Ultimate Ryu:

It would make more sense if they made a Virtua fighter/Tekken/Street fighter/Soul Calibur vs Mortal kombat! Now DC? Damn you blaze!

Fighting for the survival of your world is a stock scenario and is only as dark as the majority of the characters. The Carebears fought for their world once. Land Before Time has that scenario every other freaking movie (I babysit the neighbors kids some times, so don't say it). Are you going to tell me that they're hardcore, too?

This is not an argument. There's nothing to argue about.

MK world... DC world... Draw similarities... NONE!!! DC guys are crime stoppers period! And we all know what MK is about.

I'm not against DC, I just think it is insulting to the fans and even the franchise to mix it up with DC. Especially with the hype they generated with the whole Unreal Engine talk.

You know, the DC cast went up against their fair share of psychopaths, mass murderers and world destroyers. So what if the heroes don't kill? It's not like the MK cast is unlike anything they've ever went up against before.

I don't deny DC comics has all the aforementioned. But they're like err... Milky way galaxy stuff...

And if Heroes don't kill, I wonder what would happen to fatalities.

.............

On a side note about DC, Iron Man's trailer just came on during Blue Jay's game. It looks damn good!

There obviously won't be any spine ripping, but they could still have deadly power finishers. And even if they are not deadly they could still be neat looking. Just take a look at some finishers from Marvel Nemesis.

Watch that video and at the end Spidey said... "OUCH.. you're gonna feel that in the morning..."

That's exactly what I'm talking about. DC is child's play when you try to compare it to MK. It's just too cheesy!

KI would have fitted the bill. NOT DC!

Spidey isn't DC buddy.

Watch Batman cradle the body of a young boy with a bullet in his spine, that's DC.

Yeah, Spidey isn't DC. And besides, it's Spider-Man, he wisecracks. Don't see what would be so terrible about it if a cocky character at the end of the match would crack a joke. That's something even Johnny Cage would do.

I know Spidey is not DC but the fact is Marvel and DC are all in the same genre (almost anyway). They've crossed over some many times I've lost count. That's more of a reason why MK shouldn't be part of it. Keep it real and not dilute it with fancy stuff.

Midway already started to dilute the MK games starting with Deception. Or do you call those mini games an integral part of the gameplay? And then came Armageddon with its car racer, kreate-a-fighter and kreate-a-fatality.

I'm sure it happened more than once. There was that big event in the 90's I believe, and then there was that gigantic Justice League/Avengers cross-over.

I don't remember anything like that. I think there was a Teen Titan Crossover, but am not totally sure, I just read about it on Wikipedia, and thought it might be some wikishit.

Still, never heard of a JL/Avengers crossover

I know they started selling it out from MKA but not having an half decent storyline and I thought they'd address that with this release. I think this just a BS stop gap to keep fans interested while they keep working on the REAL MK8.

You could wikisearch the JLA/Avengers cross-over as well. Here's a official artwork.

And now that you mention the Teen Titans cross-over, I'm remembering a lot of other cross-overs from that period. Though most of them were just one-shots. There was Hulk Vs. Batman, 2 issues of Superman Vs. Spiderman I think, Teen Titans Vs. X-Men. Some years later we got Batman Vs. Captain America, 2 issues of Batman Vs. Spider-Man, 2 issues Batman Vs. Punisher, Batman Vs. Daredevil, and probably a lot more I don't remember right now. Most of those cross-overs weren't of cosmic proportions though.

I just don't like the idea of taking pre-existing characters in their own genre as whole and mixing it with the lore of MK. I do not think these two franchises fit each other. While there are similarities, you can connect many ideas together. Almost any story targeted to older teens to adults involve murders, fighting, explosions, suspense, etc.

A simple reason why I think DC doesn't fit with Marvel, the game is expected to have a T rating. That means DC is changing the way MK has worked to fit it. Wack.

They better not take out what makes MK, MK! Fatalities, Blood, Gore, Raw Evil with some water down BS.

Watering down is actually what this franchise needs IMO. Sure, there should be still blood and Fatalities, but try to keep it realistic. No 10 gallons of blood flying with every punch, people getting torn appart as if they are made out of cotton candy.

The MK series needs realistic bruality, not cartoony.
