What about Ermac?
With regards to bundling all hi-level knowledge, I'm not sure if this forum or even this site is apt for it, because I'm sure we'll have:
(1) one line post-fests à la "scorpian rules omg roflol i always use spear!!11"
(2) the debate whether or not tier lists exist
(3) lots of crap info fanboys will nonetheless heftily defend
These three things will distract the more serious people from compiling useful info. I learnt a lot from the MKDA hi level thread, but it was a big, messy pile to read through.
Just my 0,02c.
I probably won't be online with MKD before the end of the year. I first need to catch up my lost time (we only get the game in November) and then I'm going to practise at my ease :). Oh and it seems like NTSC and PAL zone will be able to compete against each other all the time. Sweetness.
Cheers,

Satyagraha..im not too sure if youre talking shit toward me...im just being honest about the build i played on...it seemed slower than MKDA...some decent playing and kombo stuff is being hosted by Konqrr..get the link from him.. NIghtwolfs lighting move had any range and didnt seem blockable..E3 mostly had scrubs or people who never played mk well.
And about Ermac...he seemed pretty strong...one of his moves in a certain stance poped you back and up..for a slam to juggle to whatever...plus he has a air move that can be turned 2 ways...either you can do a ground pound like Kai had in mk4...or make yourself do the dive kick like kung lao...it really makes your oppenent wonder whats coming...
im here to help and give info..take it or fuck off

Thanks for the info _JRF_. Can you please give some more details on Nightwolf. Like ...
If he has his projectile shield ?
What his Tomahawks style is like ?
Thanks

Oh yeah, another question on Nightwolf perhaps. What do the arrows do? They get stuck in the victim, but don't seem to cause any continuous damage or slowdown. So what do they do?

But, yeah, I'm not talking shit, dude. You're actually giving us applicable info. Anyone who knows what the fuck they're talking about is good in my book, so no worries. smile

Did you by chance get to see or use Nightwolf's lightning move? Was it blockable? Did it have a certain range?

I was at E3 as well and one of the developers was using him, I beleive at that time the lightening bolt was unblockable and could hit you anywhere on the screen. If that hasn't changed, when you are playing against NightWolf you'd better keep moving because it was hard to see it comming at times as it comes out fast!
He was a bitch to fight against and also prepare for the Tomahawk mix-ups. I did put up a good fight with Ermac though, he has some fast pokes and one of his pokes is a launcher which made for some decent TK juggles. I even beat a couple of the developers with Ermac as he is a tricky character. Don't worry about Sub-Zero, Paolo Garcia rocked with him and he was breaking me down to my components with a nasty-ass juggle! He did however commend me on how fast I learned to use Ermac and how well I played against him. He made it a point to challenge me if I was winning too much grin.
Ed boon joked around with me and said "Wow! It looks like we need to tone that Ermac down, he looks too powerful!"
Take care.

Baraka was in the game, at least the version I played in the Midway showroom. I'm not sure about the Microsoft demo as their version was quite buggy. Baraka seemed ok not too speacial but then again he wasn't complete.
Take care

Well that ermac mix up seems to be stopped by Sub's clone. With the clone out Ermac cannot do the dive, but just the ground pound, making Sub somewhat safer.

yeah they have that posted in a gamespot video I believe, lemme check.....yeah
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/mortalkombatdeception/media.html?gcst=mk_m81104history.asx
gameplay footage 13, he gets hit with it 1st then when nightwolf tries it again Subby gets him with it quick.
Sub-Zero seems to be an anti-nightwolf character, those matches should be very interesting.

Ermac should be ill. Everybody is gonna be like Kenshi who? Then again, does Ermac have the toss? If he does, Kenshi play is going to be at an all time low. He was a Ermac filler anyway. Never understood why people liked him so much.

He has the toss, at the show it was performed by pressing F,B, 2. I tried using my nasty Kenshi TK juggle combo at E3 but now after a TK slam he could no longer perfom a standing 3 in Tai Chi style to keep the juggle going or any other move for that matter which really hurts his effective-ness sad. So you may be correct about Kenshi taking a back seat to Ermac.
Kenshi may wind up being one of those charactes that the pros use if they want a challenge, or to prove themselves like Dan or Sean players from StreetFighter.
Take care.

Oh no way man. I don't think Kenshi is going to be THAT BAD. Im just saying Ermac looks likes going to be a much better character. I believe they will both be mid tier though. This toss (b,f+2). What's that about? I only knew about the ground slam and the dive kick. Is b,f+2 still stopped by the clone? What's his best option out of telemovement stance of the 3? Any other options? Lastly, is the dive kick safe or punishable on block? As for the pound? The Toss? Fill me in. I might consider learning Ermac.

I don't want a bigger movelist Boon. I want a reason to use more than
10% of the ones you've given me. Fix MK with Move Properties.

I wonder if thats a sign of just Kenshi getting owned by the MK Staff or the fact that they don't want those types of special move juggles to exist.
I agree with the above post, I think Ashrah is gonna be good. She seems really fast and she has the fireball coming down for mixup (assuming its a high) and if she can hit low at the same time, might be an unblockable. Her throw also bounces the person up.
Edit: According to timsmk who tried the latest MK Build (on another thread), throws are now blockable and can be ducked. So its only useful when uhh.. your opponent is not blocking, your opponent is not crouching, your opponent is not attacking soo... its good for people that stand in one place.

Think of tiers as a ladder. The higher up on the ladder a character is, the "better" that character performs at mid to high level of play. So, you have top tier, mid tier and low tier characters. Top being the "better" characters, while low tiers are the shit characters.
Tier placement comes down to how efficient a character is and how many usable/abusable tools they have to work with. Usually top tier characters have many tools they can exploit and abuse with little cosequence or risk involved. Low tiers lack these tools. They are generaly unsafe characters that can be taken advantage of due to their lack of adequete tools. Anywho...

...So let me get this straight... Throws are blockable and if by some chance you are able to pull one off they can be broken and the damage from the throw will still be inflicted even though it was broken?
That is stupid.

Yup. Tried it myself, throw grabs are blockable and duckable.
