That sucks. To each his own I suppose. At least there are a number of important sites participating though beyond this one.

Woah! That's a lot of drama I missed on this thread within a period of 4 days! I wish I could enter, but I want to save up for that Marshall guitar amp, though. sad And besides, I'm more likely to gamble my ass off and get drunk in Vegas than actually compete in Evo 2005.

hahaha, this game at evo?

MKD at evo? lmao. What a waste of time that would be. SSBM should take the spot. In fact, maybe the time people would spend laughing at MKD can be used to find some fine-ass vegas hookers.

I can't even understand why this game is being put in and not UMK3.

EVERY GAME mentioned except this one is worth playing at a high level.

god.

Come on colguile. This would be the greatest thing EVER if MKD was at EVO. SSBM already has the MLG tournament at the same time as EVO so that's why EVO isn't putting it in for consideration.

Just imagine the look on the Japanese faces when they see MKD on the big projector being played. Shit, just imagine my ugly face seeing it there. Dying of laughter would be literal in this case.

They'd think it was just a special effect EVO is putting on but realize it's not stopping. They'd panic and start roundhousing everything in sight thinking an electrical malfunction is going on and the building is burning down. It would be like a huge food fight. Except fighting game nerds all killing each other in the mayhem being displayed on the projector. Chaos everywhere. Fires, cars blowing up, card battles, you name it. I hope like hell it gets in!

Man, would love for these clowns to see just how shitty this game is.

Worldwide it's less than a pube tick.

From what I heard, the EVO organizers wanted Smash in one year. 2003 I think but I could be wrong. A lot of potential competitors complained because it isn't a standard fighting game but more of a subgenre of fighter. Because of all the commotion, Nintendo got word of the event and demanded Smash not be included. It's weird, I know, since there's no reason Nintendo shouldn't want the game to get that kind of exposure but whatever, they've done stranger things before.

Apparently, you all miss the point of getting MKD at Evo.

The whole point is to get the MK development team to realize that they need to fix their fighting engine in all future installments of MK. This is the kind of publicity needed to make serious improvements on the fighting engine for the next MK (and as I understand it, the next MK game may have a completely new fighting engine). And apparently, you people saying "This game looks shitty, it shouldn't be at Evo, etc." is not helping matters any. If this game doesn't make it to Evo, guess what? That means that the NEXT MK game, and subsequent games are going to continue being shitty.

MK:D isn't shitty, In fact I really enjoyed the game heaps. But I aggree the combo system needs fixing. Even basic combos sometimes do not connect, when they should... If this was fixed MK would be unstoppable for Tournament / Online play.

You can see an example in this VIDEO, watch as I try to do a basic popup combo on Ashra to try death trap her, but it misses.

Guess what? All the MKs before MKD sucked too.

The ONLY MK worth playing at a high level is UMK3.

But as menthol said, we should get it in just to get others to laugh at how shitty it is.

As good as it sounds on paper about it opening the eyes of the development team, I really doubt it'll matter. Boon strikes me as a guy who who covers his ears and goes "la la la la la la" if someone tells him GAMEPLAY improvements have to be made. Sure he'll listen to the scrubs who want Sub-Zero to pull out his dick and give the opponent an icey facial for fatality. Then he'll take the praise of morons who give it to him. "Man, Boon REALLY listens to us!! Will he marry me A/S/L/PIC???!". The gameplay addicts on the other hand get that facial I was talking about (lolwtf). All we get is a promise of a combo breaker that's supposed to prevent heavy combos and well, LOL! I honestly doubt Boon even knows what EVO is let alone knowing people actually go to tournaments to play competitively. I imagine he thinks "dude, these people make no sense. they travel to play street fighter when it's online. lolololol online rules".

This point in the game, all those generic awards he's been getting will only make him think MK at a big fighting game tournament makes MK one of the top dogs of fighting games. He'll probably show up with a written down acceptance speech and not even realize the game getting in to the tournament isn't an award. Then when people are laughing at him he'll think he's saying awesome jokes. When people are laughing at the game being played, he'll think he programmed "toasty" in the game and that's why everyone's laughing. Because toasty is funny! The dude's so star struck with himself and so far gone him and Itagaki may aswell go buy Jupiter and live on it.

I wouldn't get your hopes up that a tournament will open his eyes when all he has to do is crap out a game and watch it go platinum.

"The ONLY MK worth playing at a high level is UMK3."

UMK3 is a great game, in fact I own the Arcade Machine. But it's far from the best. UMK3 is unfinished and glitchy as hell. I would say MK3 is a better game at a higher level as it isn't as glitchy. Yeah Yeah...I can read your thoughts about Kabal's hardcore MK3 combo.

if MKD does get accepted in evo2k5, then it will be exposed as the shitfest it really is, and thus will be humiliated in front of the whole fighting game community (not that it's already held in high regards).

but even if boon notices, like others have said, he probably won't care because the copies sold are more important for him than anything else.

and besides, in the slim chance that the developpement team makes an effort at making the next MK a balanced and decent game (it doesn't have to be incredibly deep, it just has to not blow), what are the odds that they actually possess the talent for it?

so unless midway hires competant staff, i think MK will stay crap. i believe they like to throw in ideas that sound "good" on paper, but when it comes to programing those things, they slack off majorely.

With Zucker at the helm, and his rather unrealistic expectations of an MK game out every year, I doubt we will be seeing the quality fighter a lot of people want coming from them. Ever.

Congrats on the award for the most random, pointless insult I've seen in a long time.

Responding to an outdated post, all the way back on the first page, in an outdated thread that hasn't been posted in for 4 days.

As well as focusing on how the post was written, instead of the point that the post was making.

Back on topic, has MK:D got 100 players to go to Evo?

There's really no reason to respond to this, for it practically writes itself, but I can't resist.

First off, I think TMK was more insulting towards Scott than I was towards him. Yet you get on my case? Laughable. Second, I wasn't referring to how his post was written, but rather how he writes in general. I believe in the practice of what one preaches. Third, 17 days isn't really that old. Even so, it's a forum. I had something to say, so I said it. Get the concept? I haven't exactly been around lately. Fourth, Scott's simply asking for fans to unite if they want to see their game at EVO, which would be the first time an MK game has even been considered for tournament play at EVO. If you haven't noticed, MK isn't exactly thought highly of in the tournament scene and EVO is the big dog of fighting game tournaments, so it's a big deal. Whether you agree with it or not is up to you. Finally, I suggest aiming your guns elsewhere next time.

Who was more insulting or not wasn't why I posted. It was because people had already responded to that post, new arguments had been made.

The fact that you posted on such an early post, so late in the thread reminds me of what a lot of n00bs do, only reading the first page of the thread and then posting about it.

skizelli Wrote:

Well that makes the whole point of your post even more random and off-topic, I believe that if people are going to start nay-saying someone's post then it should atleast be because of how his post related to the topic at hand, not how it relates to himself.

skizelli Wrote:

The fact that the thread had moved on from that one post and the same people there had been posting more in the thread says that your post was late and only brought one good thing from it being your self-satisfaction.

Your earlier comment about not being around here lately is standing out right now, telling me this comment is like trying to tell your average cop "when you catch the criminal, you must shout freeze!"

Ever since I've been a member here, I've been part of the 10% that has been saying just what you've said, what made you think otherwise I'm not sure, my last post didn't mention anything about MK:D and EVO until I asked whether MK:D had got 100 people to play, and before that post I said I'm supporting MK:D at EVO so that people can laugh at it and Boon + Co hopefully will realise that MK:D needs a lot of work for it to be respected as a fighting game.

---------------------------------------------

Anyway, back on topic, again, can we get a list in this thread of everyone who's signed up so far?

Are you going to keep whining about my reply? 'Cause honestly, your responses to me are no better than you claim mine to be. Move on already.

On a side note, it's pretty sad that some fansites have to be bribed in order to support the matter at hand. I can understand your reasons for not wanting to support it, but they're obviously not important enough to stand up for if you can be bribed otherwise.

They want a mk fighting game every 2 years and an adventure game every two years. Thats what they mean by an mk game every year. 2 years is enough time to do a good fighting game.
