they gave Armageddon a 9.0. strange. i thought it would at least get a 9.0 but then again i havent played it and an 8.5 is still good.

Well you have to look at the huge amount of content that was in MKA compared to this game regardless of how shitty the fighting system was in that game (MKA) which is why that game got high marks. I cant wait to see the X-Play review for MK VS DCU because they hated MKA, but gave MK Vs DCU an E3 Award, that says something.

For all it's faults, Armageddon had a lot of content.
Stuff that probably extends the replay value of the game a lot more than anything MKvsDC has.

As hardcore MK fans, our own personal rating will be different than that of OXM. As you can tell in their 2 marks under "BAD". They dislike 22 characters, and the fewer modes and content. So obviously they would rate Armageddon higher due to it having around 60 characters and loads of different modes etc.

It all depends on what is important to you. If you want so-so gameplay and story, then play Armageddon. If you want actual gameplay and story depth buy MK vs DC. Plus, MK vs DC has done something no other game has, which is to have a decent game that inludes DC characters in it.

Just ask yourself:

Do you buy and play MK for the Chess Kombat, Puzzle Kombat, Kart Kombat etc. or do you buy MK games for the actual fighting that made us all MK fans to begin with?

Why do they complain about there being "only" 22 characters and if they rated Armageddon that high then I have to say these guys are... Weird.
Also it's kind of interesting to note they like the graphics

8.5 is an absolutely fantastic score.

Considering OXM gave the following fighters the following scores:

VF5 9/10
Soul Cal 4 7/10
DOA 4 9/10

Now considering a lot of people (including myself)were really worried about MK vs DC Universe, the fact that OXM had scored this as one of the best fighting games this year, thats great news. 8.5 is great, especially for a fighter, means its damn solid :) im getting excited now, a lot more reviews should start rolling in soon.

I'm guessing most reviews for this game will be around 8.5, and if you are an MK fan that might as well be a 9.5.

Nice! MKA got a 9? Gamespot gave it a 7.0. This is good though, gives some hope to the hopeless I would assume.

The day MK beats Soul Calibur in terms of gameplay is the day the world explodes. And since McCain wasn't elected, that day won't come for a few more years.

It all depends on your expectations really and SC4 didn't meet mine, as far as MK Vs DCU, I'm expecting something passable and as long as they can pull that off,I think ill be a lot happier with the MK game.

Actually, I was made a fan by the visual style, feel, and fighting system that were all dropped like a hot potato after John Tobias left. So what is there left to be a fan of? Oh, yeah, Batman.

A 7/10 for Soul Calibur 4 was kinda generous if you ask me.
Problem with the SC series is, the gameplay never changes, the roster never changes (outside of pointless cameos), even the storyline moves at a snail's pace. If you already own 2 or 3, It's literally like buying the same game more than once.
I believe the technical term for that is "ripoff".
