Hey guys, i was just wondering... who the fuck is Shao Kahn??? like, we never get to know his past and origin very well. In the 90's MK games, he is simply presented as the highest incarnation of evil, he is the main bad guy, wich really doesn't have any past, less being emperor of Outworld and conqueror of realms since ever. Then in MK Deception, we get to know that he was once a servant to Onaga (i hate this part), and actually betrayed his master and took his throne. But, he could not be a mere servant, i mean, the way his powers grown through times, making him almost a god (not as powerfull as an Elder God, but almost as powerfull as a God), the way he was able to fuse realms... etc.. his immence power may be explained by the hundreads of years stealing souls, but, just the capacity of FUSING REALMS is something that only Elder Gods could do! Apart from that ridiculous "happy family" of MK Annihilation (Kahn & Raiden = brothers and both Shinnok's sons), wich is totally non-canonical (as all Mortal Kombat Media appereances are), we don't get much more information on Kahn's past... just who is this guy? and who the hell has he gained such godlike powers??!

Nightcrow: Shao Kahn is a native of Outworld. When it comes to his race and a lot of his backstory, there is lots of exploration that is needed. I hope they can come up with a Mythologies type game that focuses on Shao Kahn's backstory, long before he became the Emperor of Outworld. When it comes to his relationship with Onaga, he was basically like Raiden in the sense that he was an advisor. So Shao Kahn was Onaga's advisor, and he was eventually influenced, subconsciously by the One Being, to take down his master and become the Emperor himself.
Shao Kahn's strength and power rivals that of a god. As for how exactly he is able to merge the realms, it's a bit ambigious at this point, but we do know that there are these orbs that make those realms stay combined with Outworld's. The more realms he fuses, the more power he obtains.
Hope this helps.

Hmm. Then how can they make new games if they don't bring up anything new?

Little is known about Shao kahn's origin other than the fact that he was second to the Dragon King. But Since he has the power to obsorb energy from other realms and merge it with Outworld as well as stealing the souls of billions of residents all at once from the realm he invades, he is somehwat a demi-God or some kind of Super natural immortal being close to/or like a God. if he isn't a god he is definitely close to one.

I've longed to have an MK Mythologies Kahn quest game, detailing Shao Kahn's rise to power.
Did he always have the spikes on his head? Is he some variation of dragon man(The way the Shokan are, and Onaga is)Was he always as large as he is now? Is what he is now, a product of dark magic? I'd like to know these things, myself.
I wonder if, at this point in time, it's too late to delve into this classic character's background. If he's back for MK8, I say go for it definitely.
And will someone make a bloody Kahn Smiley??

Well, thank you gentlemen for your help, on trying to solve this mistery. but now i face another dilema, wich maybe was already debated here: why the FUCK does Shao Kahn insist in being naked??? Come on, it is not a very Imperial atitude, for an Emperor to wear a pantless costume...! Oh of course, maybe he is a bodybuilder! at least Midway could have given him PANTS in armageddon... but no, they continued thinking that it is a good idea to show the fans that Kahn depilates himself. Is it just me, or Shao Kahn's costumne in mortal kombat conquest was the best that the character ever had? that costume was really dark, and evil, it fitted the character in every aspect. In MK: C, Shao Kahn had sharpened finger nails, he had royal rings, he didn't wear his helmet, but the crushed skull mask is much better. his eyes were painted in black, contrasting with the mask, giving the character a much darker look, he had a fantastic armor, made of black metal, full of spikes and knuckles. Not to mention his sword, a true noble weapon, with a dark style too. Much cooler than his exagerated war hammer... i trully wish that if Kahn returns after armageddon, he would be given an outfit similar to this one.

Kahn may know dark magic but he is far from a sorcerer since he is too powerful to be labeled one.

Shao Kahn's origin is not a "new dilemma".Shao Kahn is from Outworld period and for your costume argument it suits him in a way.Everyone got use to seeing the strong boss of MK.BTW how is that second one a "dilemma?"

About Me

oh, the new dilemma is not Kahn's past. it is the fact that every (or almost every) characters on the MK universe had evolued trough the story line. Almost every character has his/hers costume changed, evolued. And Kahn, being one of the older characters, has just ONE costume since his first appearence, never changed! Shang Tsung who has been presented little before Kahn (Kahn was created to MK2, making Shang an "a little bit older" character), has four different costumes. And Kahn, remains with his original one.

Well, Kahn is supposed to be a cross between a barbarian and a samurai warrior, so, the outfit suits him. And if we're going to be tachnical, he's had at least TWO outfits. You're forgetting the black alternate he has in Armageddon.

Subzero_7th already explained Khan's origin in great detail to me so I wont go further, since not much is known.
Every time I play Armageddon, I make sure I use Khan in his alternate costume. It's a better look.

Shao Kahn has so much potential. It would be good to see another side-game, or a history book of MK that lets us know more about him...but I honestly hope that he dies in MKA. Its been enough of Shao Kahn. The story has to move on, and for that, this major bad guy has to go.
LOL!
I think the look suits him. Sadistic, evil, etc. Its great for Shao Kahn. No big deal.

Aside from me being a big fan of Shao Kahn, I see two problems with killing him off.
The first thing that comes to mind is: who will the main MK villain be? Looking over MK as a whole, there have only been two good villains: Shao Kahn and Onaga. I'm all for giving Onaga more spotlight but after losing the Kamidogu and the throne of Outworld, I'm not sure if he could be the main villain again. Shao Kahn, on the other hand, has recovered his strength, minions, and throne. He's in perfect position to haunt MK once more. Furthermore, aside from Kahn and Onaga, every villain MK has made sucks. Shang Tsung isn't powerful enough to take the stage as a solo villain, Shinnok, in my opinion, has always been lame, and Quan Chi...well, he might work actually. However, I don't like him and even he might have trouble defining himself as the top villain (Of course, he could have manipulated his way to the Blaze's power in Armagedon which would make him a formidable foe.).
The second thing wrong with the idea of finishing Kahn off for good lies within Shang Tsung's Armagedon bio. If you read it, then you'll remember that Shang Tsung states that all of Kahn's minions will constantly come back from the dead to serve him. However, if Kahn dies, they all die with him. So if you kill Kahn, you kill Reptile, Goro, Mileena, Shang Tsung (major "uh-oh"), Reiko, and maybe even former lackies such as Noob Saibot, Baraka, Ermac, Kintaro, and Sheeva. Unless the MK team plans on restarting their series from scratch or dropping it all together, they can't afford to lose this many people. Given this, Kahn must live for at least one more game so that backstory can be given to explain some effort to undo the spell he cast on his minions.

Okay, people, 2 things:
1) What Kahn wears is not the same as his MKII garb. Look at his Deception bio and the render of him out of a bio.
2) If there is a game based on his rise to power, it would be funny if it was like a parody of gangster (Like The Godfather and Scarface.) and gang movies (Such as Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Warriors.).

They explain everything you need to know about the Dragon king man, the guy that said that. He was the ORIGINAL ruler of Outworld before being overthrown by Shao Kahn. We actually know more about Onaga then Kahn, I too want to know more about him personally.
He's very powerful though, near that of a god, evil and a badass in his own right.

Shao Kahn
1. Mk2-MkT:
2. Mortal Komat Deception//Unchained Primary
3. Mortal Komat Deception//Unchained Alternate Costume
4. Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Primary
5. Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Alternate Costume
Straight from either the MkWarehouse.com, or MkOs own Cut Out thread.
Haven't found better quality versions of the ones that look a little rough so, that's what we have for the "Looks of Shao Kahn" to date.
Oh he's my favorite Boss character overall, so I don't appreciate how they did him in the latest games. So much potential gone to waist.

I dont think that is Kahn dies then Noob, Shang, Goro and all of them die. They are not his minions, they are his allies, or servants. Minions are the things you fought in Shaolin Monks. Where does it say that if Kahn dies all his minions die, I'm not saying your wrong im just saying I've never heard it.
