huge props to versatile today for basically manhandling the smash series for me to understand. literally sat there for hours talking to me about it. unbelievable chris. all that stuff you wrote, you need to jot down for everyone here, that alone will get players interested.
smash bros is most definitly a fighting game, just not in a traditional sense. with up to 4 players playing at once,it makes it even better and more original then a fighting game, imo.
i cant wait to get on this shit one way or another.
dave, you should definitly reconsider, that is, if you are even interested in the core gameplay it has to offer. very fun very deep and sure as hell puts mk in the shithole.

Check, you need a non-biased view, my friend. Most of these players who claim it as a fighting game have never competed in real fighting game tournaments.
No one outside of SSB players actually even thinks it is a fighting game. No one outside of SSB players actually even cares about it. It just happens that all the Wii fan boys (and trust me, there are a lot of them) hype it up as the biggest sensation since the original Street Fighter.
In conclusion, it's not a fighting game. It's certainly not even deep.

Shut up already.its clearly goin nowhere.
And please enlighten me on the infinite combo's i used in mkd please.....lol that was a sad comeback.
I also like how you bash and bash the mk series when u spent 2 years of your life on mkd all the time.So you must LOVE shitty games in your oppinion therefore why not try ssbb.

Were you not using Ashrah's Throw, jump back, jumping punch, repeat BS at one time?
Anyway, I've quit MK:D on numerous occasions but players kept PM'ing begging me to play them and so I did.
MK:D is more of a fighting game than Smush no matter how broken MK:D is. At least it has the traditional characteristics of a fighting game.

Yeah man no doubt you quit alot but there was atleast a full year where u played non stop and you bash it so bad,mkd had some nice comp from late04 to late 05'
And no i didnt use that ashrah bullshit maybe your thinking of Karate chump.
Closest thing i used was ash second stance kick,cs,sword uppercut jump over grab wich was legit, and i didnt use that till the end.

Yeah Check no problem. You're going to love it. If you played horrid ass MK so long like the most of us you're going to be pleased. The stuff I told you isn't even scratching the surface. Like I told you before, it isn't traditional, but it's still a fighter with a big competitive scene, something MK didn't have
Iori, yeah. Fox definitely got toned down, but he needed to be. He was too good in melee. However, the things I'm seeing out of him in Brawl makes me believe he will still be great. Up smash still has nasty star KO potential even though it isn't as powerful as it was in the first two. He can sill dair into shine. He's still fast as hell with good priority and nasty aerials. He'll still be good.
As for him being worse than Wolf and Falco I am not sure. I don't see why he should be directly compared since none of them play alike at all. Falco and Fox share a few moves, but even those have distinctly different properties. I will be playing all 3, but Falco will be one of my mains. I personally think he will be the weakest/hardest to play. His shine is weird as hell now(he kicks it and it retracts like a yoyo) and he lost his power off much of his aerials.
Ima make him nasty though.

I don't know if anyone saw the new video today, but Lee Harris highlighted the effectiveness of Brawl's new parry system.
As veteran smashers know, plenty of moves cause knock back and block stun if shielded. This makes punishing even seemingly unsafe stuff impossible.
In Melee, the parry system, or Perfect Shielding if you will, allowed you to recover immediately from the shield and punish without knockback. This was done by hitting shield the VERY FRAME an attack would connect. However, the timing really tricky and hard to apply. However, in Brawl the timing is much more lenient.
Check it out here.

Melee is so different from Brawl that playing playing Melee would be worthless. Trust me. You'd be wasting money with 2 weeks to go.

Me and and my brother (Azuro) both live in Cleveland so our connections will be the same. Hopefully we get a fuckin adapter to havea wired connection to decrease lag (Wii online+ WIFI= DOO DOO connection).
I forgot exactly who he chose when were addicted to melee but I think his main was Falco. He's a Pokeman fan so I think he'll be using Pokeman trainer and that Lucrio thing. Oh and oddly enough he used Jiggllypuff.......and won.........
As for the "Is SSBB a fighting game or not" thing I personally don't think its a fighting game but more of a "brawler". We were arguing about it this morning about but in the end we just made up a catagory for it called a "brawl fighter "or something like that.
Oh and I don't know if y'all realised this but Dave HATES Nintendo with a passion.

That's what's up. I had no idea you guys were brothers. The connection so far for Brawl has actually been very good. Much better than MK. I don't know why you think it'd be bad. I play 3S online all the time with Yayo and Arcade using wifi and it's fine. It lags with RJ but thats because he lives in Oregon.
Did you two sign up to the online leagues?

Yeah I saw some vids of Brawl played WIFI and it looks pretty nice, besides the fact that the loading can suck sometimes. But we'll just have to see what type of lag it is. Ifits like Tekken (delay) or like Small Arms for the 360 (hits but does no damage) I'm done automatic.
And whats the "online leagues?"

Just use Kirby and eat your damn opponents. Or Yoshi and shit them out as an egg.

There are two Smash Leagues being done for online and Smash. Basically, both will be sports several regions and you'll join the league that fits yours. Cleveland is the midwest I guess, so you'd be in the mid west division. You compete with others in fights for ranking. The system is set up really well. There will be a 1 vs 1 league, a 1 vs 1 league with items(for the scrubbies), 2 vs 2 leagues(for teams) and full crew support.. With the crew feature you'll be able to seek out crews and have crew battles(5 on 5 round robins for bragging rights) One of them is far more deep in that the top 10 or so players will be invited to the pro circuit, and then the 2 or so best will be given entry into the playoffs for prizes and bragging rights. Both are just gonna be sick, so if you and your brother are playing you should def sign up.

You guys gonna playing offline too? I'm lucky to be in the tri state area where some of the best Smashers in the world are, so I will be attending plenty of tournaments offline as well as competing in both of those leagues. Already got my crew for brawl offline and onine.

Lmfao, Jigglypuff is the SHIT!
Hehe, no Pokemon Trainer for me. Jigglypuff and Lucario are the only Pokemon-related characters I'd use. I'm rollin' with those two, as well as Falco, Link, and Sonic as my mains.
Yeah, we discussed Brawl's genre, and it's nearly impossible to truly define. So we just settled on brawler-style fighter, lol.
And as for the Wifi connection, our router is configured, so it's a lot better. We just haven't had a chance to see if it really payed off, since the only online game I have for it (DBZ) had a shitty online that was laggy as hell. So hopefully Brawl won't be bad.
Oh, Dave, I've been meaning to ask you, where you've been on PS3? I sent you a friend request like some time ago, and you never accepted. Been meanin' to get some games goin' in DR with you.
Versa, we wish we could go to offline tourneys, but atm, we're just plain out unable to even consider it.

I just haven't played lately at all online. Once I get on it, I'll accept your friend request.

Check - 70% chance. As much as MK sucks it'll always have a place in my geeky heart as the first series I ever played, and not playing game with Sub-Zero in it is against my morals. Whether it's on PS3 or Xbox 360 is the question. Xbox will PROBABLY have the inferior competition as usual, but I'm not choosing which system I'll be getting on that. Right now I am leaning towards PS3. So hopefully the players I'm interested in fighting will be getting it on the PS3.
While Brawl is gonna be my thing, I will also be playing Street Fighter 4, Soul Calibur 4 and Tekken 6(if I get the PS3.) So I'll be seeing yall on those with God's blessin lookin to compete with Akuma/Ken, Astaroth/Yeon-Song and Hwoarang/Kazuya. Oh yeah, and I like that Miguel cat too. That nigga looks raw I might pick him up.
Azuro - Brawlers are normally side scrollers where you walk around fighting people no? O_O. Whatever, call it what you want as long as yall playin : )
I'm not very impressed by Jigglypuff or Lucario so far. For J-puff rest got toned down and can't KO a middle weight at even 70%. I'm not sure how effective WoP still is, but I doubt it saw any improvements since characters recover out of hit stun much faster in this. Rollout looks the same, aerial game looks nerfed. Not looking too good so far.
Lucario looks like a solid mid tier, but nothing wow. His KO power seems lacking, but did you know the more damage he takes the stronger he gets? Pretty interesting. His dair looks amazing and he can latch onto various surfaces on a stage that isn't the ledge, making him a recovery monster. My prediction is his game will revolve heavily around SH dairs into pressure. Aura sphere of course looks solid and having a counter helps. Also has good tilts for juggle starters.
Why can't yall hit up offline tournaments? Yall both teens no? There's definitely going to be tourneys in Cleveland. Probably only 10 bucks or so to enter if not less.

Well money isnt the problem but its just well.... We don't have any transportation to get to a tournament. Dontay is 18 with no drivers licence (sad aint it?) and I'm only 15 so I couldn't drive if I wanted to. And if we ask our mom she'll look at use, laugh, then say no.

lmao I see.
Well, sign up to those sites, and smashboards too. It's the MKO of smash.

Btw, random fact: Mario Kart isn't featured at Evo. It is hosted by people. Smash is an official game in Evo's line up.

For those who become top level in this game you can finally be able to show off your skills for big time cash unlike MK : )

Damn, Jigg got shitted on it seems. I hadn't heard too much about her, so I don't know much. Lucario looks decent. I like that increasing power when he takes more damage. I also am in total love with his dair and dsmash. You see the hitboxes on that dsmash? Fuckin' monstrous.
Yeah, money isn't the reason we can't go to a tournament. I just don't have a license. I got my car picked out and shit, but hell, I can't drive it!
