When has Kabal ever came to mind while watching T.V., or talking about something that has nothing to do with video games? Everywhere I go, when there's a woman with really long hair walking down the street, someone says "Wow, she's like Sindel or something."
Seriously, though, Kabal is no icon.

He is not iconic, of course you would think that because he is probably you're favorite character, but that does not make him iconic what so ever.

My first was Cyrax.
Second, Sindel. Third, Sheeva. Forth, Sheeva. Fith, Sheeva. Sixth, Sub-Zero. Seventh, Sindel. Eigth, Stryker. Ninth, Sheeva. Tenth... hell, it was Sheeva!
Sheeva was my favorite character in MK3. I did not play with Kabal until I saw his fatality, in which he removes his mask. I found it funny, and thought I'd give him a chance. Sure, the speed move was fun, but stomping on people's stomachs was much better. I returned to Sheeva.
The only thing I can say about Kabal is that he was hard to beat.

And you're wrong actually, i like Kabal he is a great character. But I'm pretty sure everyone who is into MK remembers/knows Kabal.
And why are you so fixated on thinking that just because someone can "remember" him makes him iconic? it doesn't. He is a good character, but in a game like this, someone like Kung Lao or Johnny Cage deserves a slot more then Kabal does. You're immaturity amuses me.

No, because he just wasn't any fun.
Neither were Nightwolf, Stryker, Sektor, and Kano. They all sucked in that game, IMO.
Alright, here's this. Quan Chi is my favorite MK character. I adore him. Love him. If I was gay, I'd fuck him. He was chosen to represent MK4. His big ass head is on the side of the arcade. Sure, he's popular, but he's no icon. Shang Tsung beat him to the punch a long time ago.

As taken from dictionary.com, and icon is a sign or representation that stands for its object by virtue of a resemblance or analogy to it.
I'm going to make a list of the MK characters with an icon status.
Scorpion (who represents MK)
Sub-Zero
Liu Kang
Cage
Sonya
Shang Tsung
Shao Kahn
Sindel
Kung Lao
Raiden
Noob Saibot
I want you to try to figure out why they're icons.

Ah, nice list, but as much as i love Noob, i think he might have to be swapped out of there for Reptile, i mean being the first secret character and the fan base he has is pretty iconic imo.

those r the real icons
if he's such an icon, why was he the only character not included in the movie MK: Annihilation? which was the MK3 story to a tee. MK was ashamed of him thats why. LoL even Rain was in the movie!
he wasn't in MK4 either. Even when they released MK4: Gold, they had time to think "gee, what good characters can we add to this game that we missed the first time?" and whattaya know, Kabal didnt make the 2nd cut either.
just my opinion here so dont flame up, but to me, Kabal is at the top of the lame character list along with Bo'raiho, Kobra, Dairou, Kira, and Li mei

I'm going to make a list of the MK characters with an icon status.
Scorpion (who represents MK)
Sub-Zero
Liu Kang
Cage
Sonya
Shang Tsung
Shao Kahn
Sindel
Kung Lao
Raiden
Noob Saibot
I want you to try to figure out why they're icons.

Ah, nice list, but as much as i love Noob, i think he might have to be swapped out of there for Reptile, i mean being the first secret character and the fan base he has is pretty iconic imo.
all of those are icons. i see you like noob though. see, you added your fav. i think icons are based on appearance, style, how different they are from the rest and will these be characters people will remember forever. oh, you didn't add Jax or kitana or Kano or baracka. do you think cyrax can be an icon. i mean yellow ninja who blew up thw world and ejected a green net. iconic moves
