Liu Kang - I feel that Liu Kang is an awsome character. Liu Kang is fearless and he is always down for a fight. Liu Kang is not like most Mortal Kombat characters. He is very calm and collective and he is the most skilled mortal in fighting out of all of his comrades from Earthrealm. Liu Kang is a pivotal character in Mortal Kombat and is still the champion.

Johnny Cage - I like Johnny Cage's attitude and personality in Mortal Kombat. Johnny Cage is not very serious when he is faced with a threat. Johnny Cage is a superb fighter and he always has something to say to his foes when he fights them. Johnny Cage was first hated by many of his allies exept for Liu Kang who had tolerance for his remarks. Johnny Cage brings the humor and is a very unique character in Mortal Kombat. And also, when Johnny Cage is in a serious fight he will put away his ego and remarks and concentrate on being the superior fighter and the victor. I think that Johnny Cage would always join his allies in battle because he loves to fight and have a good challenge and that is what Mortal Kombat is all about.

Sub-Zero - Sub-Zero is a very cold character who I really like. I like him because of all of the things he has been through, he has experienced a great loss, had been cast aside, had been faced with many forms of death and lived to tell the tale, had overcome great obstacles and became Grandmaster Of The Lin Kuei, and also he had become extremley powerful. Sub-Zero was the underdog in Mortal Kombat from Mortal Kombat 2 and has risen to be a major threat to the evils that are a danger to Earthrealm.

Kano - I like Kano because he is overall, a survivor. Kano had escaped capture many times and is considered in my eyes a badass, who in the end will be alone. I envision Kano as a man who wants to come out on top, but he got to work his way to get there. Kano deals with the Special Forces, The Red Dragon, and basically all of Outworld's forces and always comes out alive from his situations. Kano had been associated with many characters from Mortal Kombat, quite possibly more than any other character in Mortal Kombat besides Kitana and Liu Kang. Kano had also been believed to have been killed many times and yet he always manages to stay alive and sometimes gain something new.

Raiden - Raiden is a mentor and guide to all of the Earthrealm fighters and is looked upon as a powerful figure from every character in Mortal Kombat. Raiden is not like most gods either, instead of sitting back and letting things slide, Raiden is the type that takes action. Raiden is involved in the protection of his realm and that is why he was given the title as Earthrealm's protector. Raiden is associated with many warriors from the past and obtains thousands of years worth of knowledge. Raiden is the wielder of thunder and always takes on the strongest opponents that are an unfair fight to the Mortals. Raiden plays the role as the mentor and icon of the good guys and that is why he is a favorite of mine.

Kano- what Grizzle said. plus, he is one of the very few characters that Midway actually gives a good excuse to come back from the dead.

Stryker- he has what it takes to become protector of earthrealm. also, he makes the most sense of any character. His world was being invaded by Shao Kahn's army of tarkatans and centaurs and he does what any of us would do, he gets armed to the teeth and hits them with everything he's got, eventually becoming the lone survivor of a city once populated by millions. if it wasn't for Kurtis, Mortal Kombat would be nothing but kung-fu and ridiculous fireballs.

Sub-Zero V/ Noob Saibot- he beat five gods in battle and killed one of them. he murdered Scorpion twice. he litterally went through hell and back and stood through tests that would crush any other human. he knew love, then lost it. He is the symbol of every hero that has died, of every man's failure, of every person that has given it their all, but died of exhaustion.... and was turned against all that he believed.

all of the others- to be a true fan of Mortal Kombat, you must not think of certain characters as lesser infidels, but see all of them as equals instead. they all have pros, cons, and room for improvement. from Darrius to Drahmin. Sektor to Kobra. Shang Tsung to Mokap. Reiko to Dairou.

My top 5 characters through the MK series. For me, it's quite hard to narrow it down to five.

1- Johnny Cage. My favourite fighter, for years I was the only person in my area who liked him and could win. Plus I like his whole attitude and personality, he's the light relief of the series, without being stupid like Bo Rai Cho or animalities.

2- Mavado. I know he's not that popular, but I really like him. His whole Mad Max look is cool, he was better with the hookswords than Kabal, and I was good with the long fist style. I really hope they bring him back one day.

3- Kung Lao. Imo, a far better hero and Shaolin monk than Liu Kang, or stupid Shujinko. I was hoping his MKDA ending would happen, and that he'd become the champion.

4- Kitana. One of the sexiest MK women, I especially loved her MKDA makeover. She was so fast in the classic games, and had lots of crazy, high damage combos as well.

5- Kano. The original criminal, and still cool although I prefer Mavado. Didn't like his MK3 look, but he looked great again in MKDA, which suited his thug persona far better.
