I do disagree with you on your last part, the fans will like the more "intriguing" characters, Jax is anything but when compared to other MK characters.

I mean, look at Stryker? He's white yet...very hated except for "a small fanbase" so I honestly don't believe the "Black" thing or any jokes have anything to do with it. Jax overall to most of the MK fanbase has always been a boring character as has Stryker, but I like it how Stryker is more "vigilante" now. I think Jax plays by the rules way too much and that IMO holds him back at times. Now, his MKA ending now that's interesting....I'm sure in MK9 we'll find out just what happened to him exactly and which side he'll be for.

...How in the name of Christ can you be shocked that pretty much the MAIN CHARACTER of the franchise is more well received than a character that very few people (outside of the UMK3 fans and a few people on here) play and care about? I'm not happy Jax is in this game. I've never liked him, and the spot could be better used on someone who isn't honestly a waste of space.

As much as I love to disagree, I have to agree with you.

Jax does not fit well in this game. This game is based on a cataclysmic merger of two worlds. Only hardcore characters should be in this game. Jax is more of the garden variety type. It doesn't work well.

Interesting note from the MKast 4 podcast, which suggests Jax will lose his ground pound to Superman, in favour of a range of exciting new moves.

Should be interesting to see what they pull out.

Well, I think they both suck...but I expected they'd both be included. Like them or not, Liu Kang is MK's "iconic" deus ex machina and Jax is MK's iconic black guy.

That is the ONLY reason he' in the game.

that's not the reason. come on. he was in the mk1 movie and mk2 movie. he is iconic. and foreveryone else crying about they could have put someone else in that slot, damn i mean we still have slots available. and plus i'm sure that raiden will take that slot no doubt.

Because almost everyone on this site are always bitching about Kang thats why i'm shocked. You're the first person to speak with soo much passion about him that I met on here.

I heard that, and it gave me a little bit of hope. If they can use this oppurtunity to make him great (like he was in MK2 + MK3) then I'm all for it. Giving him new moves (if they don't get ridiculous) could revitalize the character. They'd have to give him a personality overhaul too though. Make him more Military-like.

this is true. i don't really know anyone who likes liu kang. most people find him pretty boring as far as i can tell.

Cage, Kung Lao, and Kano are all more iconic characters than Jax. Plus Kung Lao was also the supporting character in MKSM so he should continue to be in the MK games

Yeah im not offended Jax is in it but I hope they put my main fav in the game Johnny Cage he is a great fighter and the comic relief of MK and ive always played as him since MK1 if his not in the game how in the hell did Kitana make it?

there is no way that cage and kano are more iconic than jax. they are definitely more nostalgic than him but jax is just every bit as iconic as them. kung lao, is also just as iconic but also just as nostalgic as him, but he seems to be forgotten a lot and left out of games he shouldn't be.

also MKSM has nothing to do with this game or the main MK universe so no.

Well, Kitana is a very popular, distinct, and iconic character...who also happens to be one of the more important characters in the storyline.

Yeah, I'd like to think revitalization would involve a bit more than a few new special moves, but it definitely can't hurt. To that end, I'll be interested to see if they can draw upon the character for inspiration, rather than looking at fairly arbitrary standard moves.

I shudder at the thought that he might have some sort of makeshift teleport, but that's probably jumping the gun. Jax probably has the broadest thematic motiffs to draw upon from his MKSF-style weapon arsenal, more mechanic attacks connected to the cybernetics, or the opportunity to build a strong grappler base.

The former and latter are probably the two I'm most attracted to, following up on that desire for a more militant Jax, but with an opportunity to draw upon his earliest appearances to create a more unique fighter, and leave room to anticipate the cyber Lin Kuei characters (mechanic attacks).

The grappling could be a really exciting addition to MK. Maybe something somewhere between Bayman/Leon (DOA), and Zangief (SF). Something more motivated than the arbitrary inclusion of styles like Muay Thai that seem awfully disconnected from the character.

At first I really wasn't excited about Jax's inclusion. But after some thinking, watching John Parish in the Jax card from MKD, and remembering playing him in MK2 and MK Trilogy...I'm now hoping that MKvsDC would redeem Jax and make him just as great as he used to be. Hopefully they get rid of the stereotyping and stay true to Jax's initial background - a soldier. While there could be better additions to the roster, maybe this might be great for Jax and his character could improve from the horrible stereotype from last gen.

But anyway, while Jax hasn't been my favorite since he became a stereotyped mess, I'm thinking that maybe MKvsDC could be some good redemption to make him more likeable and better.

I don't mind, but I hope they make him more like in MK2..looks and moves. He was a very cool character back then IMO. After that it all went downhill.

Nothing wrong.I enjoy playing as him and I prefer him over lets say Kano,Rayden,Cage,Kang,Sonya.
