

My biggest complaint with the stream? "Master of Souls." That title belongs to another....

Also kind of peeved they didn't show Reptile and Kitana now. But they had a pretty serious warning tone when Paulo was hovering over Kitana on the select screen...I felt like there was something there they straight up don't want us to know yet...

Ermac himself looks alright. I like how they went with his MK9 alt as inspiration for his primary. Though he's probably my least favorite zoning character in the MK universe. The *shudder* "Master of Souls" and Mystic variations look fine, but Spectral looks....limited. Ermy's flight looks smooth, but his air normals look stiff and impractical, and he apparently won't have a fireball to hit at those odd angles like Sindel. I can't see myself using Spectral much. Overall, not bad, but I still probably won't touch him.

Kung Lao. *shrugs* He's Kung Lao, I guess.

Overall, this stream was new stuff, but it didn't really do anything for me.

My biggest peeve is Kung Lao seemed to dominate anyone character chosen. Here is hoping it is only because the other player was not as good. However, after the Kung Lao issues of MK9, already concerned about how powerful he appears to be.

Loved it. All of it. Even the floating bit. Seems like it would be difficult to attack though unless you had scorpions air throw or teleport. Idk but it's gonna be funky to work with. Can someone post all the intro dialogues used?

I am still excited for the Ermac reveal it really made my day.

Minus Cyber Sub, but his dive kick was pasted from Somya, who is top tier in MK9.

This might sound odd, but am I the only person who noticed and is happy that there is no signature animation for any character before their fatality? Idk why, but that always struck me as dumb in MK9.

I'll start with...Kung Lao!

*His variations are totally insane.
*His fatality is ok I guess. It would have been more crucial if he shredded his opponents head instead of splitting it. Still brutal though.

Ermac Time!

*Design/costume is cool. Better than all his past ones. This is probably his alt.
*Variations are cool. Spectral is sweet, but I'll probably go with Bearer of Souls.
*The full fatality that was shown is cool, but was the long thing following Subs head, his intestines? If it is, that is weird. The head came though the chest and the intestines are in the pelvic area.
* Would have been nice if they showed his other fatality instead.

Ermac's overall variation trailer is better than Quan and Raiden's. Kano's is pretty even with Ermac's.

I think this Sub-Zero will turn out to be Bi-Han in a whole. Kuai Liang can come in as Tundra, Blizzard or Hydro. Maybe Cyber-Sub will return or Kuai can be the new Noob?

I would have liked to see Kitana and Reptile, but waiting isn't a problem. Reptile is already cooler than Ermac.

4 characters next month and one of them will be Mileena, without a doubt.

Why are people so set on the idea that Sub-Zero has to be Kuai Liang OR Bi-han? One or the other?

I mean he was both in the last game? He could easily be both again in this game. It seemed to work out for them.

We've already seen a masked and an unmasked Sub-Zero in the comic book, wearing completely different, yet both entirely new costumes. Only the masked of which we've seen in game.

The Unmasked one was conveniently scarred across his eye in the same distinguishing way we're used to seeing on the younger brother.

We've now been told at least one of the costumes we've seen in action is an alt.

I'm personally banking on Unmasked Kuai Liang being the primary costume and masked Bi-Han being the alt. But they use the masked version for promotion because it's the far more iconic "Sub-Zero" look.

That's my personal guess.

Both Sub-Zero's in MK9 were Kuai Liang.

Bi Han was an alt costume, though

Awesome stream, I just wanted to see more Kung Lao and he looks pretty awesome I gotta say. Him and Reptile easily have the best x-rays, and Ermac definitely has one of the worst.

I don't really like how Ermacs' face is showing, takes away from the mystery but that's just nitpicking.

Overall, I can't wait to see Reptile next stream. Also the new -ality should be interesting..

I dunno if anyone's pointed this out yet, but the other day I watched Guardians of the Galaxy and I think I found Ermac's twin brother:



Seriously, he's totally Ronan! I much prefer his MK9 designs over this one though; him and Reptile's kind of put a little dent in this line of awesome redesigns. Except this one's a little extra disappointing for me because I think his MK9 costumes were both some of the best designed costumes in all of MK. I also think his voice is not quite as good as it was in MK9. And he doesn't appear to have gone the good route yet like in Deception, which I really liked before. I hope I'm wrong on that one, or it changes.

However, his gameplay looks fantastic. I also liked how they slimmed him down, mostly because it shows that not all male characters are going to be buffed out like in previous games. I wish Liu Kang in MK9 had a physique more like that.

So I'm happy with this stream. I love Ermac and I'm glad he's in. Not totally blown away by his Ronan design, but gameplay makes up for it. Just need Johnny Sonya, and Liu Kang and I'll be content with the roster.

Don't know if it's been discussed but what do we think "PunchWalk" is? One of Goro's Variations or a new special move? Fatality? Maybe he literally punches while he walks even without pressing an attack button?

Speaking of alternate costumes, what if "Kitana" is Mileenas alternate costume and thats why they didnt show any Kitana gameplay because it's actually Mileena ;]

YES! Ermac has left his ninja roots now! Gone with that mask! Gone with anything ninja related! Ermac is finally his own character without ANY looks of a scorpion or sub-zero ninja!

Bravo! Wish they had done the same for Reptile, but that's ok I guess, as long as Noob and Smoke sit this game out and Rain will be DLC with a redesign much like Ermac (SO without the mask and stuff)

Wonder when Is the next stream involving Kitana and Reptile?

I need to read everyone's posts before I post, but did anyone point out that Ermac looks very similar to that fan art from a while back? I'm looking forward to the next stream, hopefully they'll have one every week. I'm really curious about Kitana. I hope she is in her primary costume now, it looks more like a fighting costume. Hopefully her alternate has her long hair and high heels. It doesn't seem like Kitana without long hair and high heels.

My feelings are a bit mixed on Ermac.

I wish he had a non-floating stance in at least one variation. I'm just not feeling it, him floating around like that all the time... I really like the slim look he's got though. Not sure about the face. I got that MK Legacy II vibe from it, although it's no where near as bad. Maybe it will just get some getting used to. His moves look awesome as always, love the new invisibility where he totally goes off screen.

I expected him to be back and I'm really happy he's back, love him! I think the guys at NRS really like him a lot as well.

Kung Lao's throw is awesome, his mobility is great again, his tricks with the hat are insane. Looks like he'll be a bit harder to master at high level of play with all those hat tricks.

He sounds very youthful though... That had me a bit surprised. His 'walk away' on the character select screen is by far the coolest and he has that cool stance he does in some of his intros. He never disappoints me, always so stylish. The fatality was sick and really liked the X-ray too.

The only thing I don't like is the special-effects that goes with his spin move. It looks very windy, while before it looked more like an energy shield. I liked it better before, and this has me really worried for Fujin.

Displacer Raiden teleports are sick, super quick and I love the animation. The special effects for Displacer Raiden are just stunning.

Quan Chi looks so tall, at least compared to Kung Lao on the character select screen. Kitana definitely looked even shorter that Kung Lao. Interesting, they brought in more diversity in characters' heights.

Kotal looks really cool. Wish they used D'Vorah, but hopefully they will next time. Speaking of next time, can't wait for that Kitana demo.

Oh yeah, the surprise portal in the background of the stage was really cool.

I don't like how bulky Sub-Zero and Scorpion look. Scorpion's hands on the character select screen really look way too thick. Sub-Zero's design overall just doesn't do it for me sadly. He looked better in previous games, especially in Deception (primary), Deadly Alliance and MKvsDC.

The thing I dislike he most though remain those ugly glowing parts on Quan Chi's costume. Ugh.

But overall, the game is looking great and I'm really excited for the future streams.

Actually, they accidentally showed Reptile's main costume on the select screen during the stream, and it appears he doesn't have a face mask in it or not much of one because you can see more of his face.

So, Reptile

I still don't think NRS has mastered skin melting away. When he does his fatality, the face just disappears.

I think this is the best Reptile fatality, and it's fan made. It's what comes to my mind of what his acid shower fatality should be.

As for the end of his fatality, I think that he's gonna open Kung Lao's head open like a book.



Kung Lao's X-ray is certainly great. The flip happens so seamlessly and perfect. And I'm so glad the bones move inside of the body. That's one thing that was bad in MK9 was that all the breakings were copy paste.

I can't remember who came up with the fatality for Kung Lao, but I'm glad that they were right about just having the head cut in half, and the struggling as well.


Now Ermac, while I was never a fan of his alt in MK9, and I'm still iffy about the hood here, but I LOVE that most of his face, including his mouth, is showing. He looks so fucking cool.

I love how the teleslam is quick and simple, I love how with the telepush, he just puts up his hand slightly, I love his X-Ray, his fatality is VERY creative and disgusting, and his winpose was fucking awesome.

If his second fatality is indeed ripping guts and bones out of their mouth, I would be very satisfied. For once Ermac would have great fatalities.
