WB Games Releases Shadows Trailer for Mortal Kombat!

A day after IGN released the "Shadows" teaser trailer for the new Mortal Kombat, WB Games has released an HD-quality non-watermarked version of the trailer. The trailer features several kombatants, seen only by their shadows (hence the trailer name), fighting and finishing each other. The music is Disturbed's "Another Way to Die", off of their fifth album. (Unlike Adema's "Immortal", this song was not created specifically for Mortal Kombat.)

In addition, WB Games released the following press release with the trailer.

Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are unleashing an all-new trailer for the highly-anticipated video game Mortal Kombat releasing in 2011 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The rocking trailer features several classic Mortal Kombat fighters hidden in the shadows preparing for their next vicious attack. Even in the darkness, players will recognize the blue blaze of Raiden's electricity and the iconic spear attack of Scorpion. You'll find these kombatants are just as brutal, if not more, under the veil of darkness.

The new Mortal Kombat trailer’s soundtrack is provided by the single "Another Way to Die" from the new album Asylum from hard rock band Disturbed. Asylum is the fifth studio effort from the multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated hard rock band and is available everywhere now. The band has 11 million albums and six million digital tracks worldwide, and have scored eight No. 1 singles at Active Rock radio over the course of their career. With PAX 2010 around the corner, more info on the game will definitely be forthcoming. As we learn more, we'll be sure to bring it to you.

Second Mortal Kombat Trailer over at IGN

IGN has just published a new interview with series creator Ed Boon along with a CGI trailer from the upcoming Mortal Kombat game. Below are a few excerpts from the interview.

"Well, right now we're getting ready for the PAX show. This is going to be the first time that the public gets to play, and we're excited about that. We have a number of these events, shows and things that we're planning for. So we do that while at the same time kind of advancing the game forward in general, but our most immediate goal is getting a version ready for PAX."

"[At PAX] There's going to be all the characters from E3 – which I think there were six or eight – with the addition of Kitana from Mortal Kombat 2 and Cyrax from Mortal Kombat 3."

"And now, we're coming back with a vengeance. As aggressively as possible in all those categories that I talked about. To me personally, I'm confident that the people who play are going to walk away totally psyched to buy this game."

The trailer is comprised of the characters silhouettes fighting one another as shadows. Scorpion materialises out of his shadow engulfed in flames. The song accompanying the trailer is by rock band Disturbed - Another Way To Die.
