I loved the Fighting Reptile at the pit bottom! brought to mind the secret in MK1
In the Living Forest we should have fought Smoke and Jade! i think!

ok this mode is bullshit.

it crashes almost everytime i play. ive had that kintaro/goro gltich happen a few times, and guess what????? the last time it happened it totally fucked my controller up..(the no controller in port two thing) NOW MY CONTROLLER DOESNT FUCKING WORK!!!!

im guessing this mode wasnt ment to be discovered. i have problems EVERYTIME i play this joke of a "mode". it wouldnt suprise me if it fries someones memory card. if i wre you, avoid this lameness.

Okay, you guys that are getting off the chart glitches, do you handle your discs properly? If not, then that could be the problem. See if there's any smudges or scratches on the bottom and clean them off.

If there isn't, then you probably got bad copies. I'll check this mode out asap to see if it happens to me.

I had no problem!.. this is probley why this wasn't told as it prob doesn't work in the US but the PAL version they had time to fix it but released the NTSC people that bought it would be angry that it doesn't work on there version! so it was never released! but its been found now!
I'm kinda happy it dunt work in the US as they had MK2 on there version and we have this! sounds fair to me!

Man theres a lot of things u have to do to unlock just the mode.

But theres health things scatterd about n when you beat them u get life!

What are you talking about, It works fine. It's mainly the x-box users that are having problems.. in both regions..


I think that's the boss battles, that's not survival mode. You can get extra health by defeating kano.

What I want to know is, what in the world would drive someone to even try to do what you have to in order to unlock this mode? It's an extremely crazy method that I would have never even thought about doing while even just playing for fun.

I mean what if there are others modes you could reach by doing somethin weird like that? Too many possibilities.

good job finding this, but I must know, did you guys just randomly find it? did you recieve some kind of tip or hint? I, like other people, would not have found this in a million years without even a clue to work with

Yes it is 100% clear. Turn all the sound off accept the voices and keep doing the spear attack untill you hear it.

thats no excuse. no mk is ever properly play tested. and thats the biggest problem in mk. mkd is a perfect example of that.

Here're some Health locations (not that they're entirely necessary)...

Level 2: In the bottom-left, Wall Jump between the two planked walls into a Medium Health.
Level 2: In the bottom-right, Wall Climb the bamboo ladder then jump backwards into a Medium Health.
Level 4: Small Healths and EXP bonuses are randomly hidden in the weapon racks around this arena.
Level 7: Once Kano is defeated, a Test Your Might game awaits you on the right-hand side. Smashing it earns you a Large Health.
Level 9: Destroy the nine kombatant statues of the Warrior Shrine for a Medium Health in each.

And here're some weaponry locations...

Level 1: The Foundry axe. Technically not a weapon found in Survival Mode, but you can take it with you and use it there, nevertheless.
Level 2: On the left-hand side of the arena, a sword is hidden from view by a sheeted wall.
Level 2: Another weapon to choose from... on the right-hand side, dual pickaxe-like weapons are easy to spot.

Also of note, coded banners around Level 2 read "GNU", whatever that means. There are also smaller banners above the swinging poles in the same arena, which read, "JOEL", "TONY", "JOEL" again, "DCJMEJ" (more gibberish), "BTAJ" (nothing again) and a sixth banner which is obstructed by a lantern, though the final symbol is "Y", so I'm assuming it's "TONY" repeated. Seems like a couple of Midway folk threw their names in there.

Some are also under the impression that because there's another new living tree in Survival Mode, it could count as one you need to feed (referring to the Game Over message "Did you feed ALL the trees in the forest?"). Adding to this possibility is the fact that there is a door in the same area. On the right-hand side of Level 6, Wall Jump to a small alcove in the wall. Keep ascending then change your camera view to "Close". You'll now have a good view of the area, and an unknown door facing you. Highly likely that this mystery door is just background design, though.

Does this work on Xbox? Since Xbox doesn't have an R2 what would I need to press to replace that? And what did I need to break first?

yea what's the R2 button on Xbox? is it R or the white button? or something else? i haven't had the chance to try it yet but I will soon.

I just did the code and found that u dont have to use (O attack) on all the barrows. I broke the 4th and 5th barrows using (square attack) and (triangle attack) and the code still worked.

Ok. I'm going to investigate ALOT more now (after Big Brother uplate lol) And I'll be back with a full summary on how to get Survival Mode. Wont be long...
