It took them forever to patch what needed patched, and now you can't play as Kratos, classic costumes aren't showing up, the online play is still fucked up , AND EVO IS ALMOST HERE !!!

How the fuck are people supposed to play this seriously and competitively when NRS is fucking around ?

Mk has always been unpolished. And we seem to accept it every time. But if people are going to be winning tournaments off of infinites then something is terribly wrong.

Wait so you can't play as Kratos (which is somewhat of a fix)

You might recall that deception had a few infinites, and Armageddon had several 100%+ combos, not to mention the create a fighter 100%+ and also "air cancels," that was interesting. If I recall correctly, superman had an infinite in mkdc.

Clearly, standards and testing is not a high priority for this team. But I keep buying the games because I enjoy them.

He's right to stand up and complain about it and I'm glad a high level player with so much respect among the tourney scene is doing just that. We've always strived for perfection amongst the community and settled for excuses, and whilst MK9 hits a lot of nails on the head it's by no means far from perfect.

I still remember waiting up for that fail of a website launch to be over, the "exclusive content" that was promised for Xbox fans that for yet to be revealed reasons never emerged and the phantom demo of the game that our console never got. They seriously dropped the ball in terms of advertising in this game by being incredibly unproffessional and lazy, and we just took it like bitches. Now the same seems to be happening with the online features and the patches. Tom's only highlighting something we all know, that NRS can be seriously fucking lazy with some important aspects of their products and to a lot of players thats just not acceptable anymore. If anything I hope it gives the team a serious kick up the arse into realising that they have been very unproffessional with this game and that no, it's not acceptable.

Personally, I havent played online at all, so I've no experience with these patches or online lag at all (Thank god). But with the stories I'm hearing about the fuck ups on the online circuit, I'm very reluctant to ever fight online at all now. The sound of having patches installed into my game and serious online lag just to face a few Scorpion or Noob Saibot spammers really doesn't appeal to me.

Let's remember: we keep buying it. They make their money.

The difference though is that NRS didn't promise or advertise their other MK games as tournament level. Everyone knew the other MK games were just for fun.

NRS are the ones that came out and said they would fully support this game the whole way to evo and make it a serious fighter ...... if they aren't going to do that, don't say you are.

I understand that they have a budget, and WB isn't going to pay them forever to keep fixing things, but they should have had this game tested heavier during the initial phase then.

To release a patch that actually puts more glitches in the game, than their were originally, nerf moves that didn't need it ( smoke bomb otg ), and not even address the problems is just ridiculous.

Basically its just them laughing at us because we are too busy yelling at each other that we don't even notice their fuckups. And when we do notice it, its too late for us to do anything about them. So whos laughing at who now?

I'm not dissing Netherrealm here because I like the game but if arguements like this one have to happen in order for patches, fixes, etc. to be protocol so be it. You got to look at this from both perspectives regarding tournament aspects. This has nothing to do with online its all about serious play, thats why people investing their time into this game are reacting to Netherrealm's actions with the problems in the gameplay. I don't work there so i can't speak for them but I think they just need to like Aris i'm sure said is communicate with the players. So if thats done they can have less stress on their shoulders and have fair play so it comes down to skill and effort not cheapness.

They should just stop being so secretive.

The advertising was all bullshit.

When a new character was released they would just release a minor image. Like Stryker for example. That pic of him getting punched by Jax, was the only promotion we got for him.
And random gameplay videos like Nightwolf's. Like seriously? How fucking random. Even though I enjoyed it it was just so god damn random. And one pic of Smoke. Not even a gameplay trailer like Noob Saibot got.


They should stop with all this bullshit about patches and improved net play. Stop being so fucking secretive.

I think they're the only company I know of who actually pride themselves with their secrecy. It's a fucking joke.

I remember less than a month ago seeing an update on my Facebook from Batman Arkham City, asking it's fans which character from the city should they release as the next trailer. The fans spoke in masses for more Catwoman material.

Literally two or three weeks later the Catwoman trailer was released at E3 and fans were ecstatic. That, to me, was perfect. The developers took the time to ask the fans something and worked on it, no secrets, no waiting around, no bullshit. And if anything it made me so excited about buying that game because I got to see what I wanted.

NRS on the other hand? They're like drizzle in a very parched desert. We waited years for a decent Mortal Kombat game and they rewarded that with the most audacious and ludicrous advertising I've ever seen. I mean I know Boon likes his secrets, but that was a fuckin piss take. Fans had to hack the demo in order to learn anything decent about the game and the render releases/promo video's were too scarce and random. And despite the product turning out quite decent, it's still left a very bland taste in the community's mouth.

This whole childish "TEEHEE we wont reveal half of the roster until a month before release! And we also wont provide consistent, informative updates like we promised because that gives too much information away TEEHEE! bullshit is a fucking joke. I can see why Brady's pissed. It's incredibly lazy and childish for a company (especially one under WB's name) to be so blase about a product with such demand on the basis that they think keeping secrets is a good thing. A little honesty and clarity wouldn't fuckin kill them.

Warner Bros is very fimiliar with bullsht and secrecy. Well atleast with their biggest money maker Nolan.

Near christmas last year, there was an Incetion blu ray version that was in a silver case resibling the devisein the movie. In Europe, this could be bought at their local walmart. In the USA, exlusive to their site anda limited quanity when Europe got a fuck ton. That was pretty fuckin pissy and retarded.

No it's not.

When it comes to tournaments, people are trying to make money. They're trying to get sponsorships so they can travel to competitions without ridiculously high expenses. They're trying to make the game successful on a higher level so electronic sports can be seen as viable entertainment by the greater media.

To say that "it's just a game" is the same as saying "it's okay for MK to be shitty because it's really not all that important." I don't believe that. Something tells me that you don't believe that either.

TestType01 is right about the patches; I think Brady got a little carried away with that aspect, but next time NRS, dump the stupid outdated secrecy and TEST THE GAME PROPERLY!!!!

I love this game and I have been an MK fan for many years, but their attitude right now is really shitty. I hope that the fact that a respected player who is in consistent contact with them calling them out on their tardiness and halfass answers for everything (Uhhh, a few weeks ya'll TWICE) gives them the kick they need to get their shit together!
