Hacking MK:DA for Xbox (moved from general discussion)

I figured I might as well post my findings here, by the off chance that someone smart and knowledgable in this reads it.
On the Xbox version, you can elect to save games on the hard drive. I decided to take a look at the save and see what I could come up with. The direct path to the MK:DA saves folder is E:\UDATA\4d57000c\.
File/Directory Tree:
~\4d57000c\SaveImage.xbx - file - 4KB
~\4d57000c\TitleImage.xbx - file - 10KB
~\4d57000c\TitleMeta.xbx - file - 62B
~\4d57000c\9D4E2DB21C9E - directory
~\4d57000c\9D4E2DB21C9E\Profiles and Settings - file - 4.03KB
~\4d57000c\9D4E2DB21C9E\SaveMeta.xbx - file - 58B
The .xbx files, I assume, are used to identify the saves in the Xbox dashboard. Therefore leaving the file Profiles and Settings to be the saved data.
Within the Profiles and Settings file, I was able to find how many sapphire koins I have. I did this with the understanding that I had 6165 sapphire koins, translating to 1815 in hexadecimal. The code uses Intel's Little Endian byte flip, so that is 1518.
Gathering of some offsets (from the top):
0000002D - name of first profile
00000040 - # of wins
00000044 - # of losses
00000048 - # of globes
0000005A - looks like the keycode for accessing the first profile
0000006A - beginning of the platinum koin number
0000006E - beginning of the onyx koin number
00000072 - beginning of the sapphire koin number
00000076 - beginning of the jade koin number
0000007A - beginning of the ruby koin number
0000007E - beginning of the gold koin number
000000DC - koins lost
Those were the easy ones to find. I'm having a little trouble finding the other values (will do more research later)
I tried editing how much sapphire I had, as a test. I changed 00001518 to 00000F27 so I would have 9999 koins. After booting up the Xbox, I received a message about a damaged save file. So, that's where I am thus far. The matter at hand is to hack whatever is checking the save, and that can be found in the default.xbe. Once that is out of the way, it might be possible to unpack the texture files of the characters and edit them (I'm not sure if the .ssf files have protection, not enough time in the day).

Interesting. Keep us up to date on what you find Garret!

In case anyone missed it from the end of Garret's previous post on this, he found a way to play MKDA in wireframe. I've seen it in action- it's trippy. When he gets the screenshots you'll see what I mean.

I have a mod chip in my Xbox (Matrix), flashed with the EvoX BIOS version D.6. I have also replaced the Xbox hard drive with a larger one (120GB now, original Xbox HD is 8GB). I can see the files via FTP.

I don't think it's necessary to say this, but I'll go ahead anyway: they aren't fake.
Me, Garret, and Agilo have plans for this. Garret probably doesn't want to talk too much more about it, though. We're just toying around with stuff right now.

Honestly, I'm not sure what we can do yet. It'd be wonderful if we could. AcjBizar'll probably lend his expertise, too... let's just say I'm not getting my hopes up just yet- not until we've researched this a bit more, anyway.

I hacked my Halo game, cause it was very easy. I customized my intro and got rid of all the useless files. I was looking at the MK files and noticed how dissarayed they look. Maybe I could make a kick ass intro for MK.

Cool. Have you tried the Halo trainer? My brother installed it. Playing multiplayer with super-jump is pretty funny. And, of course, there's the "bump" addition that you can use to play as members of the Covenent in 1-player mode.

yea the halo trainer kicks ass

Well, well, I must show my interest in such interesting plans. So Garret, common men!! Chill a little, just like yours truly, The-Mortal-God. We want you to keep us informed of your discoveries. As well as kryptondog, common my friend, explain to us in all the details about your relation with Garret in that Ultimate process, we want pics, info, even videos! I'll stay at my computa' for the next 24 hourwa' and wait for all of your replies my "hackers" friends. :) But please don't hack my CPU, I'm a good person. Just realize that you could be heroes here on this forum by having the final word on that "final secret" thing. Peace..

I hope Garret you can lead us to the Final Secret(If there is one).Krptondog I would like to ask you about HALO there. You said about a trainer for it.Now is that for the PC Ver. or XB?

This is some outstanding stuff. I give mad props to you dudes and your 1337 skillz. I am very interested in how you went about this. Being an animator and student of 3D I find the wire frames quite intriguing to study. Also, it would allow for some maaaad whack editing in combo vids. So, please, enlighten us if you could. I look forward to what you dudes have up your sleeves. Peace and love ya'll.

I'll forward this to Garret again and ask him to post how he did it; he doesn't visit these boards much. And just to reiterate, you have to have a mod'd X-Box and a copy of MKDA for this stuff to work at all.

Hello again... finally had some time to mess with MK:DA. Replaced the Adema video with a New Order video (with reason). To do this, I had to uncompress a New Order video and recompress it into WMV8. Then, I encoded it into .xmv form with xmvtool. I made a video out of it and the wireframe hack, and they can be found here (hosted by MKShin via MK5.org):
Adema video replacement
Wireframe hack
Hopefully there will be more to come.
