Why does a character have to officially be gay? The beauty behind the fighting game characters is that they typically don't have an assigned sexuality, and it's left up to the fans to decipher. Be happy it's that way; if you think a character should be gay or straight or what have you, make it so in your analogies. Take liberties in your fan fictions and arts and bios. These aren't RPGs where there's an on-going romance between half the cast, so use it to your advantage.

Most people say that out of immaturity. I don't see purple as being necessarily a gay color, but it's been bashed together with the image so long it's hard to avoid it - I do actually have a FLAMBOYANTLY gay friend who who wears purple sequins in stripes down the sides of his pants. Maybe that's it.

I actually think that as irrelevent as sexual preference is in the MK series, making Rain gay would prove interesting. My own belief is the only reason most people like him is because he's a ninja. I'd like to see if his fans would stick with him if that detail was brought to light - and no, I'm not implying that all Rain fans are homophobes.
