I'm wondering if they should have a larger meter or at least have the enhanced specials take up less of it. A lot of the enhanced specials are just not looking worth it. Unless it's like the combos you can dish out with the three specials is more powerful then the actual x-ray/super or if the super is hard to land and the specials are just a lot safer. Idk... I guess i'll wait to see how it plays out... but hopefully one of the values that they can adjust without an update deals with the super meter, in the event that enhanced specials really are useless.

We haven't seen enough of the EX moves or their properties to even begin to make this kind of assessment.

Oh I know, I wasn't saying that it will be, just that it could be and I wanted to hear from people how they think it's going to balance out.

Going from the GDC demo it looks like enhanced specials are just safer overall to land.
Showed off a lot of use of the special bar in general.

Ya I noticed that, it's looking pretty solid. Even when they did use x-rays Kano's seemed to do half the damage that Jax's did, i'm interested in their reason for doing so. I guess i'll have to wait until I get the game first. Edit: on second thought, i think i see why.

So here is some great news. In the interview Ed Boon says that the team has been getting tourney players to come in and test the game. Sounds great to me. The closer and closer we get to the release, the more optimistic I feel
What do you guys think of Ermac just based off of footage?
I think he is looking really strong. He has a a flying downward fire ball. Those are always cheap. He also has a ground pound that takes on the whole ground unlike Jax's. The other thing is all of his mid range command grabs. They do a good amount of damage, and he doesn't have to get that close to pull them off.
So far it all looks really good. His moves should be unsafe or else he is too damn good. However, we have only seen an early build of him so I won't be too hasty to say that he is broken as all hell, but he does look to be really strong.

I think he's going to play exactly as he did in MKA, which is the mid-range keep away game. Ermac in the 3D games has always had kind of a steep learning curve because you have to play a certain way to win with him, and this is looking no different.
I have my doubts on MK being in EVO.
Since Midway arent really known for making balanced games.
Yes, I know they had tournament players test it. But it doesnt really mean that much.
Since they need more time to fighure out the mechanics of the game, frame data, and etc.

Clearly balance is a non issue. MvC2 and MvC3 are both evo games and they are both highly unbalanced. Even SF4 was unbalanced. Simplistic gameplay could be a hindrence but that seems about it to me.

Not really, Deception and MKDC were broken by players within hours of release.

I could be wrong but it really doesn't look like Ermac has a downward fireball. It's more like a downward dragon punch with green effects judging my the boon interview.

Yah your right. I looks like a downward version of Ironman's heavy attack in MvC3.
I don't really know what the purposes is. Is it an anti-uppercut? Is it just an anti-air?

MVC3 is pretty balanced... everyone is broken. And please don't bring up Sentinel. Most good players don't even consider him top 5.

Same team with the addition of the lead designer on Shaolin Monks with a new name under a new publisher.

Yah, I'm starting to think -VEGA- came here just to troll us. Seeing as he is a capcom/snk fanboy, and it doesn't really seem like he knows what he is talking about.

The original plan seemed to be make everyone broken to balance the game but they kind of fucked up there.
It seems like anybody using, Dante, Akuma, Sentinel, Pheonix, has a big advantage.
And I don't give a shit what good players say Sentinel is a cheap fuck. He has the most health in the game, the most range, the second highest damage, cheap assist, and a spammable beam. If I went out of my way to make a super tight tournament level team with an emphasis on killing Sentinel then they have a point. But I play with characters I like, and I don't use infintites or cheap spam projectiles, so when somebody uses Sentinel its a huge advantage for them.
Either way EVO seems to ignore balance as long as 4 characters are god like.

Clearly you have never fought LV. 3 X-factor Dark Phoenix. It's a fucking pain in the ass unless you have cat like reflexes and can perfrom a Lv. 3 hyper as soon as she transforms.

That's what I mean though, lv3 x factor dark phoenix requires somehow keeping xfactorless ordinary phoenix alive until she has 5 levels of super. That is WAY harder to do than the average Dante / Sentinel / Magneto spam, cause all of those characters require real combos to kill. Ordinary phoenix gets killed off of most characters jabs.

Honestly, pretty much everyone is viable except for maybe Cap and Ryu. Imo, Dark Phoenix is sorta like a new Strider in the sense that you have to be absolutely on point with her because she bleeds like no one else, and because she really relies on the rest of her team to make her effective.

Maybe it's because I play more for fun rather than making a kick ass team for tourneys but I don't understand how Cap and Ryu suck. Ryu's beam hadoken is awesome and it seems like he can fit in well with any team, and Cap has a lot of tricks up his sleeve.
I think Viewtiful Joe, Spencer, and Haggar are pretty crappy in comparison to everyone else.
