Apparently they have ties to Midway or something. I've heard they are legit.

I think Tanya could only be good if they give her good storylines and good fighting styles. I would rather have Tanya than Jade, though.

In MK:DA Lei Mei's ending says that Shang TSung and Quan Chi tricked her and used her soul to revive the last of the Dragon King's undefeatable army. Meaning the undefeatable army was fully revived and Tsung and Quan Chi won - and that didn't happen

Lei Mei was crap. Just a filler for me but it was nice to see a female character in something different

Would it be so much to ask for all of you people with "sources" to just keep your mouths shut?

If you know the cast of the game just spill the beans or keep quiet. Your little "comments" here and there are irksome.

Sexyiness has not a damn thing to do with reviving a fighting game series. Personally, I don't love or hate Li Mei, but, for what they are trying to do with the series (bring it back to life), I think that a character must have true depth, and a very important role in the series. I certainly did not see any of these attributes in the character Li Mei. I do believe that she was a fill in for Mileena. But, like you said, I can't judge the character, before playing the game, but, I will be very very disappointed, if she returns, lacking as much depth as she did, in MK:DA.

I not too sure about that, JAX007. They have done it before. I could name a few, but, I don't want to get flamed. (*cough* Johnny Cage...oops)

I don't know where this information is coming from (I've looked the PSM up and down), but I can tell you that if she does so happens to make a return, to me, it will be a MASSIVE disappointment.

If this is true (Li Mei in MK6), then I am already disappointed in MK6. How can I say this. Because out of all the female characters they could have brought back, Li Mei has the least depth of all. Therefore, this drives me to belive that the dev. team are lacking in ideas.

Whatever happened to Reiko? Fujin?...the list goes on. Why continuosly trample over MK4's characters. I know that a lot of the characters were'nt likd in that game, but, a couple of them had great concepts, and incredible potential. Someone could easily outrank Lie Mei.

um where in my paragraph did i mention mileena and li mei?

Perhaps when you quoted Daemos saying:

Humulis Wrote:
"But WHY?! Why did Midway bring Li Mei back, she is to MK5 what Tanya was to MK4 - a filler!!!"

Tanya is the infamous Kitana rip-off, and many refer to Li Mei was the same only in connection with Mileena. It was a misunderstanding.

humulis Wrote:
i mentioned tanya, i.e. both tanya and li mei are pointless, average, boring, and worthless fighters taking up space where a cool female fighter could go.

Not quite. Li Mei was a slave along with the rest of her people, being forced to do the bidding of the deadly alliance against her will. She was attributing the Shang and Quan's destruction practically at gunpoint and despite her conscience, there was nothing she could do about it. Although it's all up to opinion, I consider that a good story. Most definitely not pointless.

Her fighting style was meant to be straight-forward melee, mostly kick-based. I thought the style was good, while others did not. But just because the style didn't work with you, doesn't make it pointless, nor a bad style. Cyrax's combos didn't work half the time and he was stiff as a fucking board. THAT would be a bigger waste of a character.

Spazing out? I know it's difficult to convey tone on the net, but it's not like I insulted you(like you did to me). Learn how to emphasis your point and then maybe it won't be so easily misunderstood.

Right... if you wanna put it that way... but if you haven't noticed, aside from Sub Zero and Scorpion, MKD seems to be the shining moment for all the characters that don't already have the spotlight on them(Sonya, Kung Lao, Raiden, etc). Notice that only 6 MKDA characters are returning, and the developers obviously did this as a means to give other characters a chance. Aside from Sub and Scorp, I doubt the final 3 other MKDA characters left to be officially confirmed are going to old MK favs. So before you start mindlessly bashing Li Mei, remember that it's because she never took off as a character, and your bitching is proof that she should be in the game.
Continuing on the Li Mei bashing, if you claim Li Mei won't be in the game only because:
a)She was a boring/filler/Mileena clone character
b)She died in her ending
c)You don't want to see anymore female fighters wearing pink/purple
d)You arbitrarily don't like her

...shut up because we've already heard it a thousand times, and she's in whether you like it or not.

I also hope Frost returns. As for Li Mei I really don't care if she returns.but I would much rather want to see Frost in MK:D than Li Mei.I just hope Frost makes it to MK:D.

Hey, if you want a Mortal Kombat filler title to hold you over til 7, be my guest. If you want to take all the most mediocre and bland characters in the series' past and stick them all in one game and call it Mortal Kombat: Mediocre Cast, go for it.

But I won't tell you to shut up OR quit your bitching, so do us all a favor, suck it up and return the courtesy.

Li Mei is boring and just plain, well plain. They shouldn't have even made her up, she looks just like Mileena! It would've made her cooler if she *was* Mileena.

This may be off the topic, but I really think we should all stop jumping to conclusions. It hasnt been officailly confirmed that Li Mei is going to be in MKD. While I would like her to be in, I am just not sure about her presence. I have read conflicting information from a few people on this site that supposidly have "inside sources", so its all up in the air right now. I dont really care who has the inside info or not, but Im not going to jump to conclusions about this stuff until some acutal proof is released.

OK, let's analyze this. Some say Li Mei is back, others say she is not. But if she is, let's have a look at the pros and cons people have come up with:

Pros:
-Li Mei had decent fighting styles
-She was an original character

Cons:
-She was "boring"
-A lot of people didn't like how she had three simalarities to Mileena

They almost cancel each other out. But here is the pro that establishes my faith in Midway's choice if she was included. Just that. It's Midway's choice. It's not like Kabal, where people nagged and nagged. Or Scorpion returning in UMK3. Li Mei didn't have a gigantic fanbase, but they still seemed content in putting her in twice, even though it gets shaky support. This is Midway's choice for a character return, and I think that alone almost guarantees a strong relationship with a character this time around (probably Quan Chi, Shang Tsung or Scorpion).

Everyone's favorite characters won't always return in fighting games. It's just natural. If this was the case, every sequel would have more characters than its predecessor and that makes for a game that spread its attention to character detail too thin. Just because such and such character is supposedly the "backbone" of the series, it doesn't make him mandatory for the next game. Look at the jump from Tekken 2 to Tekken 3 for example. The cast had a good overhaul because of a 20 year jump in the timeline. How d'u think the fans felt when their favorite badass Kazuya was gone along with sweet ol' Jun Kazama? Obviously, they felt the same as ppl feel now, but in the end, the rest of the cast will end up bringing their own, unique charm that will hopefully ease the discontent. Change isn't necessarily a bad thing, and you can't really complain until the game comes, and you KNOW that the lack of your favorite character destroys its favor.
