1. Gameplay IS an aspect of this game and should be duly discussed. Our frame of reference are the past two games, which ran on the SAME engine.

From my understanding (I don't play that much online), a 50/50 move is when you have two attacks from the same position, say one medium, one low, wherein the opposing player has to guess which you will do, thus the 50/50 rule. It's an example of broken gameplay in MKD, apparently. Again, I'm not sure, I'm sure I'll be corrected.

Although, as one who is trying hard not to be a n00b, can I just get a flash card here, have their been any GOOD MK fighting games? In the opinion of those who are in the "MKDA/D/A sucks/will suck" camp, I mean. I'm just curious if this is a call to go back to a height they once acheived or more just comparisions to other games.

Okay here's why MKA is gonna be awsome. The new parry system allows you to stop dial-a-combos meaning no more complaing about that. Parries also allow you to stop infinites, meaning that that's taken care of. Boon is checking every character to see if they work. 60+ characters being worked on is gonna be great. CAC looks flawless. The fatality system is the only thing I can't back up. Konquest has better graphics and better system. Air combos means a faster game.

never knew MKDA had a reversal system. Only time will tell if the parry system is flawed. It looks okay now imo. A little slow but still good.

It didn't. At least it wasn't universal. Only a few characters had the Reversals. Some had Impales, some had Power ups etc.

Sonya, Shang, Hsu Hao and Raiden had Reversals along with a few others. You simply pushed a button and if your opponent hit you in that time, their limb was caught and you got to combo them.

it doesnt let the foe who got combo broke to QR and get free attacks to the foe that broke the combo.

the bad thing about this.

UMK3 is generally considered to be the high point in that regard, it can still be played competitively. The games preceding it were mediocre though I guess back in the early days of the 2D fighters it never made much of a difference. MKT was glitch-ridden and MK4 was very shallow compared to the other fighting games of that day.

MKDA had two characters with an infinite and three characters who were absolutely dominant due to superior mix-ups. MKD expanded these horizons with having more infinites than characters, tons of free throws, guaranteed hits, etc. Measures implemented that could have prevented some (though) not all abuse were so sloppy that they caused problems of their own, such as sidestepping, reversing (in MKDA) or breaking (in MKD). Seeing as MKA will be based off the MKDA/D gameplay mechanics, this doesn't inspire a lot of hope.
