Anything not to acknowledge it was crucial to a past game for this game.

I think it could go either way right now. I doubt boon will say much more
about the story and more about the new gameplay.besides I think the if anything IS revealed the next trailer will tell us.

I think in this game they could use it as a reason for the merge they can say like Shang Tsung took it over and now all the realms are crashing together or something like that.
