Seems like all that has improved in the throw game are the new animations. The mechanics behind the throw are useless, just like in MKDA, and eliminate the possibilities of mixups into throws on whiffs, or something similar, strategy-wise.
You know, that is stupid.

I understand that their major concerns are looking for bugs and trying to recreate glitches but you'd think that during these testing sessions at least someone would say to themselves, "You know, there's something wrong with these throws." |
Not to go off on a tangent, but I bet some of the testers were like the typical non-fighting game playing Americans. (Im American myself so I can say this) Many a time have I heard Americans cry because "throws are cheap." Man that never gets past me that throws are somehow cheap since they can't be blocked. Jesus, if people cant even understand how the game mechanic works and why its there, its a sad sad day. Its like people are so dumb that they dont know they can break the throw, they don't know they can attack smart so that they arent open for throws, and they dont know they can duck so they cant be thrown. I mean some logic here would simply go a long way.
At least 2D players don't cry when they're thrown... I haven't heard of that one before. If I ever do, that would be a sad sad day.
Anyways, back on topic. Does anyone think Scorpions Mugai Ryu and Ashrah's Kryss has the same movelist? I've seen the exact same strokes from both of 'em.
this is a little off topic but what do u think the top 5 were?
| rubin56555 Wrote: Hey Versatile... I was just wondering since everyone keeps talking about Tae Kwon Do and Pi Gua on here.... what are the five strongest stances from DA in your opinion? I would put those two in there, along with quan's swords, drunken fist, and maybe snake or mantis... i know that mantis leaves you open for retaliation if you are blocked, but i like how it has a wide array of high and low attacks that keep opponents guessing. this is a little off topic but what do u think the top 5 were? |
In order, but the last 2 are strongly debateable.
1. Pi Gua
2. Drunken Fist
3. Crab
4. Iron Club
5. Tae Kwon Do

Fuck no! Why?
.....It will change. If their is ONE gameplay improvement to be made that is effortless, it is to make throws unblockable.
It can be done. It shall be done.
Anyway, I have a question: What about the block stun properties. Did you guys see anything interesting regarding the stun time?
Is their actual movement off hits? Your character moving a certain distance depending on degree of attack?
Any type of glitchy frame advantage? Being able to cancel out of a block with a dash or other input command?

This toss (b,f+2). What's that about? I only knew about the ground slam and the dive kick. Is b,f+2 still stopped by the clone? What's his best option out of telemovement stance of the 3? Any other options? Lastly, is the dive kick safe or punishable on block? As for the pound? The Toss? Fill me in. I might consider learning Ermac. |
Ermac's best stance is the one where his arms are curled up close to his chest, I just can't remember what it was called. That style offered more juggles and pokes and worked well with the TK moves. The dive kick was safe from physical retaliation from basic moves or that unnecessary "uppercut" that every one has because they can't reach him. But a well placed mid range special move did the trick on me after it was blocked, so no its not safe on block if someone with at least the IQ of a carrot is playing against an Ermac player.
The toss leaves him open just like Kenshi's. The ground pound was great, but not against Sub-Zero, he'll just freez you while your floating. You can basically keep most opponents guessing wich one is comming and if they choose to attack while you're floating you can crack 'em with the kick or if the scared to move use the pound. I hope that helps.
Take care.

No he did not have the ice shaker in the version I played, who knows what other moves he has at this point besides the moves we have already seen on video. But with the ice-clone the shaker would be unnecessary in my opinion. Take care.

| *X*BloodyEyes Wrote: I'm sory to bust in like this without reading everything, but I just wanna ask you guys something, wtf are those 3+B, 4 or whatever you guys wrote in the first page? thanks |
Tha's just move notation. Like f,f+1 is a move. forward, forward+the attack button #1.
So like, a string or juggle would look like 3,2,b+4, u/f+3, f,f+4. It makes the explanation of moves shorter and more efficient than if you were to just write it all out, word for word.
Is that kind of what you were asking for? 0_o
And, yeah, this whole throw thing is kinda weak. Kinda? Well, bleh, it's hella weak. I mean wtf? Just give us overheads and normals. Then we can go back to d/b+3+blk+4. If you're going to molest the concept of ranges, then why the fuck even put them in there?
thanks

| -NIGHTWOLF- Wrote: Thanks for the info so far mastermalone. What do you mean by Tomahawk mix-ups. Can you also give some details on the Tomahawks style. Like how it hadles. Is it fast, strong etc ? Thanks |
The Tomahawks reminded me somewhat of Nitara's weapon in MKDA but with more variety and the Tomahawks were so much faster than Nitara's weapons. They took of considerable damage as well and he seemed to get off juggles for free if you screwed up a block durring the high/low mix up. I hope that helps.
Take care
I know this is a tier thread, but I am thinking that perhaps with a little MKDA strategy flava people can understand tiers better, and their wont be as many arguments when MKD comes around. So if anybody want strats with any character just hit me up.
Tomahawks = faster kama? wowzas! we'll see, but then again with TKD why would ya wanna use anything else? 3 and b+3 baby. It's all ya need to fuck some serious shit up. However, since TKD:3 on hit doesnt really knock that far back, NW fans should be hoping his shoulder tackle hits mid so instead of mixing b+3 up with 3 u can mix it up with the tackle and land a death trap hit...yikes.
Sub-Zero's throw leads into a launcher? That's pretty ill, but a few questions on that.
1. Does the throw do more damage than Shoto:1,2,b+2, Sub's best launcher?
2. Does it come out quicker?
3. Like Shoto:1,2,b+2 on hit, does it allow you do another launcher hit to give u more damage? Case in point..throw,b+2,cs,1,2,cs?
4. How safe is the throw on block?
| Bezou Wrote: You guys have put a lot of thought and effort into this. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to read the complete tier come December-ish. A lot of styles we haven't seen yet make it difficult to work out now. |
Sup Bezou..I thought you didn't believe in tiers? Or was it that you didn't think MKDA sucked total ass? I think it was one of them. Anyway I doubt the tier list will be coming out in December anyway. I think October-November will be feeling the game out, getting to know the set ups and whats good and whats not. What will be banned in tournaments and whats fine, etc. Around December I'll make a topic for Tier feedback. Basically all the players talking about who they think is good. Around Jan or so the formulating would begin I guess. I don't know if it should be like the top 5 best players at that point in time or the best player (wins/losses wise) with each character in the game who decides the final list. For the MKDA one it was MKL,Konqrr and myself...whateva..we'll see.
