MKA - Blaze wins, resulting in cataclysm and the merging of realms. On a higher level, Worlds Collide. The first two universes to merge are MK and DC. Tensions rise, battles are fought. "Resolution" comes to fruition after the defeat of two sub bosses and a final boss. The former, made up of Blaze and a DC big baddy. The One Being takes the role of final boss. Pieces of the puzzle finally begin to make sense. MK9 comes out in 2010. Whether or not The One Being wins, this entry will either be another Vs game against a different universe or a reboot of the MK franchise, taking place in their own mythology once again.

Sounds decent.
I don't think it's the story that's bugging the whiners, it's that the DC characters are "out of place"
If They'd seen Superman: Doomsday or Batman Begins they'd see that DC fits MK like a glove.

It's obvious that you haven't read the graphic novel where the Joker brutally murders a child, so I'll just let you research it yourself.

Ah, the classic "straw man" logical fallacy. The funny thing is though the DC Universe has realms, gods, ninjas, portals, and martial arts. I think more MK fans should actually read up and understand what they're so angry against.
People need to let go of those preconcieved notions that the actual comic book DC Universe is exactly like the cartoons. It simply isn't the case.

Errr... So now Batman is just like Raiden...
Th story got modified over the years to make it darker. Batman was simply a dude that loved toys and had fascinations with bats and was always in Gotham. But like I said, over the years that got modified to make it seem darker.
Unlike MK, which has its base story rooted far beyond earth.

You obviously know absolutley nothing about DC, and you're mad at Ed Boon for actually tryin' something new instead of making a stale rehash, so I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you.

Wow, why bother trying to change your mind. It's pointless.

Actually, I think Batman started out dark. He did use guns at the beginning and killed enemies from time to time. Then he got all kiddyfied and now we're back to making him dark again. Though he still doesn't kill anymore.Errr... So now Batman is just like Raiden...

Exactly! I made that point somewhere earlier. DC fits more with SF,DOA, VF.. but not MK. Stop trying to see why they fit people... Because they simply don't!

Batman's not dark? Batman was some kid who liked playing with toys and bats?
When he was 10 years old his parents were shot to death right in front of him. As he grew, becoming an expert martial artist, he became Batman, who used the gun that killed his parents to kill other criminals. Don't tell me this has been modified over time, because that's just what he was like in Detective Comics #27 and onward, until around the mid-1950's and 60's, where he was kiddified. If you actually picked up a comic book off the shelf today, you'd see a Batman who's been driven to near insanity by all the trauma he's endured over his days. In many respects, Batman at it's core is darker than anything any Mortal Kombat game has had to offer. Just because there isn't blood and guts all over the place doesn't mean it's not dark in tone.
I suggest "The Killing Joke" where The Joker shoots a woman in the back, is implied to have raped her and taken photographs of her naked battered body, and tried to drive her father insane by projecting the photographs in front of him.

Parents, criminals, guns... GIMME ME A BREAK DUDE!
We're talking about fighting for the survival of your world. Not just avenging one's parents... Very DARK indeed! BOOHOO!
This is no more than marketing stunt by Midway to get more fans to buy the game. It is not a creative concept which MK franchise is built on.
