DvLZGaME Ed Boon Interview Reveals Future Bad Guy Characer Reveal

Gamescom 2014 gave us a few new character details, more gameplay impressions, and a renewed appreciation for Kano: the latest klassic character returning for Mortal Kombat X.

With new aspects came much discussion concerning yet-to-be revealed secrets, or things examined at E3, but forgotten along the way. Middle Eastern gaming site DvLZGaME.net had the wherewithal to look forward, and gave us our best clue for who's next!

The Creative Director revealed back in June that Mortal Kombat X will boast the most new characters of any sequel installment. Despite those hefty implications, he persists that fans should not jump to conclusions where klassic fan-favourites are concerned. One DvLGaME interviewer put forward a request for Kitana -- not the first to try -- but received only general reassurance.

Looking ahead in the promotional schedule - Boon revealed the next character on the announcement slate will be a bad guy. The level of their villainy is unclear, as is their status as new or returning character. It's a nice detail to come away with, just the same.

Also noted: We will learn more about the mystery online mode revealed in the original press release sometime soon. Other sources suggest an official date for the 2015 fighter is also looming.

Li Mei was on the side of the good guys in the Armageddon intro. She runs directly into Hotaru's naginata (who is on the side of evil) as the two groups clashes.

I hope it's a female "bad guy". Boon wouldn't say "bad girl" because then it'll be too obvious. Even the females are referred to as "bad guys", so my guess is Mileena. I hope so. Or Reptile is he literally means a guy.

I believe it was already confirmed in an interview that there would be post-MK3 characters in MKX.

The foundation of Mortal Kombat is not its characters though. It's the gameplay, the gore, the fatalities... these are the things that make MK to what it is. They could replace the entire roster with all new characters and it would still be MK, as long they kept those features.

I really liked her whole dynamic of fighting her new-found desire to serve the Ancient Emperor. If she's brought back in MKX, I hope they keep that event with her soul fusing with the Dragon King's soldier, and expand on it further. I doubt it though.

Yes! I liked that she was a simple villager who took a stand against the DA but man when I saw her ending I was in awe. Now THAT is one twisted lady. Betrayal is pretty common in MK but I don't think it had ever been done to that degree. Or at least it wasn't obvious...like, at all. I'd love to see how she would of looked once Onaga "transformed" her into his queen.

That thread has nothing to do with this discussion. You see, replacing Sub-Zero with another Sub-Zero is not "replacing the entire roster with new characters" as I stated above. That thread is about which of the Subbie's people prefer as being the one in the game. It has nothing to do with what makes MK into MK.

The iconic mk1-3 characters is a good jumping off point for NRS to take their franchise in a new direction with. That is all I am saying.

People don't see that as a real MK because of the lack of gore. And that game had alot of the core iconic MK characters in it.

That was seen as a fake MK because half the roster WAS NOT MK!!! That is why, not the absence of gore. It didnt feel like a real MK because it wasnt a real MK

I swear, if I hear one more interviewer ask "How do you come up with fatalities?" I'm going to burst into a rainbow.

Anyway, I'd hope for Mileena or Tanya, but let's not kid ourselves, these reveals have been a total sausage fest so I'm guessing bad guy actually means bad guy. My bets are on a new character or Quan Chi.

Both of which I'd be fine with. Funny how just three years ago I loathed Quan Chi but for some reason I'm itching to see him return, probably so he can get some new clothes for one.
