Not every character needs a launcher. A bunch of characters in UMK3 didn't have launchers but they all turned out to be viable.

Many of the characters that didn't have a launcher had either a teleport or a special that gives free hits, so that's how they balanced it out. However, they've given Mileena and Scorpion launchers, and they also have teleport/free hit moves, so it still needs balancing.

Scorpion has an Air throw, should this be universal?

Air throws are significantly less important than juggle opportunities, so no, that doesn't have to be universal in my opinion.

LOL. Scorpion's easy Jump Kick into Airthrow combo does 20% dmg. My brother was getting pretty pissed at it. lol.

And once you have them frozen Sub-Zero has the same universal pop-up everyone has the move really close up, Jump straight up and punch pop-up. That's about it other than doing his 2, 1, 2 into a freeze to freeze them mid-air but that leaves you with little option for further juggling so the pop-up JP is really his best and only.

Some balancing should correct all of this. I get that you can do devastating ground combos with Sub-Zero, but casual players won't want to learn him if they can't pull off the same type of stuff that Scorpion can do. Not every character should be easily accessible, but I would think that the series' icon would have a softer learning curve.

I dunno m0, Sub has always had a pretty tough learning curve, even in the early games. I think he's fine without a pop up.

MKA would like a word with you. Considering that every character has the standing JP pop-up, which I'm not sure why that would exist in the first place, they don't have much work to do when balancing in that regard.

Sorry I was just commenting more on the part about Airthrows being less important than juggle opportunities. If all Airthrows do as much as Scorpion's I think those moves will be pretty advantageous to have. I know in the previous games it was always more difficult to play against Jax or Scorpion when the person was really good with catching you with the airthrow as it limited a lot of combo opportunities with most characters.

I'm fine with the NJ Pop Up. Plus, Sub has a pseudo pop up. His BP, FP, BP, freeze combo leaves the opponent hanging in the air for a pop up. I'm easily getting over 30% with Subby now.

All the characters X-Rays were the same when I played. Hans Lo explained that this would be changed.

He said you would need to hold down one of the bumpers, and then perform a special move at the same time to perform an X-Ray in the latest internal build.

It should be a large sequence of buttons, like D,F,D,F P or something like that. It needs to be harder to pull off than just pressing one button

If you look Here at the 00:01 mark on Sub-Zero's command list you see his "Deep Freeze" X-ray attack and the input for it is "Right Bumper + Right Trigger"

I'm not sure if it'll change or be different per character but thats the input it seems to be right now at least.

I thought holding the bumper and inputting a special makes it Enhanced.

^if you press BLK at the same time as the input, it's enhanced.

As for the quote (where was it being quoted btw?) I do remember them saying a while back that the x-rays would have different inputs. However, I remember them saying, more recently, that the X-rays have easy inputs and are balanced out by the meter because they wanted it to be "more accessible" for people just picking up the game. I think they scrapped the idea of having unique inputs. It's a shame, I would of liked to see ultra-ish inputs in the game, but I guess it's not a big deal.

Making the Brutality inputs easymode seems counterintuitive to balanced gameplay

I mean they don't need to be as long as fatalities, but still. You don't see Human Torch using his Nova Blast on a whim, right?

I'm going to update the information on the first post with terminology relevant to the new MK game when I get my hands on a copy.

Sheeva's "anti-" supers are absolutely worthless, especially the duck grabber. No range, no set-ups, insanely difficult to pull off without burning a bar. If you're going to force me to have a useless move, at least make it more appealing then an imaginary mix-up.

While talking about Sheeva, I can say that her launcher shouldn't have the same starter as a three-hit insignificant combination, especially when the second input exists in both as the same exact key.

Ridiculously slow. I mean this as in she would never catch a decent Scorpion, let alone Kabal (Kung Lao is actually slower then he seems).

Did I mention her X-Ray doesn't combo into anything?

This belongs in a/the rant thread but these are issues I'm having with my new main. I love the challenge but my record is reflecting the glory days already.
