I would like to say I played both games at E3 and I would choose to play MKD. kof 3d was only 70% done and it had some things it needed to sort out as well. Some times it was hard to block and it was very crappy when you cornered your enemy against the wall and could weak punch or kick them to death. MK was a bit more solid every game has it's problems but MK had more to offer. It's just my opionion. But bottom line is MK got best fighting game not kof.

I have a real hard time with this "you can't compare it" shit. Uh, exactly why not? I thought the point of a comparison was to "compare" two unlike things, most notably those which have an arbitrary similarity. MK is a fighter, Tekken is a fighter, SC is a fighter, VF, GG, SF, yada yada yada. So just WTF is the problem? You can't compare them because the concepts are different? You can't compare because they're different games? Sorry, doesn't work for me.

I've come to the realization that MK will probably never be a decent fighter. It will be a good game, but not a fighter. I will gladly eat my words if I'm proved wrong, however.

Mortal Kombats gameplay has improved over time. They are doing the best they can. No game could be the same as another in gameplay. If you think its not going to be a decent fighter then dont buy it. Mortal Kombat is the only game i play, i dont know whats all this gameplay talk is about. I just care about it being fun. I dont care how depth the fighting is.

I Love the MK series so much that I want to see it be the best it can be. I think we all can agree that the fight system has some big problems though and needs some major work.

All I know is Midway reads this Forum and if we don't talk about what isn't working than how can the game get better.

When we use Tekken as an example of game play I personally am not saying that MK should use the same system. All I want is the game to flow more like other 3D fighters.

1- Smother between moves (other than speeding up how fast fighters perform moves)

2- If a special move is blocked don't give the blocking fighter 5 seconds to counter.

3- Get back to the "Enter the Dragon" feel of the original 2 MK games (the game at the time was the closest thing to playing a kung fu film).

buterbals113085 is right in many casses. The only this holding MK back from being the best game on the market in the poor fight system curently used.

I didn't say KOF was best at the show all I was saying they are basically entering the 3D fighting arena for the first time (other that the FF gane in PS that sucked) and they are going to have a very solid product in the end to compete with VF and Tekken. With MK I see a poor fight system with a lot of other things.

One last point, the KOF system came in the night before from Japan and almost didn't make the show and they are still very solid.

the fight system has never been that great in Mortal Kombat... ever. Thats not what draws people to the game. Hell, the fight systems are great in tekken or DOA, but the story lines are complete shit... ive played DOA3 like 50 times through and still have no idea what the fucc is going on.

that said, MKDA's fight system was boring and very novice... i gave them the benefit of the doubt being that it was a brand new system (much like when NBA Live changed its system in, i believe, 99). They need to get this right, and I think they will. The fact that visually, it almost looks like a complete game is something to really look forward to... I can only hope that they will continue to make it better and better.

At the same time, the Krypt was suppose to be great last game, and they said they it was going to be great the same time prior to release as now, and we ended up gettin koffins filled with frisbees and tshirts.

I love the MK team.
I hate Midway.

34_thatruth_34 makes a great point. Even the first MK game fight system wasn't that great for the time.

Maybe it is time Midway focuses on this problem and dosn't just add a run button and call it a change.

The reason I like Mortal Kombat is because of its fantasy theme.I mean the fighters are either ninjas, sorcerers, vampires, reptiles, gods, robots or humans.Unlike other fighters were practicly everyone is human.I like MK because of the ability to kill my opponent. In SC2 you could stab somebody in the head and not a single drop of blood would come out.MK has the best story and mythology in a fighting game, in my opinion. It so fun to play.No matter how many counters, throws, combos, ect. other fighting games have, they don't have the diversity and creativity MK has. This is the reason MK is my favorite fighting series EVER.

Geez I haven't been here for a while, but here it goes:

I was extremely disappointed with MK:DA, this feels nothing like an MK game. It's like a totally different fighting game with MK characters slapped into it. And MKD is going to be the same crap MKDA was. Alot of MK fans just dont want to admit that games like Tekken and Soul Caliber have more depth. When they make MK7 I hope they take out the fighting engine that MKDA and MKD uses, because it's just not doing it.

I am glad though, that MKD has alot more extra features, because the replay value of MKDA was horrible, once you got everything from the Krypt and beat the game with everyone, there was nothing else to do except play conquest again? or beat the computer 50 more times?

And where's the E3 coverage on MATII? I'm like 500x more excited about MATII and than MKD

I enjoy the simple MK fighting engines.

What this means is that I or you will be able to go online, enter a random select tournament and no matter which fighter you are given, you will be competitive.

You love Sub-Zero but you drew Tanya who you hate but one by one you beat down your opponents by luring them into traps, using combo-breakers at precisely the right moment, step and uppercut effectively, good mix of combo attacks and special moves and making good use of juggles.

Suddenly you love Tanya, you are the champ and can't wait to play with her on arcade and learn more about her.

This will never be realistically achieveable on the more complex games, especially VF.

Mortal Kombat does have the best story.

I personally hate the fact that in the past fighters have fought so similarly.

To me this is lack of imagination.

One more point about MKD. WHY ARE FIGHTERS USING THE SAME SPECIAL MOVES WITH DIFFERENT COLORS? THIS MUST BE CHANGED. THIS IS THE STUPIDEST THING. GET SOME IMAGINATION MIDWAY.

Anyone who looks for the rich and complex gameplay of the MK series has never played it.

It doesn't have any. Never has. Never will.

That ain't what people want. If you like that, go play Tekken or Soul Calibur. I'll be playing Mortal Kombat.

Why?

Because it's out of this world.

there's just one thing I don't understand.. everybody keeps saying that it's still until october yadayada.. but do you realy think they're gonna rebuild there entire fighting engine?? Not a chance I'd say.. I would have liked it otherwise though.. but the game still looks good (except for the many flaws that are still in the game (the wall in Konquest that always gets in the way,..)

I think they have no chance to change the system, but at least give each character unique special moves.

Unique special moves?

I can recall from KOF, which you like to compare MK with, that almost every character has a fireball of some sort, an uppercut or somesort and a kick move, and more often than not it is the same button configuration... down forward+punch, forward down foward+punch, and down back+kick respectivly.

I played KOF first in 96, I can still use the same moves for 80% characters in 2001. Your argument has flaws.

Well then you and I are from two different schools of fighting games. The only thing solid about kof 3d was the shit it was pumping out. If was going to talk about a solid game by snk it would be kof 2003. But your tring to compare the feel of a game your custom to. You like the way Tekken feels and like the action feel of VF? I like all the VF's they are all smooth and great to play. But if all games had the same feel and play it would be BORING. MK has it's style and other games have there's. And yes you may not have said kof should have been best game. But you talked about it like you put some time into playing it. And felt like it should get some credit. Maybe you could be a little mad there was no demo of Tekken 5 to play. But come on MKD worst fighter of E3? Thats just asking for people to attack you. I have always been a street fighter fan, as well as MK fan. I will own and play any and all fighting games that come out. I just will not set by and let people bash fighting games and give off the wrong impression.

Oh and thanks for the last bit of info about kof game just making it in. Give credit where it was due. SNK booth rocked as well. Samurai Showdown sweetness.

Good news for you ReturnToKombat... Arcade Treasures II will be in stores (which contains MK1 and MK2), right around the time that MK:D will be released, so since your so disappointed in MK:D's gameplay, I suggest you buy it.

Majority rules... MK:DA did well last time, there gonna work on improvin that kind of gameplay, get ova it, and move on.
