Hey Guile and Starwind, haven't seen you guys in awhile.
I'll play whoever has the most options and then whoever is best. I'll throw some Subby around cause well, we all love Subby :) Scorpion's get-over here will ring a classic tone, as well as some Kang and Raiden. I dunno really, whichever character makes the game bearable to play, if any, then I will pick that character.
It'd be cool if you guys could get some kinda gameplay thing going for MKD. Even if the game is not upto par, we could explain what is wrong in more concise forms and post it with the how-to-play tactics, therefore when people read up on how to get good, they will also know what's wrong, maybe a checklist for the next MK to cover?
Ruvo: You aren't playing Scorp right if you use his sword and Hapkido. Our Scorp vs your Scorp, our scorp will never ever be open for retaliation and will constantly crack down on your defense with guranteed(or near) hellfires vs. your scorp who is trying to attempt unsafe combos and will be punished upon block. Scorpion has a few tricks that allow him to fight without ever being worried about anything in Pi Gua, unless you know how to play that Scorp in MKDA, you don't stand much of a chance. Anyways, MKDA is all 50/50 mixups anyways, so it's hella random on who would win against two players who know what they're actually doing besides people who think more hits in a combo equates to more skill. Damage reduction means that scoring hits right and well is better than adding a billion hits to your combo since that thing will get reduced like a mother. Add that with the fact that those big chains you speak about forcing you to either stop mid-chain if its blocked or stopped in your sword stance, you will get punished for huge damage since that chain you speak of is unsafe on block. However, when I attack with Scorp, regardless of whether you block correctly or not, I will score the same damage or close and also be entirely safe, hell, most people here will put you into a position where you won't be able to avoid a hellfire.

When it's released, peeps will be laying down the law as far as D's gameplay is concerned. No doubt about it. Not sure how it will be organized. It will probably just be random thoughts thrown around at first. I think it was Menth - if not, saaarweeey - who brought up the idea of a collective effort in the organization. I've got forum space which I don't even use, meh.
MKD is going to be about management, lol. Lots of shit that needs to be managed in that game; online time, wading through the gimmicks to actually get shit, researching, etc...and guess what's coming out a month or two later?
T5!!
That, is going to consume my soul, for damn sure.

""You know nothing. Which is why I will refrain from flaming you. However, I will just say "No"." - hahah, what an ignorant statement, you cant tell me i know nothing if i didnt even explain much at all, i could say the same thing about you, and as for creativity, try this kids, execute Scorpions longest combo and with the end of the combo with the sword pop up pop him up ONE more time and immediately switch to Hapkido and finish him off with the spectre blast, that'd be 12 hits, plus if you can get him with the spear before hand (and it aint a piece of cake on max diff) and make him hit a wall it'd be 14 hits, theres LOTS of shit you can do, rather than just the basic "popup combo-one pop up hit, 2 pop up hit, less than 6 hits most likely...i can finnish guys off on max in less than 15 seconds sometimes without even getting hit at all, in my opinion it is THE fighter, its brutal, FAST, non repetative and challenging if you really know how to play, but if you dont then i guess you'll just be another one of my weak victims who gets smoked in record speed because of lack of understanding on how to play the new fighting system the way its supposed to be played, so, i'll see you online with a vengeance kids"
Reading this silly post has brought me back to my point..you..know..nothing. Thank you.
You know, I doubt anyone can say anything about MK, because SOMEONE will disagree with you. To each his own. What is "deep" gameplay to one person is shallow to the next. I think Virtua Fighter's gameplay is shallow (and I own it, have played it, so I'm not ignorant), but many of touted it as fighting perfection, while MK gets bashed for "weak" gameplay, when I love it (even if you do have to memorize combos for a ton of characters, but what fighting game doesn't?) I like it, other hate it. To each his own. I'll form my opinions, not on reviews or other's opinions, but first-hand experience. Fatality.

Well, simply put if you feel VF4's gameplay is shallow and MKDA's gameplay deep there is only two possible reasons.
A. You are a complete retard
or
B. You have a twisted idea of what a deep fighting game is.
I think for your case it's B because you seem like a well spoken, fairly intelligent person, but whatever.
Scorpion's combos suck. If you use them you either suck with Scorpion or just suck at MKDA in general. Good day.

All i have to say is that mkd would be way better off if they focused on the fighting engine then the silly minigames.Boon himself said in the Gamepro interview that the main focus was on the minigames wtf remember when mk was focused on the fighting boy that was the shit.

This is a losing battle. Like I've said before, no one will agree. I, for one, am tired of fuckin debating when no one listens to one another. Besides that, too many peeps have, what we call, a superiority complex around here. I'll try my damndest to stay out of these threads from now on. TRY.

Superiority complex? LOL, nice.
Look, I and most everyone understand where peeps are coming from. I understand that people enjoy simple, hell, I do. I understand that they enjoy MK for the fats, the story, the gore and the bouncey tits; I used to. Btw, bouncey tits has it's own thread now "sigh."
What I can't understand is how people continue to not see the MAJOR faults that were in DA. The same faults which will most likely be in D; which have been reinforced by vids, lack of gameplay info as well as the confirmation that it has not been worked on that much. Even in interviews eveyone shys away when asked about gameplay; that's even if it was brought up.
I do not understand how people can clearly point out faults. Faults which are not little nuances, but massively destructive faults to the gameplay. Then, give ways in which to fix them, only to have someone call them a "fag" or "tekken/vf/sc" fanboy."
Now, really, think about that for a second. A group of people are putting in effort. Effort aimed at making a "fighting game" series better. A series, btw, that they have been with since its conception. Only to have individuals attack them. "If you don't like it, then just fucking leave!!" People call them whiners, elitists. Hell, they even attack the way in which a person constructs their sentenes and how they present their thoughts.
And that's what they are, thoughts. They are cohesive thoughts constructed for the purpose of educating and improving a game. Then they are attacked? Not only that, but people have these "opinoins." Why exactly do you have those opinoins, though? Yes everyone has an opinion. Nothing is ever given to support them, though. If you have an opinoin, you should be able to suport them; that's the trade off which goes along with having one.
Anyone who sits back, and reads much of the "elitists" posts can see that we back our shit up. We do so because we know what the fuck we are talking about. That's why we are arguing our "opinions" in the first place. We are doing so for the betterment of the series. Yet, those who think it's "just fine" or "i think it's great" believe other wise.
THAT, is true "fanboy" banter if I ever saw it. THAT, does nothing to improve a series or a fighting engine. When this is pointed out, however, we are fags, elitists, whiners and insert-random-fighter-besides-mk fanboy. Lovely, indeed.

My post wasn't directed at you Saty. There are alot of cocks around here that get off trying to be above other peeps. And you're right. I'm tired of seeing the same bullshit threads like: "Do you think Soyna's drapes match her carpet?" Dude, there are some dipshits here, no doubt. I've agreed with you and HD on a few things when it comes to gameplay. But you and HD come across as intellectuals who can articulate shit. Others do not.

Just wait until Tekken 5 comes outto play a game with deep gameplay, I know I am.

Oh, yah, I know it wasn't directed at me. I was just, well, stating a rant, lol. People are simply passionate about MK, I guess; no matter what side of the fence their on. Weather they express it creatively, constructively, or whatever. It's there none the less.
Yah, lol. T5 for sure, Q

The improvements on T5 look really good, I'm looking forward to that
Staying on topic I know people say they play MK a lot because of the story and stuff, but I was wondering when you're actually playing the main mode as say Sub-Zero, and you end up against another Earthrealm warrior, does anyone actually take the time to notice "wait a sec, they're allies in the story, they shouldn't be fighting each other,"
I haven't seen anyone put that point across to Boon+Co that allies in the story shouldn't be fighting each other, unless it was in the form of a tournament were allies fighting would be a common place of course.
