It's possible.
but MK:A is a tough act to follow.

MKA is probably the best opening movie ever. Especially for a fighting game fan. Deception's was awesome too, but Armageddon's was just sick. I still get chills every time he get's to the line "....And old hatreds......will be reborn" and you hear the chains and Liu's zombie chi. Awesome stuff. And since I hate Jax (always have) and love Shao Kahn, when Jax say "What else you got" to Quan then proccedes to get the back of his neck broken by Shao Kahn's hammer is probably the most satisfying piece of video I've ever seen in any medium.
Since it doesn't have enough of my favorite characters from each side included, I doubt the MK vs DC opening is going to be as good as the previous 2 MK games, but I do think it will be good. If Boon can do nothing else, that SOB can envision awesome opening sequences. Every MK has had good openings.

I agree with LarryL on all points. But maybe the opening movie will include several more characters that haven't been announced yet (unplayables, I mean). I sure hope so.

Shaolin Monks had a pretty badass opening too.
Whether MK vs. DC will top it, one thing's for sure. If Midway can do anything, it's kick ass opening cinematics, so even if it doesn't top MKA, I'm sure it'll still be extremely pleasurable to watch.
The only problem with the MK openings lately is that after watching them, I go, "Screw the game, show me 2 hours of THIS!"

I think it might actually be better then the armagedon one, even though i did love it. But i don't think that it can beat shaolin monks's, that was the best open in mk so far.

I hope it's ten times better than the Armageddon one.....MK:SM and MK:D openings were much better than Armageddon's one...so.

SM did have a good one and everything, But i wasn't counting it.
Nothing will ever beat Stryker punch. Edit: MKDC FMV wishlist - -Dr. Light rapes everyone. -Liu Kang splits Shang down the middle (Kung Lao style), but buy means of super kick. -The Wolfman. -Batman breathes in space. -Joker digs up Heath Ledger's grave, makes amusing marionette out of body. -Green Lantern punches an armless man. -Wolfman Jack. -Sonya transforms back into a woman. -Shao Khan finds pants. -Captain Marvel verbally lambastes everyone. -The Werewolf of Fever Swamp. -Mokap.

Unless Superman punches someone just as randomly.
MKA's FMV wasn't even that great. It was just one colossal cluster**** with every character kicking each others asses and people flying in mid-air... Though I admit that I deeply enjoyed seeing Li Mei getting impaled right at the beginning of the fight. It was like Midway somehow knew of my hatred for the character.
Anyway, MKDA, MKD and MKSM had FMVs that were better. In my opinion.

Uh...honestly the Decepption and Monks openings both topped the MK Armageddon opening with flying colors. I mean it is not that hard to top that bland opening. the cinematography ,plot delivery and graphics in the Mortal Kombat Aramgeddon opening did not even match up to any of the ones that had come befor or for that matter the standards of game cinemtatics (I say that maily to the graphical flaws of the Armageddon opening). it was just one giant pointless Lord of the rings batle scene parody. (no facial animations in a CINEMATIC ! minus the few moments where they would focus on one character.)

It might... MKSM had the best opening IMO, but they could arrange some pretty neat stuff with this.
I would have it go sorta like the opening sequence of Soul Calibur 3, where it show fragments of different fight scenes between MK and DC characters.

Same here. In fact I cheered when Shang broke Liu's neck. IMO, the MKDA intro was the best

Yeah I would defiantly love it if the opening FMVs were just like the graphics that would be nasty
O yeah and im not sure I hope MKvsDCU is very original with the opening FMV not just screwed up and thrown around id just like to see something very suprising when like at the end of MKA's FMV showed a big ass blaze so yeah I hope its exciting just as the others are.

About Me
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yes sir, the check is in the mail."

Jack Burton isn't looking for the MK vs. DC opener to top any of the other intros to MK games, but if it does that would be sweet.
I really liked them all, to be honest. The MKDA intro was a surprise to me, especially when I saw Shang Tsung snap Liu Kang's neck. I did not expect the MK team to go as far as killing their "main protagonist" for a plotline. I thought that was just a genius move on their part in terms of sparking interest and showing the Deadly Alliance to be serious business (although I am a Kang fan...truth be told, his death and zombified resurrection reignited my interest in his character).
The MKD opening was both exciting, stunning, and upsetting for me. I'm a major Raiden fan, and to see him fighting both Quan Chi and Tsung like that got my blood pressure up in nervous excitement. When they beat him, it felt like ol' Jack's Cheerios got pissed in...when he got back up to help fight Onaga, I was relieved. When he sacrificed himself...yeah, I was just pissed. I was doubting he'd be in the game as a character, but when I finally unlocked him, I was delighted...yet surprised at his change in look. I know a lot of Raiden fans didn't like this new, darker Raiden, but I support him no matter what he does. He, Kung Lao, and Kang (somewhat) are the only MK characters in which my loyalty is blind...I freely admit that.
The MKA opening was epic. The fighting was just great. My favorite moments were when Raiden shocked Shinnok despite his confinement by the skeletal hands, Jax getting smashed from behind by Shao Kahn, Shao Kahn getting carried away by Onaga, and Liu Kang appearing from nowhere to fight Shang Tsung. I thought it all was good.
I've found something to like about each movie, and I doubt the opening cinematic for MK vs. DC (should there be one) would be any different. I just hope it looks great, that's really my main concern.
And THAT'S what Jack Burton has to say at this time.
