He's ok like him coz of Pi Gua and his design although made me think he was stupid when he tried to blind Kenshi in Kenshi's ending but that prob

This guy is only about order and strict order, he had a lame story line so he deserves a 2/10 ( havik is much cooler, cause his storyline can evolve more)

Coming from a guy who said that Sub-zero is top tier in MKD.
Essentially the only character that was worth mentioning in my book since MK1 and MK2. lets asses: the major beef with Hotaru is his plotline. While not essentially enriched, Hotaru does sport a good personality distinct from
almost all typical characters (goody goody good shoes, evil villain, the lone wolf who cares for nothing -sidenote: theese guys are the first to fall in any battle- or the backstabbing bastards). His only goal was a seeming effici-ency, and THAT is how a real warrior thinks and makes thr ninjas, monks and the raging Baraka obsolete. None can prove otherwise, check the Kassan manuscript for further details
Back on topic: his armor and flags. Both essential in warfare. The armor unlike all misconception doesn't make you clucky or slow, on the contrary.
The sheer weight put into a lowered G point makes you more formidable. Also, full armors put less weight on your shoulders and hips unlike mails.
Look at hotarus plating and see what I mean. I mean, that this Hotaru is practically unrestricted in armor. Has no gameplay effect for balance, OK.
No problem with that, but if I want to think logically, Hotaru is virtually deg-
reeless against slices and blades. At least would be in real life.
Plot: ewewew, his only anchor is that his unthoughtfully thrown in with no backbone. I like the logical choice type of characters, and Hot taru is not degenerated into the living calculator type characters like Spock, otr the TF Decepticon Shockwave. A zealot is a dangerous thing once focused. Plus his whole mentality is pretty close to ours during training sessions.
Gameplay: on the MKD tier possibly 9th or 10th minimally. Slightly under Liu Kang on par with Kabal. Sidesteps and lightning fast, his throws are interlinkable, possesses 3 easy infinites. Along with Havik possesses the most damaging and a prety safe single hit attack, and Grasshopper can-cels others once in air. Def. hard to play, and a 3rd special would have been usefull perhaps, but still, he is one of the decent characters in the game.
Plus he had one of the coolest endings in MKD, once said my MK fanboy part, which is now essentially pretty dead.
To be fair, Hotaru receives a 8.5/10 from me. If I would have a bloody eye, then he would have been a ridiculous 9/10. but thats saved for my Shang Tsung perhaps.

Dangerously Lowdown on the 1st Page

Hotaru was pretty much the first new MKD character I fell in love with. He has some deadly combos, awesome moves, and an awesome Fatality. As for his look, I love both of his costumes, but mostly his alternate.
Storyline wise, I think that the Orderrealm storyline is my favorite part of the MK story (Although it doesn't have much to do with the rest of it). Him turning to Onaga was a cool twist to his story, especially when he killed Sub-Zero.
He is definately tied with Darrius for my favorite MKD character.
Hotaru: 10/10.
