Midway Releases Green Lantern Render from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe!

Hot on the heels of the release of the Jax render, the folks over at Midway have released a render from the DC Universe side of the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe. This time, the character render is that of Green Lantern, specifically Hal Jordan. The environment in this render shows the headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps, with one of the Guardians (the founders of the Corps) in the background. Outside the window, a planet (presumably Oa, the Guardians' homeworld) can be seen, indicating that some of the game may not in fact take place on Earth. As with other renders, renders with black and white backgrounds have been made available as well.

As always, once the official site updates with a high-resolution image, we'll be sure to post it here.

Our thanks to forum member for the heads-up about this new render!

EDIT - 3:15 PM CDT - The official site has been updated with the high-resolution render. Our thanks to forum/chat member for the heads-up on this high-res render!

Noob.com Updates with... Rage?

Mortal Kombat series co-creator and team lead Ed Boon has once again updated Noob.com, his personal website. While his website has been a place where one could find clues about the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, his latest update is more than a little vague and mysterious. This time, underneath the Noob.com logo, there is a single word scrawled in orange-yellow letters: "RAGE!" The reference that comes to mind with this word is that of Primal Rage, which used the word to start matches. Its current meaning is unknown.

Along with the word "RAGE", the hidden text underneath has finally changed. Since the "There Will Be Blood" poster was put up on the site, there was a hidden message underneath that said, "In case you were wondering..." This time, the hidden message says, "NY Style....". So, in total, the message says, "RAGE! NY Style...." We're not sure what this is in reference to, but it's safe to say it has something to do with MKvDCU. Only time will tell.

We'll keep an eye on the site, as always. In the meantime, feel free to discuss this latest development on the forums; as always, we'd love to hear your take on this mysterious new message.

Midway Releases MKast #5 for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe!
Along with the Jax render, Midway has released the fifth in the series on MKast's, hosted by Hans Lo and Hector Sanchez, on the official site! The special guest was lead graphics designer and storyboard contributor, Jon Greenberg. As usual, a summary of the podcast will be provided below:
  • The Joker's fatality may be ready in time for the event in Leipzig, Germany, next week.
  • A playthrough of the story mode is estimated to take two and a half to three hours, for each side
  • A large number of NPCs will appear in cameo roles in the story mode on both sides.
  • Every character will have their own ending in Arcade mode, represented by "paintings" that sound similar to MKDA and MKD's style of endings. It was said that many easter eggs will be given for both the MK and DC sides.
  • Every character will have their own unique fighting "style" and "stance".

As always, MKO provides a download here of the MKast. Be sure to check it out for more.

Midway Releases Jax Render!

Earlier today MK_Nat over at the Midway forums released the render of Jax from the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe! Jax appears battle ready in his bionic metal arms and combat gear. Jax also appears to be wearing the same pants and boots as his special forces counterpart, Sonya Blade.

An especially interesting note is how different Jax's face appears in this render when compared to all of his past appearances.

To view the original thread in which this render was released, click here. As always, once a high resolution version of the render is made available this post will be edited to include it.

The high res version of this render is now available.

Our thanks to MK_Nat for posting the image and to forum user for the lead on this story.

Noob.com Updated with Aquaman Reference?

Earlier today, Ed Boon's official website, Noob.com, was updated with a sketchy concept art that resembles many of the stick figure drawings found in the Krypt of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. This concept seems to show a character performing a fatality or brutality on another with the use of water and a shark. Most likely, this is indeed a concept of the DC Universe hero Aquaman.

The placement of a hook on his right hand (though this is historically the wrong hand) would seem to indicate that it is indeed Aquaman. However, all MK fans should keep in mind that Ed Boon has not always updated his website with factual information. One very memorable "joke" Boon placed on his website many years ago was a concept drawing for a character named Zebron. This zebra humanoid never appeared in any Mortal Kombat games despite this.

Aquaman's inclusion in the game would also conflict with the clues that Kotaku posted a while back, which have so far been quite accurate. In any event, we'll keep you posted on the details should more be forthcoming.
