We all know that if Superman was to appear in an MK spin-off, it's going to be bad He can't seem to ever make a good game.

Not really...just because his own games aren't that good doesn't mean because he's in a fighting game "it'll be bad" if Hulk can face off against Ryu as huge, bulky and silly as he looked in MVC then Supes can work out in an MK crossover....

Even if Boon announces in a few hours that DC is entering the MK universe, I still call anyone who believed this rumor prior to evidence irrational. To constitute any belief as knowledge, the belief must be true AND MUST BE ROOTED IN JUSTIFICATION. All we have is supposed insiders and rumors. But we have to deal with the evidence we have right now.

And as of right now, we have the noob.com hints and old interviews. There's no reason to take anything else seriously. For all we know, Boon could be posting these rumors as viral campaigning.

Anyway, I'm remaining skeptic. I just can't believe Boon would do something that the vast majority of MK fans don't want (I'm going off the posts on the message board, NOT the MKonline poll). Video Games are a market like anything else. If you douche your fanbase, you're going to lose sales.

I can't even believe anyone would want this. They wouldn't even make Bios for all the characters in MKA; do you think they're going to write a developed story for MKvsDC if it does indeed exist?

I have very solid info that mk8 is mk vs dc,this game isnt some crappy wii port its a full on next gen game built for ps3 and 360.

Sorry, I highly doubt this game will be anything far from horrible. Why? Any game that has had 2 movies, millions of fans, been around for over a decade, still a major fighting game franchise, and has had so many games released within the franchise, does NOT... i repeat... does NOT need a stupid crossover featuring it's own bloody, violent characters facing off with a man who runs around in tights and changes his identity by wearing a pair of glasses and a man who lives in a cave with a boy twice as younger than him.

Now don't get me wrong, I like some DC characters and am very much looking forward to the Dark Knight, but if MK was ever to do a crossover, you'd think it'd be with violent characters like their own; such as maybe Wolverine. But c'mon now, Supes? Zombie Liu Kang beating the snot out of a man wearing his underwear on the outside of his clothes?

Ever since MK4, this has gone downhill. MKDA was an interesting was to reinvent the franchise, MKD was a little darker but hardly improved on much, and MKA... well, I just won't go there. And now, after all this time, if THIS is what they bring to the table, then Mortal Kombat needs to die out and soon before they embarrass themselves out of the field.

And don't say I'm not a true fan, because I am, but Midway and Boon and his team have had a lot of second chances from me with this franchise and my patience is getting pretty thin. Every time I tell myself maybe they have learned from they're mistakes, but if this versus game is real and it IS MK8 and not just a crappy Wii exclusive while PS3 and 360 get the real deal MK8, then I see Midway and Boon haven't learned anything and are just regular old sell-outs who'd rather risk they're franchise entirely than to do what the fans want, which is a dark and gritty MK game with MK characters and MK mythos that'll live up to the originals and go far beyond the point we'd ever think of seeing MK go.

Now, I'm holding my final judgement until tomorrow when we hopefully get some news. But if the news is what a lot of people think it will be, then I will be saying goodbye to my days of fatalities.

Well said man, and I agree with you on the "nothing confirmed yet" view.

Just a few things, the problem with a lot of fans in general(especially MK) is that everyone wants something different...that'll never work out and if a fan is going in the attitude of "this game will suck" prior to it coming out then it WILL suck for you as an individual because you're not open to new ideas and suggestions.

MK8 is a fresh start, with fresh starts come new ideas. With new ideas come the unexpected sometimes.

I honestly see no reason why Midway can't do both, since lots of fans don't want this MK vs. DC to happen while others do.

Why not make a wii version MK vs. DC, while have the darker MK game for 360 and PS3? Have both games intertwine storyline wise but have only the DC cast in the Wii version...

On what cyberdog said, we'll see man. I'm for either idea honestly I will have fun with it either way but I don't think the wii version will "suck" should it definitely come out for the wii.

It is true that Boon can't please everyone. The producer of the Mega Man X series once remarked (and I'm paraphrasing) that basing a project on the average opinion leads to an average product. That is a time-tested truth. But when it comes to fundamental elements (violence? atmosphere?), the standard changes a little. You couldn't make a new installment to any franchise without carrying over the essential attributes.

I don't think Boon should ever make a game strictly off what the fanbase wants, because many of the problems in the past two MKs came from fan input. If it were up to me, MK8 would be about Smoke's experiences in the Peace Corps during the eight years he was absent. Never going to happen.

I remain skeptical about it all until I see undeniable evidence pointing to "MK Vs. DC." If that's what the game turns out to be, so be it and congratulations to whoever said it was going to be that.

I think it's a terrible decision if it is true however. Mortal Kombat versus DC Comics? It just doesn't add up. However if they can make a decent game that retains the feel of MK (violent, very violent) and has Supergirl on the DC side...I may be more receptive.

I just think it's a bad idea all around.

I am just going to hold off on commenting until either MK vs. DC is confirmed, or MK8 is confirmed. No point in wasting words when we aren't even sure what to expect quite yet. Though, my love for MK has died down after MKA came out, and I was really hoping the new MK would be the fresh start I have been hoping for. I wouldn't mind if the MK vs. DC was a Wii exclusive game, and MK8 was for 360 and PS3, as I like DC comics, and I have a 360 and a Wii. I guess time will tell, only a matter of hours now...

As for the obvious things, I think boon and midway will keep those in some version (if not the wii version say the MK vs. DC is true) and for the most part MK has never failed in that darkness, violence department.

I think Boon needs to do what he did originally, go back to basics, not worry about the "fans" TOO much because as you said, the irony is that the fans bitched to hell about what they wanted after MKD and got it and still weren't pleased with it...

Personally, as a high level competitive MK player that plays online most of the reasons( if not all) of a lot of people on here or MKA haters posted ridiculous reasons for not liking it. Someones bio, OMG...someones costume OMG...or the fact that they have no clue gameplay wise on WHY MKA was indeed better then MKD by a lot. 50/50 cut down, parries, wake up that worked and balanced out the gameplay factor....but these are just terms that a lot of fans are simply ignorant to and don't seem to understand.

But that's a whole other issue, granted the previous titles did have some problems but they weren't "nearly as bad" as some fans make them out to be.

I think this fresh start is a good thing despite whether or not DC is involved or not. I think a lot of people against it as some even in this thread have admitted just hate DC or the JL and are apparently ignorant to the fact of how iconic characters in the DC universe *superman* cough *batman8 cough are to the world of fictional characters.

It's like I said once before, if SF can survive and crossover with Marvel characters then MK can with DC characters...

The irony of both is that more people wanted DC vs. Marvel game and MK vs. SF game and we already got one opposite with a possibility of the other happening too.

As already stated before Ed wanted this game to be dark and gritty. If there are DC characters i am 100% sure there will be blood and fatalities - i've seen comic books with Batman having his back split in two on some monsters knee, and believe me seeing batman screaming in pain and pissing out blood was fucking awsome.

As for the gore side of things - if their isn't gore in this new game would it really be true to the MK series? In mortal kombat gore is part of the gameplay and so are fatalities. So by saying "all people should care about is gameplay" i believe is a load o bollocks. Blood and Fatalities ARE part of the Mortal Kombat Gameplay - it defines the game differently to other fighting games, without it it will become another one of these bullcrap fighting games.

All i can say is:

MKvsDC? Coolbeans as long as you can rip supermans heart out and rip captain americas head off! Otherwise midway can kiss the shit on my shoe.

Though i doubt that would happen, I highly doubt Boon would work on or even be excited about an MK title that doesn't have the gore in i've seen many interviews and videos of Boon stating how immensly proud they are with the fatalities and the blood. Also just remember

On the gameplay issue, well it's very important. If the game doesn't play well, then who cares about anything else after it right?

I just think too many MK fans emphasize on the "trivial" things first such as Fatalities, someones costume, someones bio not being long enough...I mean these things are great if they're added and should please the fans but come on..

It's not everything and definitely far from the #1 subject of importance.

And the blood and gore isn't apart of "the actual gameplay" for one, that's a bonus and nothing more then eyecandy. Secondly, if you played MKA and MKD among other MK's you have the option to turn off blood and fatalities.....

That's NOT gameplay, that's eyecandy and the satisfaction of finishing your opponent after the fight(which is the actual gameplay)

By gameplay, I'm referring to moves, specials, combos etc that happen during the fights in MK. 50/50's, parries, wake up, tech rolling, weapons etc that's gameplay.

It's an MK game so it will have blood, darkness etc.

Now, I do agree with you on the DC point.

Just because it'll have DC characters doesn't mean the game "can't have blood" I think that's a made up, ignorant rule by some fans.

Eh, I'd buy it. I hope this isn't true though. I am 100% Sure that if this is a crossover it will be bloody and brutal, cuz that's what MK is. You guys are also ignoring the fact that Batman/Superman could be the only DC characters in the game, kinda like the guests characters in Soul Calibur.

First of all if this is true then this is NOT MK8! They would not be continuing the story, it would just be a vs game. So to call it MK8 is a lie. There has to be two games coming out, or this is Ed boon's nasty little joke. I believe the latter. Afterall, does this not sound like something he would do?
