Rain;quite an interesting character in terms of my liking. Is there any way that any of one would like to see his return? He seemed quite important in MKA,but his storyline could have made more sense.

The "Taven & Daegon's brother" arc should be dropped.I didn't like the idea then;and I'm positive that I don't now either. However,I did enjoy his ending to a certain extent. He should be an important character in the Edenian realm.I'd like to see him become something of an "emperor" figure per se,as to the though of him just being a "Normal" character.

Meaning if Kitana were to be involved in MK8,she'd have some tie with Rain?If his ending were to be canon, she would have been enslaved along with the entire realm of Edenia, having a simple reason to revolt;to earn back her mother's kingdom.

His tie with the other ninjas seems to have have been long deceased,so I'd like his "establishment" to be with the Edenian-related characters. Not as an ally;but most likely an enemy;seeing as he became the "Protector" half-god prince. But in this game he should be a "full" god.

Any thoughts?

I used to like Rain a lot, but he fell out of my liking. Altho, it would be nice to see him return for a good purpose.

I wouldn't mind too much if Rain came back. The twist of him being Argus' third son was a surprise. But truth be told, I'm only really interested in Rain coming back if Kitana comes back. I've zero interest in any prospective feuds he could have with Taven.

But I don't want this:

No offense, but I hate this story already. Mainly because, from the perspective of Kitana coming back, it's essentially the same damn thing she's been doing: trying to save/defend Edenia.

I'm not exactly sure what I would want to happen, but it would tie into the speculation that Rain has some sort of crush on Kitana. Maybe he runs into her and tries to convince her they should be together since he's a Prince (or so he claims) and she's a Princess. I think that scene would be entertaining if nothing else.

Rain: "Kitana!"
Kitana: "Rain? I thought you were dead..?"
Rain: "Nope. Listen, I got great news."
Kitana: "Okay..."
Rain:" Remember how we thought my father was an Edenian general killed by Shao Kahn? Well it turns out my REAL father is actually Argus, the God of Edenia."
Kitana: "So....."
Rain: "That means I'm royalty! So now we can be together!"
Kitana: "......I don't think it works that way Rain."
Rain: "Sure it does. It's perfect....I'm a Prince, you're a Princess, Liu Kang's dead...it's kismet!"
Kitana: ".........confused"

But seriously, I could take or leave Rain. If he comes back, I'm most interested in his interaction with Kitana. But I could also see him causing trouble for Mileena which could be interesting as well.

Rain is a character I don't personally like, but I think his MKA story beefs him up in terms of potential importance and credibility. I think you really need to keep his Son of Argus storyline, though, because if you lose that, he loses any real reason to still be around, when he could be dead making room for new, more interesting, characters.

What I'd do with Rain, first and foremost, is give him another makeover. The "Purple Rain" thing makes him too much of a joke if we're meant to take him as a character seriously. I don't care how you change him physically, but I would lose the purple.

As far as his story goes, I envision Edenia pretty much being a mess after Armageddon. Sindel, Kitana, Mileena, Jade, Taven, Daegon and Rain all survive Armageddon, with the only Edenian character being killed: Tanya. Jade gets the honour of offing Tanya, but Tanya reveals some information she has gathered over the years to Jade, about how Jade's family is the true royal family of Edenia, and that Tanya is her second cousin, or something. Just something whack to throw Jade out of orbit, and to explain why Tanya was so dead-set on taking over, rather than just making her power hungry. So Jade leaves to center herself, and decide where she wants to go from there.

Mileena and Kitana have their faces swapped by Shang Tsung, who also survives Armageddon. He does this, because if Mileena takes over Edenia, posing as Kitana, as Mileena's creator, he can attempt to take control of her, and rule for himself. Mileena does succeed in convincing everyone that she is Kitana (by channeling the clone inside herself), and Kitana is imprisoned. It would only be a matter of time before Sindel worked things out, so Mileena kills her, and then says that Sindel has a "soul pledge" to Shao Kahn, so her mysterious death might be evidence that the Emperor of Outworld is dead, and the war is won. This strategy excites too many people for them to really look into her death.

Kitana is thrown into the prisons, where she meets Daegon, who betrayed Taven to get to Blaze, and although he defeated the elemental, it did turn out to be a test by Argus and Delia, so now Daegon must suffer in the prisons. Kitana and Daegon make an alliance to overthrow Mileena and Taven, who has been made protector of the realm.

Taven, however, casts aside his protector status to enter a tournament, with the prize actually being something that would aid Daegon, because Taven does not agree with the suffering his parents have inflicted upon him. This disappoints Argus, who then takes notice of his third son, Rain, for the first time. Rain steps up to prove that he can take the realm of Edenia, and serve as an adequate protector.

Rain can also be jealous that "Kitana" (really Mileena) has found a new lover, a new character that she plans to make king. This expands Rain's character to wanting both Taven defeated and this new character dead. When Kitana gets free, you can have Rain realise that she is the true Princess somehow, and join her in fighting for her to get back Edenia, with her as Queen and he as its protector.

There is also the origins of his power to explore. Argus' sons seem to have control over fire. So why, then, does Rain have control over the element of water? Assuming he has fire in him, what mixed with that would create water? Ice? So let's just assume for a second that if Rain's father gave him the power to control fire, then Rain's mother gave him the power to control ice. Of course, he can't do either, but he gets kind of an end result of the powers.

Ice powers are well documented in the MK world, so this would connect the Edenia storyline to Sub-Zero's. A half-brother to Rain, perhaps? I got the impression that Sub-Zero's father gave him his powers, though, so the relationship would probably be more distant than that. Half-cousins would probably be the strongest blood tie between them.

Rain can basically connect to a lot of characters. He fits in with the Edenia storyline really nicely, and he can actually get more characters involved. It's a bit of a mess, granted, but I think it could be a fun mess if written correctly.

I liked him since Trilogy. I think he should stay but his boring story with Taven needs to be dropped.

Rain's one of my favorites had he had a great make-over in MKA, I hope he returns as the King of Edenia, with Taven the new guardian.

I also hope Taven's Konquest wasn't all canon.

Wow, that was nice.

I think Rain is okay. He's on the bottom half of the ninja characters I like ....And yea, I also think he absolutely needs to keep that father//son tie between him and Argus in order to stay relevant at all. Mixing him in randomly would fail imO. Also, I don't think him and Daegon//Taven should become close....at least not yet. That'd be weird.

I loved his MKA make-over(both costumes were great imo), but I wasn't too thrilled with his moves or fighting style. I'd love it if they gave him more things to do with water, and stop giving him lightning for an attack! I mean it makes sense.....but it doesn't with Raiden around. I feel like there's plenty to do with one element not to cross them like that ever. He should have things to do with clouds and moisture//humidity...vapor even.

Water can whip, cut, and drown... A body of water can kill you if you meet it with speed. So, they could form him a mallet or something like that out of water, that explodes once the blow is dealt..ect..ect Then there's mist, gell, and bodily fluids. Too much can be done with one element(especially an element as diverse as water), to share an element with anybody else on the roster.

It'd also be nice, like Y-K-W said, if they dumbed down, or at least backed off all the purple. He's one of those characters I think should wear a simple purple garment or badge, but for a significant reason though. There should be some interesting history behind his costume either he knows about, or not. He could be the ninja, like before the release of MK, that drifts the furthest from the "I am a ninja character" persona as far as looks. Make him wear regular clothes(for Edenian clothing).

I really don't know what to do with Rain so, I'll look to ideas like Y-K-W's for the time being. That was really good.
