If by the same alt you you're referring to the fact that his garments are blue and resemble that of a ninja, then... okay.

Other than that, I would say it's drastically different.

Mask:the same
Armband:same
Cloths:the same diffrent pattern

The mask still has segments near the mouth area, but the engraving on the side is very much new. As for the head, well, I guess I'll concede that, but the black hood is common to all ninjas, and his head symmetry shouldn't change given that he's the same character from the previous games. His armband from MKDA was cylindrical, probably leather. This MKvsDC model has a flat metal band with an engraved design unique to this game. As for the clothes themselves, he has a padded leather undershirt with frost stitching along his vestment.

Did you expect them to get rid of the V-shaped vestment?

I really feel like Sub-Zero could look a lot better. The design is not bad but come on! the renders we got for MK:DA were more kickass than this one! The Scorpion render was impressive but I think it has gone downhill from there with the renders.

Wrong, somewhat. The colors appear gold here, as where they appear greyish on this render.

I cant believe nobody has noticed his waist yet. Look at it again, his body size isn't right, his waist is 3Xs longer than normal. Why cant they get the design right? Nobodys upper body is that long. Its like they used the Goro Skeleton body to build the polygon sub-zero model off of.

Wait, I just had thought! what if the Sub-Zero from the trailer was Classic Sub-Zero and he's a hidden character! This render is pretty cool.

Heheh, yeah... I think these are my first few posts to mk5.org in like two years or so. But I've been around, I still read the news posts and sulk around #mortalkombat from time to time. I'll probably be popping into the MKvDC forums every now and then, especially as we get more information and pics/vids.

Agreed....it's nothing like MK:DA's costume, there's more detail within his gi in this game, mask is different, eyes are different(at least in this render) and overall looks different then his MK:SM or MK:DA look.

Speaking of his scar,didn't he "lose it" in the early versions of MK4? And on the first available renders for MKD?

I'm starting to think that this disappearing scar bullshit is MKTeam's way of subtly trolling their fanbase with every game they release.

As for the somewhat plain design,keep in mind that this is not the yet actual "reinventan the franchise" title. They are simply bringing the most iconic characters together. The key word being "iconic". If Subs was wearing his pimped-out Shredder armor or some crazy shit like his MKD alt,non-MK fans wouldn't even know who the hell this is. The only thing Joe Average will be thinking when he buys this is "MK = NINJAS OLOLO". So they gave him ninjas. This is,after all,the most iconic (and also fucking outdated as hell) look for Sub,Scorp and co.

I don't think the scar is a big deal, personally I think every render without the scar some fans bitch about so Midway has to remember to include the scar. Trivial? yes, but this is MK fanbase we're talking about here...where they complain about the most absurd things at times...

Damn wont we ever get rid of him. So far everyone but superman looks skrawny. If you compare the Scorpion and subzero MKDC renders to their earlier ones its ovious their smaller now.

Because neither Subs nor Scorp are supposed to be goddamned bodybuilders. They are mean,lean,assassinating machines. I'm actually glad they toned down the bulging muscles.
