WWE Wrestler The Miz Petitions To Be Movie Sequel's Johnny Cage

By now you know Johnny Cage doesn't properly appear in the new Mortal Kombat movie, but the door is certainly opened to the fan-favourite fighter -- and WWE wrestler Mike "The Miz" Mizanin is petitioning to be the man who brings the Hollywood martial artist - turned defender of Earthrealm - to the big screen in a sequel.

We're becoming accustomed to the worlds of WWE and Mortal Kombat sharing a mutual orbit. NetherRealm Studios developed the WWE Immortals game, sent Johnny Cage into the ring, and even invited several wrestlers to the launch of Mortal Kombat 11! It's little wonder then that a couple of WWE stars chose popular kombatants for this year's Halloween costumes! Take a look:

He's harnessed the powers of a thunder god in WWE Immortals, hosted the unveiling of Firestorm for Injustice 2, and held the Tag Team Championships in WWE! Now Austin Creed, aka; Xavier Woods, is gearing up to don the Emperor's helmet for next week's Mortal Kombat 11: The Reveal event!

The Smackdown wrestler, and host of gaming channel UpUpDownDown, unveiled his Shao Kahn cosplay helmet tonight, via Twitter. He'll be dressed as one of only three characters revealed since the launch trailer, with more unveilings expected to come at the LA and London event!

WCW Glacier Discusses Mortal Kombat on Keep It 100

The debut episode of The Fight Network's newest podcast Keep It 100 has featured an in depth interview with former World Championship Wrestling star Ray Lloyd, better known to fans as Glacier.

The ice themed striker was conceived in 1996, right as MK Trilogy was hitting arcades and home consoles. Best known for borrowing liberally from Mortal Kombat at the height of its popularity! Just one year after the feature film hit theatres, the gimmick attempted to repurpose the concept of a stylized martial arts tournament fighter -- namely Sub-Zero -- for the weekly serial of professional wrestling.

As noted in a previous feature, it was a concept also pitched to ECW star and eventual WWE Champion: Rob Van Dam. As Lloyd explains, the idea was driven by WCW parent Turner Broadcasting and WCW President Eric Bischoff:
