These ten characters I think could really shine and truly steal some of the thunder from some of the original, tired and played out characters if given brand new looks, fighting variations, and other unique badass attributes.

Definitely. Replace Li Mei with Bo, and my personal preference for Chameleon to Khameleon and fuck yeah to that list. Imo, Bo Rai Cho training Liu Kang is easily the best retcon of the series.

Correct. I left him out mainly because I think there's a super high chance he makes it in.

As one of the very few die-hard Tanya fan, I don't even have to say why that I want her in, but to say about the other characters, the few that I really want to see from the 3D era are really only limited to the following.
Daegon: my new number 2, beating out Scorpion, and don't ask why, I just love his specials, he will be super if done right and gets included in MKX, though many people hates him due to that lame story junk,
Hotaru: He wasn't that great when he first debuted in MKD, since he only had 2 specials, while, look flashy enough, but felt rather unfinished, but was vastly improved in MKA with 3 new specials that were effective, and I would LOVE to see him return
Reiko: Along with Tanya, he was the ONLY kharacter I liked in MK4, I didn't really care too much with Fujin, whom EVERYONE wants here, in terms of gameplay and specials(only aspect that I care for in a fighting game), but Reiko was pretty good
Li Mei: She wasn't that good when she first debuted in MKDA, for, to me, she looked rather fragile, and weak, but that have changed for some reason a lot when she returned in MKA. I don't know why, and I would LOVE to see her return
As for other kharacters, Shujinko I don't really care, unless they wipe out all the other kharaters move that he STOLE and give him a whole new list of special OF HIS OWN, than I will re-consider, for I tend to hate the 'Recycled Kharacters' such as Ashrah(Raiden's hat clone, Kung Lao's Spin, Raiden's Torpedo, Kai's falling fireball), Kira(Nothing more than a Kano/Sonya rip-off), Jarek(Nothing more than a Kano/Sonya rip-off) and vice versa, so...
For Sareena, I have some high hopes for her return. I enjoyed playing as her in MKA, and if she get accompanied by her sisters, Kia, and especially Jataaka, who resembles in looks with my favorite X-men(Storm), she can be a force to be reckoned with.
For Stryker, I will be continuing to hate him unless he gets the special that ARE specials that no ordinary person can do. Taser Gun shoot(anybody can do it if they have the gun), Baton Thow(if you train, everybody can jump toward you and throw with your baton), Grenades? that, you can throw easily after removing the pin. Stryker really DON'T belong in MK Universe where EVERY kharacter have the flashy specials like fireball comming out from nowhere and the moves that no ordinary person can do in real life. He fits more on Tekken or other button smashers, where the moves all consists of dial-a-kombo type, and no offence, Stryker fans.
Drahmin however, I DO see a potential. He didn't have much to offer in gameplay, but I LOVED his throw. remember the punching bag throw? that was fun.... I see some potential with this character.
Sorry again for the long post, but that's my point of view.

Apparently, this sub forum is where threads go to die. Shame because I was enjoying this thread and the one about Bo Rai Cho. The one about Bo was about him being in MKX so I especially don't get why it was moved to this forum. EDIT: I replied to this, and now it pops up back in the MKX forum. Weird! /but cool. :)

Damn. I replied to the Bo Rai Cho thread and it didn't do the same thing. That topic shouldn't have been moved. Maybe an admin just assumed it was discussing a 3D era game because of the title?

Well, like a puppy whose had a bad master, it becomes guarded and scared of its next master. If the new master is nice, t warms up to it as time goes by.
Similarly, we've had so many bad experiences with bad 3D characters. We're guarding ourselves by not giving any of the 3D era characters a chance. If the 3D era characters get revamped, we'll warm up to liking them in due time.
That and some people just don't like the character.

That and some people just don't like the character.
Two reasons.
One: Nostalgia and the notion that if it doesn't resemble what came out of the trilogy then it doesn't fit MK. See how even the new characters were received.
We got a bug woman who absolutely fits MK. A brute and crazy little woman and a blood god worshiping ominous tower. All these characters fit perfectly in MK's dark twisted universe and are what the MK team has been striving to realise since the game was a run away success.
And Two! Because to be fair a lot of the 3D era characters had little thought put into them and very bland designs.
Of course when I say that I am mainly thinking of MK4 and Deception. Way to many browns and blacks. The costumes were just too low key and unremarkable and didn't help define their identity at all.
Why would a character from the Order realm be wearing sun glasses? Why did Dairou an ex Seidan guardsmen have black hair and normal human eyes? It's just so unbelievably inconsistent and it's clear NRS didn't care about making them consistent cosmetically with their story they just wanted to put these characters in and came up with the reason later.
And then there are the forgettable special moves that really said nothing about these characters and conveyed no personality what so ever and just felt as if they were after thought.
Heck in Deception characters had moves that made absolutely no sense. Why did Darius have to have glowing particle effect specials? Why did Kobra? Why was Tomb Stone a special move for Dairou?

I feel like the MK team are saving the best for last, this time..... they have to know we are mostly anxious to see if any 3D era kharakter will indeed return, at this point.... we wanna see some kharakters that weren't in MK9.
The MK team is saving TANYA for last. Tanya will be the best reveal of MKX!
I hope the 2015 version of Tanya is extremely badasss! Fingers krossed.

I can't think of a single character that I hate besides 2 legged motaro. I don't even hate his character, just that design. I'm a mk nerd, it's easy for me dismiss some things. some aren't as lenient and that's just how it is.

Why does anyone have special particle effects, sonya and johnny Cage had them in MK1, Jax could make the ground have an earthquake in MKII. its a fighting game, these things happen.

Somehow the specials of the 3D era do seem silly and bad. Probably because the focus was on the multiple fighting styles and the devs mad a conscious decision to move away from special attacks and projectiles during that era. Consequently they look "off" and half thought out because they probably were tbh. Boon has said no to multiple people. I really don't know, why. Hsu Hao Dhramin come to mind. I want Neatherrrealm to bring them back in, MKX and MK eleven. He'll Kai could be badass, ashrah, so forth I rather see these and less trilogy characters.
