Hi,

I would like to introduce myself as a HUGE fan of the thrilling Mortal Kombat series! I own all original games of this series, and these are:

Mortal Kombat (SNES)
Mortal Kombat 2 (SNES)
Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES)
Ultimate Mortal Kombat (SNES)
Mortal Kombat Trilogy (SNES)
Mortal Kombat 4 (PC)

This shows what I think of the excellent work the creators have put into such a fighting game series. I have to admit it..... im in love with MORTAL KOMBAT !

Now, Mortal Kombat 5 was released. I almost peed in my pants when I heard it was coming out. And, one look at the screenshots was enough to make me go wild. I wanted to be the first person to buy the game in my country for my PC.

Now I still own my SNES and now I have a pretty powerful PC for gaming. Im not such a fan of consoles myself since consoles become outdated quickly. PC's are upgradable and produce far more sharp and detailed graphics than consoles (only if fully loaded with good hardware).

Anyway, ill get to the point.... im EXTREMELY disappointed in MIDWAY for not even inteding to release a PC version of the best fighting game to ever be released !! Now I want this game no matter what, but unfortunately, im not rich. Im not going to buy a console just to play one game, even if it is Mortal Kombat... I just couldnt be bothered to buy a console since I put all my money into upgrading my PC.

Now I went to play MKDA at my friends house on his PS2, and oh my god its COOL ! Now, im just so pissed that I cant have my own copy of this revolutionary game.

What the hell am I supposed to do ?? What could such a great fan of this game do if he does not own a console ?? Is there even a 0.1% of a chance that MIDWAY might consider a PC version release anytime ??

Some people said that no matter how much we complain, MIDWAY will never release a PC version. Well this time, I have to prove them wrong. So what I need from you guys out there is to help me raise a POLL by posting your vote as a message!

Anybody who shares my opinion about this, and does not own a console, please help me out and post a message to indicate that you truly want MIDWAY to release a PC version of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance!

Thanks loads for your help, and please do VOTE !
A HUGE fan of MK,
Duane Pace.
PS: By the way, MKDA kicks the hell out of Tekken 4, just in case you were wondering. wink

Same here. I dont like consoles that much. Please midway, make us a PC port of MKDA.

And as an apology for being late doing it, add us some new extras like the characters from Torunament edition or something. (J/K)

Seriously, now that MKDA has sold ALL THAT on consoles. Time to port it to PC at least to atone for the lack of an arcade version.

BTW, there is no MK trilogy for SNES. perhaps you meant PC ?

MKDA will NEVER be ported to the PC. When will you all get that into your heads =/?
Besides, with all those "serial cracking, game cracking & warez-type (KaZaA)" rubbish going around, you might as well not get your hopes high about MKDA being ported.
By the way, long time no see, flash-crash...

Yeah sorry.... I have Mortal Kombat Trilogy on my PC, not on my SNES.

Now listen NoobSaibot.... I hope that this is not the case where MIDWAY will NEVER release a PC version of MKDA. I would be happy if it would be released next year... I dont care ! As long as they release it sometime, coz I need to keep my collection going. Mortal Kombat is practically my favourite game series, equally important as the Prince of Persia series which I love too!

So please, anybody who DOES want MIDWAY to simply consider releasing MKDA on the PC sometime or another, please keep voting!

Anyways, if MIDWAY will never release it, ill just have to wait for the PlayStation 2 Emulator, buy the game, and emulate it on my PC. Hope graphics will still look good though.

Thanks guys!

Heh... Well good luck on that. And I hope the emulation for the PS2 doesn't go well for you =/.
And you see? That's one of the reasons you shouldn't expect MKDA for PC. You just exposed yourself by saying that you'll wait for an emulator to be released, so you can copy the game and play it, without paying anything.
So you might as well quit while your still ahead on your, petition =/.

The guys said he WILL buy the god damned game then emulate it.

That's what am gonna do too unless they release it for PC.

Xbox emulation for windows is progressing faster than PS2 coz of the high compatibility between the two systems (microsoft made both)

so I guess it's gonna be XboX. Go emu coders, go!

Hey NoobSaibot,

read the posts carefully before criticising!! As Flash-Crash pointed out, I said I will BUY the orginal game on PlayStation 2, then I will use my emulator to play it on my PC. That is only if Midway will NEVER release it on PC. Im no pirate you know.

Anyways, if Midway is afraid of people downloading Warez versions of the game or piracy, why dont they introduce a sort of security which nobody could hack ?? I mean with todays technology, how come PC game developers have still not found a way to TIGHTLY LOCK their products from being copied or downloaded. They should create a sort of special CD-Security in which the game CD data would be impossible to be put for download, or copied onto another CD.

Come on, they are supposed to be the experts... its their problem if PC versions get copied so easily. So let them release the PC version, on the condition that they are impossible to hack.

And Im sure this is all an advertisement to consoles. MIDWAY might not release it on PC so whoever loves the game has to buy a console.... which will eventually be a marketing plot, where companies like Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo will benefit from one way or another.

Someone in the MK6 forum told me to buy a second-hand GameCube and a second-hand MKDA from GameSpy.... which will cost me just a few bucks. That woudnt be a bad idea either, but might aswell give it a shot with my petition.

MK4 was released for PC (and I own the original copy myself).... so why not MKDA ?

Thanks guys and keep posting your comments here. Thanks for the support Flash-Crash!

dude, whoever told you to get a GameCube was right. in case you didn't know, GameCube's price just dropped to $99.99 which means you can buy it used real cheap, same for used copy of MKDA. if you really love MK than you will shell out the few bucks that'd cost. i love MK so much, i bought XBox just so that i can play the best version of MKDA.

btw, you must be kidding about consoles getting outdated quickly. if that was the case, why do you need to spend money to upgrdare your PC all the time? it's because it is PCs that get outdated quickly and hence you need to upgrade them all the time to play the latest game. that, combined with the piracy problem are the two major cons of PC gaming.

With respect to Raidenwins comment, I still think that consoles are not worth the buy! What can you do with your PlayStation except play with games ?? And what I mean by outdated is that if a console was released yesterday, later on that month, computers will develop 2times stronger the hardware of that console. This will eventually prove that PCs will always be best for graphics and performance than any console around. Besides, computer games will always produce sharper graphics compared to consoles (after all, PCs need high detailed monitors, consoles use ordinary TVs).

And you cannot escape from the fact that practically every home around the world owns a computer.... but not everyone owns a console (me for example).

So facing the fact that every body has a PC at home, releasing MKDA for PC will surely make some money.... maybe not 100% profit due to piracy, but they will still make money.. no doubt.

But like I said, if for once a computer game company invent a whole new security system against software piracy (practically impossible to penetrate), then they wouldnt have to worry about their sales going bad. But I totally DISAGREE with the attitude of not releasing a game on PC just because of piracy. With this attitude, we can say that basically no game developers can release PC games anymore, just because of piracy!

Then where the hell did ID Software's success come from ?? They have been developing nothing but PC games all their life and look where its got them!! Did piracy stop them ?? NO IT DIDNT!

So why should MIDWAY be so much afraid of releasing their finest installment of their MK series ?? Anyways, I must say that you have to be an idiot not to buy the original copy of such a TRUE fighting game. Personally, im being gutted here that I cant continue my collection just because of MIDWAYS idea of keeping it a console game.

Im not going to buy a console for just one game, im not going to waste my money on a console that will soon be outdated by some other console released in the near future !

I hope you people understand where Im coming from. Thanks and keeping positng!

Midway pretty much confirmed it, and it's been such a long time since MKDA's been released, why work on a PC version now? Why waste more time?

flash-crash Wrote:

I dont. I never said I did anyway, so no problem there.

Because they've been done a million times, and they're always so hopeless.

Well, first of all. I don't care if you want to by the game, and decide to play it on an emulator. Your still a pirater, for not paying the full price to BUY the console itself in order for you to play =/.
And by doing so, you are not helping the Sony Compamy in any way to get it's sales up.

people would just sign this to get a free copy on their computer from KaZaa. It sucks that you don't have a PS2 but I doubt midway is about to lose all that money and get into that hole copywrite battle over that for you.

Let me just pipe in real quick...

Midway will not make a PC version. They confirmed that as far back as E3 2002. Piracy is not the reason they gave for not making a PC version, but one could argue it's part of it: they didn't make enough money off of the previous ports of MK to PC for them to justify spending the time/money porting it.

Much as I wouldn't mind seeing a PC port myself (being a PC gamer, for the most part), I understand Midway's position in this regard. All the petitions in the world don't do much good when past experience has shown that there won't be enough sales to justify it. MK:DA is not coming to PC, and I would seriously doubt any future MK would either.

Just my $.02...

First of all, piracy will never stop for one reason: Hackers are always 1 step further than the developers and there is no and won't be such a protection which couldn't be hacked. Even the Game Cube games can be pirated, no mather the mini DVD it use. The other thing. Concole PC. You told that nowdays you did upgrade your PC, and that the consoles are outdated in hardware. Well, graphic is not the main point of the game. Upgrading a pc is a simular thing like buying a console. For example: my Xbox will have games till the end of 2005 or 2006, but your pc with the hardware what you have now won't keep so much. In the end of 2004 you will need to upgrade your PC to play the games with latest graphic. If you wanna play games, then the consoles are much better choice. And i don't belive that you can't collect money for console if you could for upgradeing a pc. I'm not a rich guy but I'm a true MK fan and i collected money for 1 year to bought Xbox only for MK:DA.

Well I must say that this petition MIGHT just be a waste of time. It seems pretty damn obvious that im wasting my time here!

Im sorry my petition was of no help to release a PC version... but it was worth a try. By the way, im not going to buy a console anytime soon. Im still a PC guy who still like to upgrade his PC to top-notch quality. I guess if I need to play MK:DA, I would have to go to my friends house on his PS2.

And I still think that the reason for not releasing a PC version of MK:DA was to make us MK fans buy a console to play it.... which serves as a Marketing Tool to companies such as Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft. And Im sorry NoobSaibot, I cant picture myself as a pirate just because om not buying the console. I dont give a damn about console companies.... I just want to make sure that the MKDA developers get my money for their product... and thats why I will buy the original PS2 version and emulate it!

Thanks for your comments and participation guys. Im sorry for not helping to convince MIDWAY for the PC version release, but I did my best.

Thankyou!

I hate to say it, but that's pretty much impossible, unless you make your own motherboards and processors and whatnot, because, by the time you install a new one of either one, it's already outdated.

hey Terminator,
consoles vs. PC arguments aside, the really sad part here is that your stubborn refusal to get a console proves but one thing: your dislike for consoles is bigger than your supposed "love" for MK. In other words, you are not really an MK fan, because if you were you would have gotten a console to play MKDA. so please, don't go around claiming you are this big MK fan when you are not.

Listen up,

being an big MK fan does not mean that i have to buy a console to play the game. Im just a great fan of the series, simply disappointed that I cant own one on my PC. PC games by far show more sharpness to their graphics. Watching PS2 games and PC games, comparing, you will notice that the PS2 has more grainy graphics.... therefore PC games shine in sharpness... the ability to tweak the games graphical settings, fixing any bugs with patches released on the net.... etc.

Not to mention that NO console around can match the outstanding atmosphere of multiplayer gaming on the internet. PC games involve extremely fun MP gaming, especially with FPS game like Soldier of Fortune 2, Medal of Honor, Counter Strike and more.

Not to mention another fact that consoles are crappy for Strategy games. You can say that its simply impossible to play Strategy games on consles. So much difficult to play that basically no strategy games have been released on consoles. Now compare that to the great fun of playing a game like C&C: Generals on the PC.... and competing against people all around the world. I mean its just my favourite type of gaming of constructing your own base and battling with a strategic mind!

And do consoles provide this kind of gaming ? NO! Consoles sometimes tend to release too much ARCADE games. The things you can do with a PC nowadays..... just beats the hell out of consoles. Consoles are made for nothing but games, and thats the main reason im a PC guy. But dont forget that I sed to own the SNES when I was younger and I didnt have a computer at home.

Now imagine if I buy a console right now just to play MKDA.... what the hell will I do except play MKDA on it ? So you see its not worth the bother. And just because I couldnt be bothered to buy a console, that doesnt make me less of an MK fan, so quit trying to place me into a category of fans in which im not! Im still an MK fan, so much so that I go to play it on my friends PS2 every day, do you beleive that ??

But its simply not worth buying a console at this stage, its just not a wise thing to do when I know that with my PC, I can still make MKDA work. ANd NoobSaibot, I dont care where the money of buying a console goes, all I care is about MIDWAY's product, and if you just keep picturing me as a PIRATE, go ahead. I dont care what you think. All I know is that im buying the original of MKDA, and thats no piracy. So think what you want.

And yes I have given up on the petition, so no need to tell me to quit my "silly petition" Noob! I realised that I can just cant make a difference, except being offended and judged about my character in here! So no use.

Just posting my comments here, NO PETITION ANYMORE! So quit telling me what to do.

Thanks anyway.
Duane Pace.
