He's back to being asian now! As we all know he have not been asian ever since MK2. I'm glad they giving him back his asian look! Subbys chineese again, i love it. what do you guys think? PS. His scar is back!

Until we see Subzero without the mask, his ethnicity is virtually undeterminable.
But isn't it cannon that Subzero is half-asian/half-american? Either way, I hope he maintains his anglo look, because the last thing we need is more inconsistency.

So the slanted eyes doesn't indicate that he's asian?

Yeah, it is pretty brilliant, considering that the character started off Asian. It's idiotic that his race was later changed, if it even was at all. Considering the way things have been handled over the course of the series, Sub Zero may have always been intended to be Asian/Chinese
Sort of like how a large number of Anime Characters have blonde hair and Blue eyes despite the fact they're supposed to be Japanese. Now THAT'S Brilliance at t's finest.

he doesn't look asian..

THANK YOU! Why are people so scared to admit he's asian looking? Half of the entire MK cast is really asian but have changes ethicities thanks to the movies like Raiden, Sub ect.
The only time he appeared full chinese was his MK2 ending, while the actual Sub-Zero you play as and the bio in MK2 is completely different.
I’m mixed, I wouldn’t mind if the next Sub-Zero (son) were more full blood Chinese. But to change this Sub-Zero’s appearance would not only be as weird as Jade's shifts, but would be retconing what’s already established. Sub-Zero Mythologies, I liked everything about it.

I think it would be great to see Sub-Zero portrayed as the Asian he is supposed to be.
The thing that really pisses me off about MK, going all the way back to the early days, is how almost everything in the MK universe is based off of asian culture, asian mythology, asian names, asian EVERYTHING. And then we see guys like Sub-Zero without their masks on and they're CAUCASIAN-LOOKING!
"Zero has an American mother" - Don't gimme that; the reason they had to retcon that garbage was because they were too lazy to find somebody who appeared asian in place of John Turk during MK3. (of course this problem could've been solved by simply having Zero stay masked).
As for the picture, I can't really tell either if he's asian underneath, but I hope so.

Even if I was blind, and Sub's eyes were slanted to the point of almost being shut, slanted eyes in a vacuum don't entail that subzero is once again Chinese, and his Anglo appearance in the previous games argues otherwise. From my perspective, the visible facial features we have so far make him look more Eastern European (think somewhat Romanian).
On the deeper level, one could argue that Subzero was never Chinese at any point in the series, considering the only time we ever saw him as such was in a non-canon ending.
I apologize if I sound smug. I'm not even saying that he isn't Chinese; I'm only saying the render proves nothing.

Can you please define on why that you beleive almost everyone who doesn't agree with you in this thread, are scared to admit he's back to Asian?
I wouldn't mind if he did, but I don't see it in that picture. I am not afraid of anything, don't judge people who don't agree with you.
Who gives a fuck what he is. Does ethnicity really matter when your playing? So what If he's "back to being Asian" or not. Does him being Asian make him stronger or play better?. Personally I don't give a fuck what he is.

Why not you don't be too harsh for something so little as ethnicity in a game. Otherwise it will make you look like an idiot. Yes people may write things that we will not always agree with or enjoy, but personally, you don't need to act like a tough guy and call people "loser fanboys" or "idiots" just because they asked a question.

1) It does sort of matter if a character starts off as one race and then becomes another for no particularly plausible reason. Whether his MKII ending was canon has absolutely nothing to do with his ethnicity....Whether he assasinated Shang Tsunng or not (can't quite remembe his ending) doesn't change the fact that he was Asian..
2)The Lin Kuei are a clan of Chinese "Ninjas". It would make sense that the majority of its members would be Chinese. The MKII ending suggests that at least someone on the MK team agreed with that assessment of the situation.
3)Please, let's no one act as if ethnicity doesn't matter here...Anyone really going to tell me that no one is going to bat an eye if Liu Kang, Shang Tsung or Kung Lao are portrayed by blonde Caucasians? Subs is one of my favorite characters and honestly, his race doesn't matter to me, I don't really question why Cyrax is a black guy underneath (he's cool too). All I'm saying is, it's just odd to start a character off as being one race and then changing them somewhere down the line......Make Jax a white guy now? Why not! Meh.

You do bring up some good points, I will have to admit that. It is weird how they started Sub off as being Asian and changed that down the line. With Sub-Zero though I just can't help but not to care what his ethnicity is due to the fact that we only get a glimpse of his eyes. He wears a mask and when Im playing I don't put myself right in front of the T.V to see if his eyes are slanted or not. So yeah, thats why I don't give a shit about that.
With Liu Kang, Shang and Kung Lao, there not wearing a mask. You can fully see that they are Asian. So if there ethnicity was changed than that would obviously be a big deal because first they would look retarded as fuck, second it would be a huge and very noticeable change. They've gone on too long being Asian to be changed now. Sub-Zero's change occurred in the middle of MK. With Subby the change wasn't really too dramatic because again, the mask. His face is hidden.
Yes I am aware of MK3 and MKDA.

I agree with your third point, but beyond the MKII ending, what evidence is there that Subzero was ever Asian? I don't believe this was observed in any of the bios.
Also, the Lin Kuei primarily builds its muscle by gathering warriors (from I understand, primarily children) from all over the world. The fact that Cyrax is black corroborates this claim. Whether this information finds it's source in the main line of games, I couldn't tell you, but it seems true so far. I honestly think the only reason Subzero appeared Asian in the MKII ending was because they didn't have any solid backstory for him yet (I know, that doesn't justify it, but still).
