Excellent Start & "Follow a long" if you have the time. XD84 is currently one of our finest as far as MK story-line goes. Ask questions in there and everything about MK's storyline progressions.

Use MK1 - 2 - UMK3 - 4 - & MK5
(deadly alliance) or MKD. Those are the "major" leaps in MK history really. I mean, there's the other ones, for other purposes...Like, MKMythologies was a leap, as far as MK introducing the "RpG//story telling" element into the game, or Shaolin Monks for introducing Co-op...but that's something else.
But yea, start in that link, and you'll have a full plate.
