I know that the story of MKX has a 25 year span, and I remember somewhere it stated that there was a 10 year timeframe from MK3 to MKA or something (it said that in someones bio). in Konquest, Shujinko was 40-something during the first Mortal Kombat tournament, and since there was a 25 year gap, that fits perfectly in with him being in his old age during the latter part of the story, perhaps thats when he is about to find the last of the kamidogu?
Although I'll probably be slightly bothered if he doesn't make an appearance, I'm confident that NRS knows how to make an interesting story!

I think Shujinko could work, but that would need a retool.
First, somehwta justify his actions prior to the game, and forget about the MKD Konquest mode. Second, retool him from a total tool into someone who's at least a rudimentary urge to question authority.
Seriously, if I would ask him to derail the nine oçlock train, he would probably say yes I'll do as you ask.

I don't want him playable to be honest, however I feel like they kind of need to address him as during the before, during and after the events of MK9 old man 'Jinko has been hard at work.
Raiden seen Shujinko and Onaga in one of his visions so I'd hope he stops Shujinko from gathering the Kamidogu and the Dragon King from being reborn.

It would be cool to have him mentioned, but I never liked the "sampler platter" aspect to him. He felt kind of uninspired and corner cutting in the way a lot of MK was back then.

Sad that Shujinko didn't get any love. Despite him borrowing everyone's moves in MKD, he was a very interesting character. Loved his old voice, especially in his narrative in the Deception intro.
Shujinko felt too uninspired. I liked that they tried to go for that martial arts Grand Master look, but he was missing that MK touch. It's like they picked him out of a random Kung Fu movie, and called it a day.
If he comes back, he needs a major overhaul and a unique fighting style. No copy & paste nonsense.

I think it'd be neat if his moves did reflect the 'copy paste' part of him. Weave different characters together into one. Don't just steal Kung Lao's combos and toss some other's specials moves at him.
Have him weave together Scorpion's backflip kick into something from another character.
It can work, and work well. Just needs the effort, hell Cassie Cage is already an example of this.

I agree, same with Shinnok too. He felt so boring in MK4 where he just copied move sets. I believe NRS has the ability to make any character interesting, I mean, at one point, everyone hated Stryker, but in MK9, he fit in just fine and was actually quite fun! They can do the same with any of the other characters from MK4- MKA.
My main problem with some of the older MK games (MK1-MK3), was that there was too many characters that originated from palette swaps/basic ninja outfits, I'm one of the few (apparently 1 in 100) that finds the newer characters far more interesting than the old, and I hope at least some of them get more exposure.
Drahmin's true form still hasn't been revealed in his ending, but judging from the concept art, its really interesting, along with Quan Chi's zombie staff.
Dairou and Darrius just felt like Filler characters but there was apparently some backstory between them against Hotaru.
Kobra could've easily been the rival to Stryker, classical street thug vs cop.
There's just so much potential, but a lot of people don't give them chance because they "don't feel like they're from MK"
Uninspired is a very polite way of saying what was wrong with a lot of the characters from the dark age of Mortal Kombat. I can probably count the number of characters they're realistically considering from that time on one hand.
That's not to say they can't be given a handwave explanation on what may or may not have happened to them. "And everyone whom sought the Kamidogu was annihilated" or some such one liner.
That's not to say they can't be retooled for the better and Stryker-fied but it's seriously doubtful.

No thanks.
Boon said in one of the trailers that there will be an elderly lady by the name of Blanch. She might be somewhat like Shujinko.

Sorry to ask but is there any chance that your old account name on MKO is HankyPanky1?
You do almost qualify on the same level as ideas go.

I wouldn't mind if the most hated characters in the MKDA-MKA era make kameo's at some point in the story mode, much like Motaro did in MK9. I would think Shujinko would apply here, but he was the central character in MKD, so he could possibly have a bigger role. I honestly doubt he will though, I'll think he'll have a kameo at best.

Nope, I just got an account on here two days ago.
If Shujinko came back, and still used other characters' moves, I think you should be allowed to choose which moves he'll get, and EVERY special moves should be selectable (except perhaps those of Shokan, Motaro, and any beings with more than two arms or two legs). You should only be able to choose a few though, and no combinations that would overpower him.
I like the thought of him firing guns, puking, throwing balls of flies or screaming at people. If he's not going to get any special moves of his own, then they should let us have fun with his ability-absorbing gift. I personally liked his version of Scorpion's spear, with him calmly saying "get over here", especially when used on Scorpion himself.
His combos and fatalities should however remain individualized. Those swords he carries could be part of one of his selectable fighting styles.
Storywise, well, I always liked his MKA ending where he goes mad with power. The game's final boss is supposed to be someone unexpected. What if it's Shujinko?

Him being the final boss was my exact same assumption! Perhaps he got possessed by the one Being? Tired of taking requests of finding peoples lost belongings? Monster Shujinko?

That is certainly garbage. Why give a name to someone like that and only having them being an interactible object...
