Well didn't RE5 take place like 5 years after RE4 (hazy remembering here). Could be a different president. Though it really wouldn't work with the whole "I've always valued your friendship" thing.

RE4 takes place 6 years after the outbreak. RE6 takes place 10, plaging it roughly 4 years after RE4. I believe RE5 was at least 9 years after the outbreak. Not 100% (im slapping myself for forgetting). I will find out. EDIT: the Official Archived book has Chris and Sheva arriving in Kijuju in Early March, 2009. Puts "10 year"s after the outbreak at mid september 2008. Approximately 6 months before RE5.

I'm not saying it isn't. But if it was don't you think they would've used the same voice actor? Chris and Leon both have the same voice actors. Hell even Hunningan might have the same VO but Ashley doesn't? That just doesn't add up to me.

I just hope the date in Capcom's statement is wrong. "10 years after the Racoon City incident" would set the game in mid/late 2008, and RE5 is set on March 2009.

This being a prequel would kill any sense of threat on Chris' side of the story.

If the voice actress is not the same one who voiced Ashely, it certainly sounds like her, a lot.

They got the voice actress for Hunnigan back and Ashley was far more prominent than her, I think it's reasonable to believe her voice actor is the same.

First of all, it sounds just like Ashley.
Even if it's NOT the same voice actress... honestly, so what...? Do I really have to mention the thousands of cases of actors changing mid saga in games, movies, tv shows?
If the Dark Knight, a huge Hollywood production where you actually see the actors, gets to change the leading actress, why not Resident Evil, especially considering Ashley was a young girl.

Ashley's voice actor is Carolyn Lawrence. Now I, personally think that it is NOT the same voice actress. If it is Ashley then she sounds a hell of a lot less whiny. But at the same time I'm willing to consider that it is the same voice actress. The reason being because Carolyn Lawrence is such a talented actress. She does such roles as Sandy Cheeks, Moral Orel, and Cindy Vortex. So it definitely could be her since she has such variety in her voices.

When you see it... can't be unseen.

Wow... This looks more and more like it could be the best RE game, and the one that finally concludes the story.

Leon and Chris again? Holy fuck I'm getting so sick of these two. The trailer looks good and I'm glad that Sherry Birkin is apparently returning. There are just so many great characters in the RE universe...and they use Leon and Chris again. FUCK.

I would like to see Sheva, Rebecca, Ada, maybe Berry or Jill show up as playable or at the very least cameos, I mean why not? It appears that aside from Leon and Chris, you can play as Alex Wexler..the trailer gives that vibe off just a bit. In that one scene.

I suspect these people will show their faces though, this appears to be the be all end all based on the trailer.

I'm just so sick of Leon and Chris. I loved Leon in RE2 but I hated his whack ass borderline Matrix acrobatic feats in RE4. Used to love the shit out of Chris until he fucking roided out and started punching giant boulders. RE4 and RE5 fucking ruined Leon and Chris for me. Time to move on RE I mean fuck. How much more can you squeeze out of these two?

The only thing I can say is that Leon probably has the better spin with his connection to the president and that whole scenario. Chris though? Fucking please. He had his final duel with Wesker. Why not show something more from the BSAA? It doesn't even have to be a returning character like Sheva, Josh, or whatever. Why on freaking Earth does it have to be Chris again?

I have to say, I was confused when I seen Chris., Kinda mad. But if this indeed does happen just before RE5 as many people are starting to believe, then it makes perfect sense.

Time will tell. That is my guess though. RE5 was the end of his story arc. Capcom even said so and they confirmed Wesker actually died in RE5. So this just looks natural to happen just before that. Even though they are messing with the numbered entries. DMC syndrome.

I miss Barry and Rebecca as well. It would make sense not to see Barry anymore though. Jill is safe, his family is not anywhere near any of the "nohopeleft.com" listed outbreaks as he now resides in Canada. Rebecca on the other hand, is left completely in the air as to possibility. People also want to see Billy Coen make a return.

If they end up Bringing back Steve Burnside. I will freak out in happiness. Something tells me We may have a shot at seeing him again. Maybe he is one of the BOWs? that big guy looks like he had flowing, parted hair at one point.

That is 110% a guess though. The T-Veronica in him could limit that, or he could have just stayed dead and used as organic viral material.

Not at all, it is the best thing Capcom can do right now. They are too busy skipping 6 years into the future with RE4, another 4.5-5 after that with RE5. RE0,1,2,3,CV,outbreak1,2 and operation Raccoon City all took place within 5 months of each other. then 2 games expand that 10 years?

Oldschool fans understand there is need for evolution. But blindly leaving all that in the dust is a horrible move. Right now, Capcom filling these gaps (if that is what they are doing) is easing to RE fans. all of a sudden RE7 is 25 years into the future with no chance to evolve the plot when they had the perfect chance. Its like DinoCrisis3. Massive jumps into the future and rapidly fast moving plot with little development. it is horrible. I don't care who you are, its bad.

RE became such a plot-rich series (despite some plot holes) by having everything centered around a short time period. webs of deceit and overlaying stories developed and things were amazingly interesting.

Example: Search up William Birkin, or "the wesker report". It gets pretty interesting. RE Zero really gave those two some more depth.

Anyways, Capcom has seemed to notice this. Revelations and now potentially RE6 are directed at filling that 5 year(roughly) gap between RE4 and RE5. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see a game involving new characters happen between cvx and RE4. On the VIta or 3DS again, to have the freedom to explore horror and fill in the gaps.

Filling this in is good. Period. There is no downside other than perspective at wanting story progression after RE5, which can also be fed back into it knowing that better plot development before hand, will improve everything to come.
