More moves for each character
FAR Better throwing system
Better Fatalities (and at 2 per character)
Controls that better promote each style
The removal of impalings in favor of high damage attacks
Far less difficulty performing style combos
Bosses that you fight as difficult characters, not abusive overpowered titans (aka- no more Moloch)
Quick counterattack abilities with the block button in combination with other buttons.
An improved aerial system. (Perhaps using a jump button would add more depth, especially if used in combos)
A training mode that doesn't require nearly impossible moves (Many of Cyrax's juggle to special move combos were far too difficult)
Bring back Smoke in a classic uniform with completely unique moves.

MK6 also needs a community that wants to play to compete instead of ONLY playing just for fun otherwise Mk6 will suffer the same fate of MKDA. MKDA sould have almost a year of life left if anyone ever decided to go to tourneys if anyone would hold 1. maybe the Mk community should start now.

Yes, I agree with that MKL (shit, i agree with you? j/k
Has anyone been to Soul Calibur's web site? Their forums have ungodly amounts of users with more than the 5-15 that are usually on here. This group (mk5.org) is fairly small and very personal. I've meet some really cool people (and Ray woohoo!), but in all reality, I think it would be best for the game and community if the website/forums were hosted by Midway. (though Scott-Howell and the gang have done a wonderfull job)
YES WE NEED TO START NOW!!!!!
(sidenote: does any one remember in the making of MKDA vid when they were having the mk4 road tour; they showed a sign for a strip mall 'Pines of Lombard' with a place called 'Enchanted Castle.' I used to play most of my MK there and I now work roughly 2 blocks from there. YAY!)
i dont feel that midway needs to do anything. all the tourneys these days r held by players not by the company itself. tekken tourneys r not run by namco, SC tourneys r not held by namco, VF4 tourneys r not held by sega, Sf and MVC tourneys r not held by capcom, etc. they r held by the players themselves so there is no reason y MK players cant do the same. first there needs to be people WILLING to travel for tourneys like the players do for EVERY OTHER major fighter then once people r actually willing to travel for comp then we need people to hold the tourneys and it needs to start now. actually, the is a tourney coming up in NOV called E8 in the midwest. maybe i can get them to hold an MKDA tourney but if they do hold 1 and its a small or no turnout then no one will ever even try to hold MK tourneys again ,or at least of a long while, and MK will have lost another chance to be a tourney fighter.

I don't get why you say Midway should have nothing to do with tourneys. Anyways, what is this E8 tourney? Where? Do you want any help in trying to get them to put MKDA in?
I'm going to drop all the stupid BS that we fought about before (cause they were pretty dumb arguments, or weren't even between us). I've had a few big changes in my life recently, and for other reasons I will be 100% willing to travel within reason to try and help promote this game and challange others.

True they may not be held by the company, but at least on SC's site they have tourney dates, locations, finders etc...

Ok, you don't understand how bad I want something like this to happen... I just got a crap load of stuff to do at work right now, but this afternoon I'll make a new thread as this is getting off topic (though for VERY GOOD reasons) and I'll start looking into setting up something even if it's going to be in my apartment!
I'll just tell you now it won't be until mid-late NOVEMBER just so that we can get schedules set up correctly. More to come in the new thread (edit... again)Soon I'm workin on it dammit!

What's the date of E8..I may come if RS is showing along with you guys.
And yes..mk5.org has to mold itself different for the next update of the site. I LOVE this new format, but this site needs to cater to both hardcore players and casual fans. Look at Tekken 4 Zaibatsu.
1. Character Specific Boards for each character.
2. General Strategy Board
3. FAQS section
4. Tournaments Annoucnement/Hype Board
5. Tournament Results Board
6. General Discussion
7. Fan Art
8. Apex - National Ranking system..points are given to players by winning tournaments.
9. North American,South American,Euorpean Match Finder Boards
10. Combo Video/Match Video Library Board
These are things the next version of mk5.org should have.

Well, I figure that if I bitch I need a counter statement or supplement.
As far as buffering goes, I liked how one can buffer commands while in the air with DA. Perhaps take it a step further and allow a dash or SS after that buffer. Possibly buffer while dashing, or durring block - perhaps you can buffer while in block with DA. I don't know, I dont' play this POS. Even buffer from move to move. So i could buffer move A while SSin', execute, buffer move B durring A, then dash and execute move B. Bah, whatever.
Though, I still think branches should be nothing more than cancelled normals; 2d style. Peace and love ya'll.

I've been wanting to say this ever since this thread popped up.
nothing can make MKDA better.
MKDA is a finished game.(unless they plan on releasing an update for it.)
The correct question would be,what would make mortal kombat better?(as in,"what would you like to see in MK6,that was not in MKDA?)
I think this is in the wrong forum.
But,anyway.I think Mortal Kombat is in good hands and I have faith that MK6 will be the best MK yet.

Stay and Cory are both wrong IMO. MKDA does not suck, and it is not finished. I love the game, and I dont think ti sucks. Lacking depth? yes! unfinished? yes! But I still enjoy playing the game more than any fighter out right, and that should be all that matters. However, this does not mean it doesnt need drastic improvement, and I hope the stuff we put in here will help midway realize this.

I have not had the time to read all of your stuff Vers...I'll be busy this weekend and it seems that my computer at home has locked up for some reason.
The reason why I put this thread here is because I almost exclusively reside in the DA forum at this site...just like in the future I will probably be in the 6 forum.
In reference to discussion vers on things that I helped get put in DA.
a couple of things that come to mind....
Nitara's blood suck throw- the mechanic of exchanging life was discussed with Ed. I'm not sure if I am exclusively responsible for this but I mentioned it to Ed. No doubt that Ed coded all this. Ed codes all gameplay. It was really awesome to watch the master at work when I first got here.
Shang Sung soul steal- nitara's throw mechanic led to this move as well. I was so excited when Ed put this move in...I was jumping up and down and running straight to the balance lab to tell the testers.
Sub- Zero's throw- originally belonged to Quan Chi, this did not make sense to me. I mentioned it to Ed and the very next day...Quan Chi and Sub exchanged throws. Ed added the ice block and the particle effect and it became one of my personal favorite moves in tne game. I have roots in snowboarding and skateboarding...so lots of times I will finish rounds by throwing the victim and "grinding" the edge of the arena.
Sub-Zero's cold shoulder- This is a move that I recommenbded to Ed because Sub did not have a slide. I always liked Cage's shadow kick and Night wolf's shadow shoulder. This move gave Sub a much needed aggressive maneuver. At this point I felt thqat Ed trusted my judgement and I was very pleased with the way Sub Turned out...he became the skill character in the game, well balanced but tough to use which is always good. In the hands of a master he can win consistently but he does have weak match ups against skilled players. Ninja Sub is my favorite DA character. For one he just looks kool, two I really felt that I played a large role in making Sub what he is in DA.

Um...I never said mkda sucked. It's the best fighter of all time,IMO.I was trying to be a smartass but apparently it did'nt come across that way, sorry.
My only complaint about the game is not enough fatalities.I thought they did a good job with the fighting engine, but it would have been nice to have more moves and kombos per charachter.I just hope they give themselves enough time to make mk6 a more complete game.EDIT:I almost forgot the one thing that I absolutely hate about mkda;the MUSIC.some of it was o.k.but most of it sucked.the worst is the song that plays with the end credits, every time I hear that I want to put my fist through the speakers.(thank god you can skip it.)

So yeah, shit like Nitara's throw could stay, but make the command more advanced and give it an escape. Since it has a built in effect it's weakness should be that it is a 2 escape. Same thing with Sub-Zero's throw. It's cool, but it should have a more advanced command and should have an escape like all the other throws.
As for the cold shoulder, I love this move, but Its not safe on block. So giving it frame advantage and making it do more damage would be ill, and I like I said earlier, making a special version of the cold shoulder that's extremely hard to do but causes guard stun and does collosal(sp?) damage would be neato. The balance out the move it should go completely vertical, making it uber sidesteppable.
Shang's Tsung's soul steal of course should come back in MKDA. I really don't think there is anything wrong with it. I mean it's unsafe, making it a risk, and gives back a solid amount of health. Maybe a special version of it could cause guard stun. Name suggestions..hmmm..kinda rust today, but maybe the Omega Soul Steal? ehh...dunno.
And yeah, Sub-Zero took lots of skill in MKDA, but I disagree with you when ya say he can win consistently. Sub-Zero is my main character, and Id say im pretty damn good with him, but he has some serious problems vs characters who are simply better than him. Bo Rai Cho,Scorpion,Reptile and Hsu Hao are all considered to be impossible matches for Sub-Zero. here are a few ways you can fix him up.
1. His jabs need to be sped up. Everyone in MK6 should have 8-10 frame jabs. This way everyone will have a safe move. They could be thr worst character, but atleast they can depend on their jabs for priority. Sub's jabs do great damage, so make sure they stay that way.
2. Like all other jabs, 1,2 should cause frame advatange. Dragon: 1,1 should also cause frame advantage.
3. Sub Zero's mid attacks were all great in MKDA, except for the fact that they were all unsafe. Make them frame advantage.
4. Sub should be the most defensive character in MK6. Give him some of the best reversals and a solid character specific movement.
5. Sub-Zero throw game should be respectable.
6. Kori: b+4 should do more than just 8%. That baby should do ATLEAST 20%.
7. give him a tight weapon throw.
This is just a couple of things that would make Sub-Zero better. Don't think im being a fanboy, because ill be more than willign to post up some ideas for other characters too. I just want my favortie character to be able to complete : )

Ray, we've been giving you a lot to ponder. Though, what would YOU like to see implemented in MK6? Any specific gameplay mechanics?

I think just more detail. It was very good in MK:DA but like little things and glitches which they are working on. Pulling out the weapon in thin air. I also thought the select screen was weak, they could spice that up and obviously more stage interaction and fatalities maybe. Also the charactors were a lil blochie like when up close, need more polygons or something....oh well
