I find the MK cast really drab and dull. Been there, done that. I understand the thinking was the sort of classic cast, but just personally I hate it. Subby and Scorp I dig of course but the rest is just kind of blah.
I am not a comic book person by any means, but I seem to be more excited about that side of things than the MK cast. I'm just curious if you all are generally disappointed in the MK side of things.

it lacks reptile

a little. I could have done without Baraka, since a T rating can't do the character justice.
No.
And its all subjective I guess, because others can say the same for Scorpion and Sub-Zero and not for the rest of the cast.
I'm happy, but sure, the obvious and notorious and scandalous omissions of Mileena, Johnny Cage, etc. do suck....a lot.
As for the latest new characters introduced in MKDA and MKD, hopefully we will see more of them in the future, because some of them have more potential then some of the classics. Most rock.

I like Smoke.
Anyway, we all knew the game was going to have a boring "all-stars" roster.

Its the same boring characters we get every game, big WHOOP!.
I would have prefered a few surprise characters that nobody would have expected, but likely would have been appreciated.
For example, Smoke, Sareena, Kai, Kenshi, Kabal, Li Mei, Havik, etc.
Notable omissions include Reptile, Goro, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, and Mileena, who I'd consider to be "all stars".
Notably questionable inclusions include Kano and, kinda, Liu Kang.

I think for the most part it is a decent roster on the MK side... there are some glaring ommissions like Mileena and Goro... but most of these characters are classic. I personally am glad we are not overladened with filler characters like Darrius, HsuHao, Jarek etc etc etc
Hopefully there will be some more characters a dlc

Pissed off that Mileena has been left out but pleased that Sonya made it and was given so much attention.

Gee whiz! Why can't we all just be equally disappointed?
Except for people upset about Mileena. Those people are just silly!

I like the originals as I am one who started playing MK with the original. So to say you are dissapointed, you must be someone who started with MK3 or one of the later titles. The overwhelming Sub-Zero and Scorpion fans will always be happy, and thats the majority of MK fans wright there, but the other originals have quite the fanbase as well.
I think sometimes the Kano, Raiden, Cage, Sonya, Liu Kang, Shang Tsung, Kung Lao, Baraka, Jax, and Mileena fans...and even some of the MK3 debuters such as Cyrax, NightWolf, Sindel, and Sektor...they get overshadowed by all of the typical Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, and Noob Saibot fans. People tend to like the "ninja" look, and back in the day they were all pallet swapped so really you just picked your favorite color and that was your favorite character.
People need to learn that they can't have all their favorite characters represented in every MK game, and that they should be satisfied with having one of their favorite characters being included. I happen to like all MK characters besides sum of the MK:DA fighters and the ones introduced in MK:D and MK:A. The originality in each character fades when you build up to a 50 + roster.
Honestly if the roster was decided by the fans, I would not like the outcome at all. If you put it up to a poll vote, it would almost always come out like this:
Sub-Zero
Scorpion
Reptile
Smoke
Noob-Saibot
These characters would be in every game, which leaves a lot of other favorites left out, that have quite the fanbase as well. So just appreciate each character for what they are, because it could always be worse.

That's a bold statement. I started playing MK with the original and I hate most of those characters now.
Anyway, I can't say I was disappointed with the cast...since, with the exception of Kano, I was expecting pretty much everyone in it. Doesn't mean I'm happy about them though. At this point, the only characters of the roster I still really like are Kitana, Sub-Zero, Raiden, and Shao Kahn.
Everyone else I'm either indifferent or flat out despise.

Honestly, as much as I love Sareena and would gladly take her over any of the other choices...except for maybe Kitana...I'm kind of glad she isn't in. If Sareena had been included, I guarantee she'd have become the lightning rod of hate for everyone who wanted Johnny Cage, Mileena, Reptile, Goro and all the other sacred cow characters who weren't inlcuded.

Well I started with MK2 and I have plenty of favorites from the old cast, but I still like some characters from MK3, 4, and DA more than any of them except maybe Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
Having favorites isn't JUST about "I loved this guy when I was a kid", it's also about who you connect to NOW. Who has the best story, the best design, the best moves NOW.
The characters I've held onto and still enjoy from the olden days are the ones who've continued to be interesting or cool. Meanwhile, look at Baraka. He was interesting as a novelty in MK2, but he's never grown past being a snarling idiot henchman, so why be a Baraka fan?

IMO beyond Kenshi and Quan Chi...not many of the new fighters introduced in MK4-MK:A were that original or great. Not saying there is no other fighters worth keeping, but those 2 stick out as the best of the 3D era so far...Wheras if you asked me about the great characters that stick out in the 2D era, almost every character from MK1-MK3 could hold their own argument as a good character. Keep in mind I said ALMOST. lol

Eh, I'm used to the cast now. Sure I was kinda iffy on Kano and Jax, but after seeing gameplay I'm ready to accept them. Definatly would have wanted Cage, Mileena and Kung Lao (3rd favorite) but who knows (DLC?)
And yes, I'm one of the Scorpion/Sub-Zero fans.

See, I feel like MK4 and DA had very good casts and the problem is just that Midway, when they create a new character, sometimes they're idiots and don't FOLLOW UP on that character and keep using them in cool ways. I like Fujin, Reiko, Tanya, Li Mei, Havik, and Mavado a great deal. They all have interesting designs and backstories and all they need to leap ahead of the likes of Johnny Cage, Kano, and Baraka is to just keep being used and doing interesting things.

SCORPION IS KICK ASS!!!!!!

Didn't need kano, would've preffered reptile, but, you know. Besides that I'm happy with every thing. They should have made 12 on each side. That way we can have Kung Lao. We would also have poison ivy because she's super hot.

Actually you aren't too far off. My perspective: I played MK1, 2, and 3 in the arcades sparingly. To be honest I found MK3 impossible to play, it seemed like the computer guessed your moves and countered too easily, and found the combos hard.
Missed MK4 completely and really didn't keep up with the series.
I bought DA way after it was released and that kind of got me back into the series, then MKSM and MKD (still after released, I was kind of behind). I really loved the gameplay in deception, it's definately my favorite, and hence I really loved some of the newer characters like Hotaru , Ashrah and Keshi. I think I'm the only one that likes hotaru =)
MKA was the first MK game I pre-ordered. It was okay. I found it to be a little less brutal than MKD. I liked the cast obviously but the characters were way watered down for my taste.
But also, the point can be made that all of these classic characters have really been over-done. The movies and 8 games...perhapsI'm just getting a little tired of seeing Liu Kang and company. Yet, Sub zero never seems to get old.
So I understand both sides, I am just hoping for a little freshness.

Yeah, the Red Clone of Zatoichi and the megalomaniacal magical skinhead was reaaaaal original. Please...
Though I did find the newbies in MKDA and MKD overly more pleasing that the rehearsed trash that now litters MK games. Oh well, never expect anything.

Hotaru was the only character I liked that debuted in Deception actually.

Good lord dude, "skinhead"? You're basing your ENTIRE opinion of Quan Chi on the fact that he's bald? The guy is like the most important, manipulative villain in the MK universe.
