love shinnok in mkms, and hated him in mk4. They made him weak.
I love the whole turn into a demon thing. I think he should have that ability. Love to see him and noob siabot duke it out.

Shinnok is an ok Character to me, but theres not really anything left for me to see of him. His fate is repetative. He gets power hungry, gets beaten and gets sent back to the Netheream as I see it. So he's back one last time. I do wonder what plans he has under his sleeve to get supreme power over the realms. But I think he will be defeated for good. But by who is another question. He's already fought Raiden and Lui Kang so, those two are out in my book. Maybe by Fujin since he's the new guardian of Earthrealm. Or Quan Chi (which I doubt since Quan chi will probably have his hands full with Scorpion, Sareena, or Shang Tsung...funny how most of his enemies names begin with "S"). Maybe even Kai since he hasnt gotten much spotlight or now that I think about it...any really..

For Shinnok, being a fallen Elder God, he can't truly die. I imagine he will get killed in Armageddon, and (if Noob Saibot dies) these things could happen:
A.) Shinnok kills Noob Saibot for betrayal.
B.) Shinnok kills Noob Saibot and takes control of his army.
C.) Shinnok and Noob Saibot form an alliance, and strengthen their army, to rebuild themselves for next gen MK.
D.) Shinnok tries to destroy Noob Saibot, but gets killed by Noob himself.
Either way, I can sense something big for our loveable Elder God.

but thats the thing with shinnok. He broke the rules with the gods and has nothing else left and is vengeful. I would like to see him again. Maybe if Noob saibot becomes ruler of the Neitherealm, he'll go to war against him. Or possibly, Shinnok will try to kill the elder gods and Raiden with something he could find. Not to mention, what he learned from the Neitherealm too.
Shinnok looks almost like a child drew him, his head does anyway.
I do like the guy, and the concept that he is a fallen elder god, i wouldnt like him to actualy die, but i think he should be beaten and banished to the netherealm again just for old times sake. Something about him being sat in there and saying "Not again" somewhat amuses me.

Shinnok in one of the most powerful and impressive in the MK cast, he is pretty tragic and every now and then ironical. He is best defined by his lust for power and his perseverance to obtain this power.
He has a big number of option in MKA, but I think only a few are really probable.
#1 The confrontation with Raiden may not be an original, but it is a pretty interesting plotline and an awesome battle, a godly duel. However such a fight will most certainly kill one of them and my money is on Raiden, so this is not my most preferred option because I would like to see Shinnok survive the Armageddon.
#2 A fight with Quan Chi is also a reasonable option, a battle for the amulet,Shinnok probably thinks Quan Chi still has it, would truly be one of the greatest battles in MK History. However yet again Shinnok is going to loose such a fight in my opinion.
#3 Shao Khan or Onaga might also be an interesting targets, Shinnok might want start his rule from Outworld and these past and present rulers of the realm might be and excellent starting point. A fight with Sindel and Kitana for Edenia isn’t that original, already been done and not that relevant. Onaga might also be a target due to the amulet, but I'm don't think Shinnok knows it is in his possesion.
#4 After defeating Blaze, he succeeds to enslave the mighty energies that siphoned out of the great warrior. His new granted power makes him confront the Elder Gods that had banished him all that time ago. Shinnok’s strength overcame the Elder Gods and was now leading him on a crash course with the One Being himself.
Shinnok has a 50-50 chance to survive, but if he is to die he’s going to go out with a bang and if he is to survive he will certainly play a pretty important role in the Armageddon. His desire for power will lead him to great deeds or an impressive end.

I geniunely like Shinnok. Despite him being the God of Sucking Out Loud(c)in MK4,you have to agree that you can't get much more badass than a fallen Elder God. I mean,as far as sheer intimidation factor goes, gods > maniacal overlords. Too bad the best he could do was pull off a shitty Shang Tsung impression. -_- He's a walking graveyard of wasted potential.
The way MKA is looking right now,I not worried about Shinnok one bit. Both of his costumes are teh sex,he has magnificent specials,he has his freaking amulet staff (instant win)... As far as his future is concerned, though,I don't know what to think. Unfortunately,he doesn't have that much of a fanbase, but come on;he's a god,for god's sake. He's simply too powerful to just get socked in the face and die like a chump while trying to run up the goddamn pyramid. The only plausible causes of his death I can think of at the moment are:
a) Being killed by another god (i.e. Raiden). I'll get to that later.
b) Attempting to absorb the power of Blaze and phailing.
c) If the One Being plot twist is not forgotten, there's the possibility of Shinnok trying (and subsequently failing) to merge with it to become the King of All Cosmos or something (KATAMARI DAMASHIIIIIII~). XDD
I'm most curious about his motivation, though. At the moment,he has several immediate objectives:
a) Reclaim his amulet from Onaga. The Dragon King is the last registered owner of the amulet, but honestly,I'm not so sure he still has it after the events of Deception. For all we know,Shinnok might still be thinking that Quan has it. Then again,he is a god... In any case, without the amulet, there's no way for him to leave Netherrealm,so that objective will probably be accomplished through the use of his minions. The thing is,there aren't any minions left with Shinnok,though... The asskicking he received in MK4 turned out to be such a massive one that even the ever-loyal Noob assumed his master is dead and moved on... Quan turned out to be a backstabbing sonuvabitch... Hell, even the sisters of the Brotherhood (Kia,Jataaka,Sareena and Ashrah) are all gone (though technically they were the subordinates of Quan Chi,they're still denizens of Netherrealm)... I'm seriously at a loss as to how the hell is the Lord of the Netherrealm going to get out of this one.
Maybe,with the help of Havik..?
Myess, that's a definite possibility... Especially considering the fact that they are seen together in one of the cutscenes in Konquest (refer to Havik's Trading Kard).
In any case, the fact that Shinnok has his amulet staff is a pretty solid testament to the fact that he somehow managed to get ahold of his beloved bling after all, successfully screwing over both Quan and Onaga. Good for him. =)
b) Get the hell out of Netherrealm and take over something. Preferably Earthrealm. Blaze's power will surely come in handy for such a feat...
c) Continue what he didn't finish in MK4,that being the complete elimination of Elder Gods as punishment for casting him into the bowels of hell.
Now,that's not all,as there are also secondary objectives:
a) Find that rat bastard Quan Chi and beat the shit out of him. I assume that Quan's ending in MK4 is at least partially canon. The credit for actually defeating Shinnok went to Liu,as demonstrated by the 4 (four, coun'em) medallions at his tomb, each one corresponding to a victory in Mortal Kombat. However,Quan somehow managed to get ahold of the real amulet, severely weakening the fallen Elder God. I assume that this was the cause of his defeat at the hands of Liu,so Shinnok definitely has a bone to pick with the sneaky sorcerer.
b) Make Dark Raiden join him. Judging by the fact that one of the highlights of the battle royale shown in the trailer is the fight between Raiden and Shinnok,I'd say their conflict will be one of the most important ones in Armageddon.
It's actually extremely ironic that by succumbing to his fury,Raiden turned into the thing he fought against for generations - a fallen god, tained by evil. I wold imagine that seeing his long-time adversary in such a state would make Shinnok triumphant and,in a way, proud of Raiden. He would immediately try to convert Raiden to his cause, but from what I've understood from Raiden's bios in MKD,his mission is still the protection of Earthrealm, even if he's ready to defend it by any means necessary. I doubt he'll agree to Shinnok's proposition, but then again, his judgement is kinda clouded at the moment. Who knows what kind of perverse logic he might pull out of his ass... In that case, the only one left to oppose the two deities is Fujin. MKA will be Fujin's Day Out.
I'm putting big hopes on the young god, and,I imagine,so does every denizen of Earthrealm. =) It's a big responsibility for our newfound defender of the realm, but I sincerely hope he'll be up to the task. After all,I expect him to permanently replace Raiden in future installments.
c) There's a major conflict waiting to happen between Noob and Shinnok. Netherrealm is the only thing Shinnok has left,so the idea of some wannabe wraith trying to become the lord of that realm is not going to sit well with the rightful ruler.

Okay, I was told it was time to discuss the next character so, here we go...
Sareena
Sareena first appeared in MK: Mythologies as a Demon from the Netherealm who served as one of Quan Chi's personal assassins alongside her partners Kia and Jataaka. They were sent to stop the original Sub-Zero before he reached Quan Chi's chamber, but he defeated each of them...only sparing Sareena's life.
Later, as Sub-Zero fought Quan Chi, Sareena suddenly appeared and helped him defeat the sorcerer. When asked why she helped, she asked Sub-Zero to take her with him when he left the Netherealm...claiming she'd waited an eternity to escape. Before Sub-Zero could respond, Sareena was suddenly shot in the back with a bolt of energy by Shinnok. She collapsed into an enraged Sub-Zero's arms and appeared to die.
It was revealled in MK: Tournament Edition that Sareena actually wasn't killed by the attack...rather her human form was destroyed. Her essence was then banished to the 5th Plane of the Netherealm as punishment for her betrayal where she would suffer for many years.
She finally found a way to escape when she discovered the portal Quan Chi & Scorpion used in MK:DA. She was transported to Outworld where she would later find a way to regain her human form without Quan Chi's magic by absorbing the energy of the realm.
It is believed she eventually met up with the current Sub-Zero who would offer her sanctuary with the Lin Kuei in return for helping his brother. She's supposedly accepted his offer and is hiding out on Earth at the Lin Kuei temple. Her ending also suggests that there is risk in befriending a Demon from the Netherealm.
_____________________________
Shiiiiit.....what can't I say about Sareena? I've always liked her since Mythologies. Intrigued by what her deal was and the suggested feelings she and Sub-Zero may have shared. I was looking forward to getting a follow-up or closure on her in MK4, but was denied. And sadly it seemed she joined the ranks of forgotten side characters. So naturally I was thrilled to see her appear in MK:TE and finally get the overdue follow-up. And her appearance in MK:TE opened the door for future appearances....which unfortunately we didn't get until now finally in Armageddon.
Sareena has finally made her long overdue "debut" with a lot of shite on her plate story-wise. For starters, there's the apparent risk she represents to Sub-Zero. Then there's Ashrah, a Demon Huntress and former Quan Chi assassin. Speaking of which, Quan Chi is also back and I doubt he's forgiven or forgotten she betrayed him. And of course, the original Sub-Zero...the man she may have liked...is now Noob Saibot and taking over the Netherealm.
There's even more...but I'll keep this simply to what I think can be fit into Armagedon.
While I was happy to see Sareena's return in MK:TE I was disappointed by the implication in her ending that she was a risk to Sub-Zero in some way. My concern being the horrifically predictable and wasteful possibility that this risk meant she was going to betray Sub-Zero. Not only predictable and wasteful...redundant, since Frost has already betrayed him. I could go on...but I digress....
This apparent risk Sareena represents can actually be used for a much more interesting story. What if Sareena is a risk to Sub-Zero, but she doesn't want to be or mean to be? What if she genuinely does want to help Sub-Zero but she's still a danger to him or his allies? What if it's something she can't help or control? Or maybe she isn't even aware of it? Whether it's Demonic instincts that she can't control that send her into violent beserker rages...or the possibility that she's a succubus...or maybe something else entirely.
This will provide her with an interesting inner conflict: earning the trust of Sub-Zero and his allies. She would have to prove that he can count on her despite this risk she represents to him.
Another factor that I think will come into play in Armageddon is her connection with Ashrah. Since they share similar backgrounds and involved with some of the same characters, I think it's a safe bet they'll run into each other. First question that must be asked: do they already know each other?
According to Ashrah's bios, after she turned on Quan Chi he sent her sisters to kill her. Was Sareena among these sisters? However, according to her bios, Ashrah killed all the assassins Quan Chi sent, including her sisters. If Sareena was sent, how did she survive? Did Ashrah spare her life? Did Sareena simply let Ashrah go? Was Ashrah turning against Quan Chi one of the things that led to Sareena turning against him or vice versa?
Now supposed they don't know each other. As evidenced by her interaction with Ermac, Ashrah seems to have a tendency to be a little overzealous with her quest to destroy evil. Suppose Sareena really does just want to help...will Ashrah believe or even listen to her? Could lead to an interesting fight...
Whether they already know each other or not...or they fight or not...I think once Ashrah realizes Sareena also betrayed Quan Chi and wanted to escape the Netherealm, they'll become allies. Ashrah will see a reflection in Sareena and I imagine...along with maybe Sub-Zero...will be a factor that tries to keep Sareena on the good side. Because I believe a large part of Sareena's story in Armageddon will be the question of who's side she's on. Brought on mainly by...
Noob Saibot has emerged as the central figure in the Netherealm sub-plot and I think Sareena should play a crucial role in this drama. While Sareena may have had feelings for the original Sub-Zero, she hated the Netherealm and the Brotherhood of the Shadow. So when she discovers that he's become Noob Saibot, a dutiful soldier of the Brotherhood and ruler of the Netherealm...she'll be less-than pleased.
I think this'll be the major issue Sareena will have to face in Armagedon. Part of her drawn to the man she loved and to rule...while another part of her knows he's not the man she loved anymore and she hates the Netherealm. Sub-Zero and maybe Ashrah trying to keep her on their side...or maybe if they don't trust her, she'll be more tempted to side with Noob. I think if the MK team plays their cards right, Sareena will be the character to watch in this situation.
As previously implied...and pressed upon in numerous other posts...I'm hoping Sareena remains on Sub-Zero's side and doesn't betray him. Less predictable and less redundant...but more importantly, I believe will serve in the long run. Staying with Sub-Zero will put her in immediate conflict with Noob's forces...most likely Frost whom I think will join Noob. Then we'll get a nice little fight between these two which I think provides with a bit of irony...that Sub-Zero's pupil turned out to be bad news, yet this Demon chick he barely knows...who's a danger to him anyway...ended up helping him.
I'd like it if she played a part in Noob's destruction. I imagine Sub-Zero and/or Scorpion will be the ones to make the kill shot, but I'd like it if Sareena was involved...if even a small way. I'd also like it if she got a shot in at Quan Chi. Obviously, Scorpion will most likely be the one to put him down...but again, since Sareena has a lage grudge against Quan Chi of her own, I'd like if she got a shot in.
That's what I think Sareena's story will revolve around mainly in Armageddon, but I think it's worth mentioning other potential connections she has with other characters. Like Drahmin for instance. After betraying Quan Chi, Sareena was banished to 5th Plane of the Netherealm as punishment. Maybe Drahmin was one of her torturers? There's also Shinnok, since he was also her master and he was the one that "killed" and banished her. Sektor, since she's an ally of Sub-Zero. Any other of Sub-Zero's enemies for that matter, I suppose. And finally Reiko, who was originally supposed to provide the follow-up/closure on Sareena in MK4.
Worth noting...although these connections probably won't be addressed. Whether it can't be fit in or the characters will be involved with other things.
Sareena should definitely return in the next gen games. Since this is technically her debut, it'd be stupid and a waste to throw her away after one game. Some may say once the Noob Saibot situation is over, she'll have nothing to do...which is not true at all. There's a lot more to Sareena than just Noob Saibot and Sub-Zero.
Going back to my ideas about her Demonic instincts and how she has trouble controlling them...in the next gen we can see her trying to control herself. Trying to maintain the trust of her allies. Maybe seeking a way to become truly human. Purify herself or just regain her soul....whatever you want to call it, she doesn't want to be a Demon anymore.
Which would create the immediate question of how would she accomplish that and what would she have to do? Helping the good guys fight evil...thus getting on the gods' good side...could be a start. Perhaps Ashrah can point her in the direction of the Kriss, since I doubt she'll be needing it much longer. But if she failed to get the Kriss, what would be her other options? Suppose a future villain tries to tempt her into joining his/her side by offering to make her human?
Sareena's quest to become human can be used to explore her past. Why doesn't she want to be a Demon anymore? Was she born a Demon or was she turned into one a long time ago? Did something happen to her that made her want to change? If any relevent survivors from this generation are around, they could provide problems with her...as could new characters introduced.
Well, I think I've made my point...
So to sum up:
Many of us have waited a long time for Sareena and I really hope the MK team makes good use of her. She has a lot of potential and can easily be a star and not just some filler or supporting character to someone else. Hopefully the MK team won't waste her with something lame or too predictable.
Sareena first appeared in MK: Mythologies as a Demon from the Netherealm who served as one of Quan Chi's personal assassins alongside her partners Kia and Jataaka.

While I didn't never know who Sareena was until I learned of MKM:SZ's existence. (Which was long after I played MK4) I think she's got quite a bit of potential in her... and I do hope that she'll return next-gen, after this is her first appearance in a main MK fighting game. (TE was more of a add-on), so people might think of her as a new character, those unfamilar with MK's storyline that is.
Let's hope so... sorry I'll have to cut this short tonight, I'll edit some more comments in tomorrow.

lol, wow. Who better than XiahouDun84 himself to start the Sareena discussion?
Um, well, let's see. I like Sareena, and I'm glad to see her in Armageddon even though they fucked up her look, imo. I really hope they can do some good stuff with her story and not do something stupid like her turning against Sub-Zero. I think her ending will probably involve her being able to retain her human form permanently.
It seems to me that they'll probably save the Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot stuff for the next-gen MK games so they should probably have Sareena's story in MKA have a lot to do with Ashrah and set up for interaction with the Sub-Zero/Noob Saibot stuff in the next-gen story.
One thing that I find odd is the whole Sareena/Older Sub-Zero thing back in MKM: SZ. It just seems a bit out of the blue, and I hope that they can make sense out of it.
I would like to know about her origins and all that. I think a Mortal Kombat action/adventure game involving the Netherrealm stuff would be interesting to see.
Overall, Sareena is a cool character that I hope to see survive and make it into the next-generation.

that XiahouDun84, was a nice post.
Well i haven't played mk:te, but now i wish i have. I do not think they would ever have her betray sub-zero since she's not malenvolant by nature. I think she would help. But her conflict with characters go on endlessly.
I also since mk:ms, wanted to see her and the original sub-zero be a couple, but since mkd, that was shot down really quite. So maybe she could be one of those people that can find Noob siabots good side,...or kick his ass.
Shinnok not being in the neitherealm, i even wonder if she'll fight him head on. He was powerful, but he may not have certain abilities.
I would also like to she her more importantlly away from a revenge plot if possible, because they're too many of those and they get old and repetitive fast. I would like to she what she would do on earthrealm. would she help the lin kuei, feeling a debt to pay(i really doubt it, but possible).
She may even kill oni's outside the neitherealm, and be an antivillian character. Or, she could be looking for something, which could be neat.
But yeah, i would love to see her in future games, but i would like to she her do her own thing, rather than revenge.

Even though I've nevered played MKM:SZ or MKDA:TE but I've grown to like Sareena. I don't know why though. She just seems very interesting to me with all the different paths her story can go. Indeed I will be mad if Armageddon is her last game. I can see her moving on into the next generation of fighters. She's not a new character to the series but she mightest well be since this is her first Major appearance in the games IMO,

I'm a little late but, we can make due. Time to discuss the next character.
Fujin, the God of Wind was first seen in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, assigned to guard Shinnok's amulet which was hidden at Temple of the Gods. On his way to retrieve the amulet, Sub-Zero battled and defeated Fujin who then tried to stop Sub-Zero by raging a violent wind
When Shinnok returned several years later, Fujin was one of the few Gods that survived his assault of the Heavens. Fujin then fought with Raiden to stopShinnok and after Shinnok was defeated, Fujin asked the Elder Gods that he be allowed to return to his post as God of Wind. But the Elder Gods told him that they had another task for him, Raiden then appeared and told him that he was going to ascend into the status of Elder God, but picked Fujin to be his successor as the protector of Earthrealm.
Since then, people have been wondering where the hell Fujin's been in the events of Deadly Alliance-Deception... with Armageddon, we just may get our answer....
I'm indifferent about Fujin, but I always thought that regardless of how many characters were in MK:A. (Even before it was called Armageddon) That Fujin NEEDED to be in MK7. As for what I'd like to see Fujin would do, I think he should be involved with Dark Raiden and maybe Shinnok. I don't think he should die, rather he should return in the next-gen fully taking Raiden's place as the leader/mentor of the good guys.
Those are my thoughts.

I like Fujin, and I'm really glad that he's in MKA.
I hope to see his story deal with characters like Dark Raiden, Shinnok, etc. and we'll probably see him truly become the next protector god of Earthrealm.

i like fujin but his story is limited in the sense that as long as raiden's around he's kind of obsolete and not really needed, if raiden ends up passing during this big fight then i can see big things for fujin maybe acting as the mentor for the next generation of fighters but i don't think midway will let raiden die so i think fujin will be killed by quan chi or shinnok maybe reiko

Fujin i thought was a neat character. I do see him getting hugely involved because of dark Raiden. Perhaps Fujin will save those Earthrealm warriors that Raiden thinks should die for failure. He could be the chance of Raiden to see how wrong he could be about humans.
Fujin i wouldn't mind doing more than i'll be the next protector of earthrealm. Theres plenty of things that need to be done, now raiden is angry and shinnok is back.
I would like to see Fujin involve himself though with more than just the gods. He should be talking to the earthrealm warriors too. I thinks this 3rd thing i mention, could make potential for future games, because he'll be having a big role, and be fleshed out more.

Fujin... always a favourite of mine. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of MK4 IMO. I think his look is awsome and he will be great character in MKA. As for his story, I have always pictured a battle with Raiden. I think Raiden could slowly become more corrupt. He begins to kill people for endangering their own and other peoples lives. Then, as he is about to kill someone (maybe Shujinko or Stryker) for doing something dangerous, Fujin comes in to save the day. Then an epic battle ensues between Raiden and Fujin. This could have two outcomes...
1. Raiden defeats Fujin, killing him.
2. Fujin defeats Raiden, who escapes, but returns in the next gen.
Whatever the case, this would be a good story for Fujin and would leave room for Raiden to be the boss of MK8. Think of him similarly to Hotaru - obsessed with Order that what he is doing is a little chaotic, and Fujin is the one trying to talk sense into him.

Fujin is another well-built character, he was one of the most impressive characters in MK4. Another god on the good side, nothing really original about him, but a pretty cool character.
His options are closely relate to the other gods:
#1 This option follows up the Dark Raiden gone evil possibility, in this case it is very likely that Fujin will step up to confront Raiden and make sure he does not pose a threat for Earthrealm. This is pretty probable, but not a very interesting and original plotline.
#2 The fight with Shinnok, the fallen elder god starts invading Earthrealm and our planet’s new protector decides to step up and fulfil his duties, also not a very option but probable yet again.
Not that many intricate options, however I expect Fujin to survive the Armageddon and hopefully improve his storyline.

As the above poster said, there are two real possibilities for Fujin:
He can either fight Dark Raiden, or take over Raiden's place as protector of Earth. It's really simple as that.
I can't see Fujin dying in this game, either.
Side Note: Anyone pre-ordering from GameCrazy? I can't seem to do it online, and I have not heard back from them... I asked them if I could pre-order online, because apparently you can't.

Sorry m0s3ph, you can't. Which sucks because I like the basic cover more than any of the grudge matches (why isn't there a Kitana/Mileena one?

In my oppinion, Fujin should fight with the Dark Raiden and win. And in defeating him it will turn him good. It's cheesy i know but i think its cool

Well... we're running late so... out of randomness... I pick Kai...
Kai was first introduced in Mortal Kombat 4 He learned his skills from great masters throughout Asia and was former member of the White Lotus Society. He met his friend and ally, Liu Kang, in America. He then journeyed to the far East where they reunited to assist Raiden in the battle against Shinnok...
and that's the whole story...
I'm indifferent about Kai, but I see potential for him. He could return in the next-gen, not sure what he should do, but he has potenital.
