is it just me or dose everyone who is connected to the elder gods in some way gets fuced in the end, look, scorpion was there champion and he asked them to reseruct his clan, they did but now they are all like him........undead. kobra in his ending wanted to be lord of all the universe, they let him but he has to choose a lady to rule at his side, so assclown made kira his lady, she became goddes of death and he died from a kiss. shujinko thought he was there champion but did they do anything to give him a hint he wasn't noooooooooo they don't tell raiden who was an eldergod so he can stop jinko, he ends up exploding himself to stop onaga and shujinko is stuck to the task of uniting warriors to stop onaga alone. in sub-zero's ending he becomes an ice god and then they try to kill him, and do i have to say that all the crap could have been stoped by them but they sat on there asses and did nothing, you can't blame raiden for getting disgusted with them.

It works like this -

Elder Gods are the big mob bosses. They don't even exist in the Heavens - they're BIGGER than the Heavens. They exist in the Void. From there, they watch over the realms with one purpose alone - to make sure the universe doesn't collapse onto itself. To make sure that all of existence keeps flowing. Now, realms can conquer other realms, realms can be destroyed, WHATEVER. But if something threatens ALL of existence, then something must be done. And that's all the Elder Gods can do. Protect existence itself. That's why they created Mortal Kombat - to make sure not one person gets too powerful, or they can awaken The One Being. They can't involve themselves with the mortals' everday life. For that, we have the lesser gods.

The lesser gods are the ones in the Heavens. A different group of gods are appointed to each realm to make sure that particular realm flows right. The lesser gods for Earthrealm are Raiden, Fujin, etc.
Argus was one of the lesser gods for Edenia. And there has been mention of "Outworld gods." They're tasked with making sure the realm they are charged with taking care of stays intact, still carries life.

Now it may seem like the gods are assholes, but that's cause they're not concerned with people's feelings. They're concerned with making sure that life keeps on going. Nothing more. If they fucked someone up, its caused they suspect or know they would be a liability to existence, they'd misuse and try to take it all for themselves - That's why Kobra got his in his MKA ending. They didn't say anything to Shujinko because then they'd be interfering with his life...and they can't. They didn't say anything to Raiden because Raiden never asked or confronted them. Plus Raiden trusted the Elder Gods too much. He really has no other choice - even if he asked, they don't have to explain themselves to him. That's how it's always been. Sub-Zero becoming a god without their consent could cause problems - someone becoming more powerful than the rest could lead to him possibly getting power hungry on the level that Shinnok was, and he was a god too. Can't be having that. As for Scorpion's situation......well, there you have a point. Have to wait for his MKA bio, I guess.

Well, you know by screwing over Scorpion, the Elder Gods actually caused a liability in their plan to prevent Armageddon. So geez, you'd think the Elder Gods would be trying to find more ways to PREVENT Armageddon rather than CAUSE it.

you bring up good points, but wouldn't interfering in shujinko's life help stop armageddon because onaga was going to use the kamidogu to merge reality together and become the host of the one being. if they are all powerful then the least they can do is send someone to tell young jinko what he was doing was putting the universe in danger. all i'm saying is that if they really wanted to prevent armageddon they should have stepped in, screw being above all other beings and try to stop the universe from getting obliterated by themselves and not realy on lesser gods. there is something to be said about doing something yourself, but john tobias and ed boon forbid they should actually do there jobs instead of just watching what happens like an old lady watching a bad soap opra they could have stoped it but their aragance makes them think they are above what happens in the realms and that mortals can't be underestamated in how we can either bring peace or complete hell apon the realms, the nexis may be a void, but it is still part of the universe and it attaches other worlds to it so you think the kids running on your lawn and going in your yard would atleast provoke a verbial responce. if they were more involved they could have stoped armageddon from ever comming, but they choose to simpally let mortals do what they want even in the nexis and said screw this we are above interferring and if all reality is wasted so be it. we don't have any proof of the existance of the eldergods other than mk4 and mkg and things said by raiden and others in the rest. when was the last time the eldergods did anything as elder gods, when they destroied the one being and shattered his body into the realms so they created all reality okay but tend to your garden so weeds don't grow.all i'm saying is that they should do more to keep reality and the universe in existance

I agree with psychofight, that is one reason I was pissed off at the ending of MK SM. Before the fight with Shao Kahn a voice says "the Elder Gods will help you", and Im like WTF, since when does the Elder Gods ever interfere with mortals?

Anyways I only know off my head in 2 instances when the Elder Gods interfere with mortals, one is when they choose their champion (Monster, Scorpion) and 2 is when they created the Mortal Kombat tournament when the wise men on Earth appealed to them.

I suspect that the Elder Gods regularly speak to the lesser gods such as instructing Argus to prevent Armageddon, appointing Raiden as protector of Earth and later on appointing Raiden as an Elder God. I guess technically Raiden was already an Elder God when he appointed Fujin as protector of Earthrealm.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they confirm at Fight Night that Shujinko's ending happened in Deception and that HE was the one who defeated Onaga?

So why did the Elder Gods "betray" Scorpion?
Because he didn't do his fucking job.

i was at fight night, they said shujinko was one of the primary warriors who beat onaga so i think we have some reason to believe that scorpion may have helped shujinko and completed his task, i also think jax ending in mku has a facter in it so a weakend onaga vs a warrior who knows every fighting style in existance, the hellspawn champion of the elder gods and a pissed of biomecanicly enhanced black guy who was the strongest man on earth before his arms got increased strengh. yea, so without the kamidogu onaga was a big target and shujinko had a big group with him. maybe they should have brang taven in mku to add more depth to his story but thats my oppinion hey sz691 where can i find a blow up of the pic in your sig

Maybe the elder gods can’t be everywhere at the same time, and they had no clue of what Shujinko was up to. Think of all the realms the elder gods have to govern. This is probably the reason for the lesser gods like Fujin and Raiden in the first place. In Fujin’s bio, it stated he didn’t even know of Raiden’s sacrifice, this alone points out the lesser gods can’t see everything at once.

I think of the lesser gods like Fujin and Raiden as somewhat of a supervisor at a job, they keep a good eye on you, but you can still get away with things. The elder gods being the boss, that barely have time to pay a visit.

If the elder gods should’ve kept an eye on anyone, it should’ve been Damashi. Of all the realms they have, they could’ve spared one personal guard to watch his actions at all times.

about what lone_wolf said, they arnt controlling every realm, for example, read the story for MK3, raiden says that he cant interfear because the outworld gods controlled earth.


speaking of that, how come every god in Mk is an earth one??

Yeah, I know, I meant they can't see everything in their own realm, since Fujin is also Earth's.

Looks like it's starting to show others, like how armageddon showed Edenia's.

For the others, I bet it's something like this.

Shao Kahn killed the other Outworld gods. The chaos realm despises rulership so their gods probably enforce the chaotic behavior to keep it balanced or they got killed somehow by the chaosrealm people. Besides Shinnok, the netherrealm doesn't seem to have one, instead one of the inhabitants seems to always want to claim leadership. As for the orderrealm, there's a good chance it has one, but not introduced.

Going by Shujinko's ending, Scorpion DID give his fighting aura (or something like that) to Shujinko to allow him to defeat Onaga. So thus, Shujinko defeated Onaga with Scorpion's help.

Then again, we all know the real reason Scorpion wants revenge against the Elder Gods. Because somebody wanted Scorpion to show up in Konquest regardless of what it did to his story.

I think it's because the Elder Gods felt that the "reward" they gave to Scorpion had the worth of what he did for them. But still, the Elder Gods should've been smarter.

Like PNF said, Scorpion helped Shujinko defeat Onaga, but Scorpion was not the one to deal the final blow. So basically, the Elder Gods half-assed the deal with Scorpion due to Scorpion half-assing the job. I'm still surprised there was no mention of his family unless the storywriters consider his family part of the clan, which is kind of strange considering his and Sub-Zero's MK4/MKG endings in which he says "clan and family" (or was it "family and clan"? confused).

I think it's possible that Damashi was somehow undetectable by both the Elder Gods and Lesser Gods.

Regardless of how justified or not Scorpion's anger is towards the Elder Gods... it still sucks.

But like I said, the real reason for this is because somebody wanted Scorpion to be a boss in Konquest mode and they didn't care what had to be done to his story. That's the real reason for Scorpion's idiotic Konquest story. (I'm amazed that }{ombat thought it was great...)

In all honesty, sometimes I think the MK Team DOES know of the complaints about Scorpion's storyline, but this game was their way of saying: "Fuck you. We like Scorpion the way he is."

the elder gods are spoiled brats. in reference to the one being: "screw this guy, he's just feeding off our energy. that aint cool." then they zapped him and made him the kamidogu. quan chi (who, with the exception of Shao Kahn, got screwed over more than anyone else), gets awesome powerful and challenges the Elder Gods

they turned on both of their so-called champions. it's already been stated whats happened with scorpion. but Shujinko also got shafted by the elder gods in his MKA ending. The only reason they didnt like Onaga, was cause he was tryin to become/bring back The One Being dude. and they once again said "HELLL NO! we ain't bein that guys snacky time thing!" so they sent their minions to wail on him. i'm waiting for the day the elder gods get shafted in someone's ending...possibly in MK:8 (resurrection? thats just what i'd like to see them call it)

he eldergods, the only characters i want to see die are that way if they return raiden to the way he was, with the eldergods gone more reasonable gods like raiden, fujin and argus can take over the possions of elder gods, and maybe the universe will be secure for the first time in......... when was the last time the universe was secure, i would like to see what the elder gods would do without the light warriors, i can see it in my head

all the hero characters in mk stand behind raiden and fujin all carring signs

the script part was a joke the paragraph was not if raiden, fujin and all of the warriors of light vanished at once, the eldergods would be stumped about what to do unless they creater of light forbid work, they could put there heads between knees and kiss there asses goodbye because they won't do anything until they get threatened directly, even then they will give it to someone elise and say, do our jobs for us and save the universe your the champion of the eldergods sucker.....we mean mortal

I'm really curious to find out which will no doubt be in someones bio on how Onaga got resurrected.He had to have been, since he was killed by Jinko and possibly others in the process.

We know who brought back Kang, Dark Raiden but who the hell brought back Onaga?Or

The whole "Shirai Ryu zombie" angle frankly disgusted me. The Elder Gods are supposed to be omnipotent beings above and beyond most forms of comprehension. I could understand if they simply removed Scorpion's new privileges for failing to perform their work, but actively twisting around his desires in a form of cruel irony? It makes them seem less omnipotent and more like...well, mean kids with a magnifying glasses held over an ant on a sunny day. I feel like it taints whatever role they occupy as impartial deities. It seems silly and immature IMO, they should be above that.
